Hi, We are trying to setup the PS3s to access the internet but it would seem the LEA filter is blocking it. We can request for it to be unblocked but need URLs. Any idea what sites need unblocking? Thanks

Think it had something to do with a permission somewhere, came in and reset the permissions on the WDS folder and gave it a reboot and now sems to work again. Thanks

Yep, says unauthorise. Have reinstalled the dhcp and deployment services with no luck. Are there any config files that don't get removed with the DHCP server. Going to try again tomorrow, have a break for tonight.

Hi, We had a server crash this morning (Teamviewer used up all the memory). After restarting the server we tried reinstalling a few machines by booting from the network. It now appears that DHCP gives out IP addresses to installed windows machines but when you try to boot from network it fails to get a IP from the DHCP server. Any ideas what could have broken? Hi, We have installed moodle 2.4 and trying to setup our courses that have all staff enrolled as students. The only problem is there isnt a way of doing this. Without going through every user and checking if they are staff or not, how are you supposed to know? Thanks p.s. We have put staff into the ad description for each user and mapped it to id. So searching for staff brings back 140 users but it refuses to display them as there are too many.

Hi, Having a bit of a dumb moment. I have setup dfsr to replicate a folder between our five sites. I then setup a domain namespace on our systen so that when we type \\domain\share it heads to the nearest server rather than going accross the vlan. I am now trying to setup MDT which requires a standalone namespace but cant get my head around how these works. If i set one up, can it have five directories that it picks the fastest server like a domain namespace does? Which server would you have to point to get the namespace? Thanks

Thanks for the info. Think I might have made a mistake. Thought I was already band 6 but I'm actually 4 at the mo so all is good. Our lea is the same. Our manager is the ICT manager as network manager involved doing budgets but also is a extra band. He now doing budgets anyway but still only has ICT manager wages

Hi, I'm currently a IT technician but have recently taken over the running of the entire network including 8 server, vle and all the machines over 5 sites. There is also a possibility of a 6th site soon. As I was doing all of this they said they will be offering me the position of lead ict technician and seemed to suggest band 8. We also have another lead technician (1 manager, 1 lead, 1 techy(me) and a temp techy at our place), I believe the other lead is on band 8 but not sure how/if it's possible to confirm this. Today I've got in writing that I'm going to be staying on the same band but put to the top of the scale 17k. This means that there will also be no further increases either as once your at the top of the band your then stuck there. To me I think that they are taking the mick but would like to know what others get in a similar job. Thanks

Hi, Im trying to create a batch file to uninstall a program. Heres the code wmic product where "name='SIMS Discover Client' and version<'7.148.77.0'" uninstall /nointeractive exit It runs wmic and then stops waiting for the wmic command. Any ideas? Thanks

Any chance you could share/pm your script please? Just tried deleting the discover client program files folder but get an unknown error logging in so there must be registry entries or files elsewhere.

Always one program isnt there Dont suppose you know a command line command to uninstall a program do you?

Nightmare, I've read that you can just copy the c:\program files\sims\discover client folder from a working machine to another and it will work. Any idead if this is true and if it breaks anything?

Upgrading the client. SOLUS 3 ive read makes life so much easier but we dont have access to it as its managed by our LEA. They still dont support win 7 so a bit behind.

Hi, I've managed to get SIMS discover to install on a new machine using the below but it doesnt upgrade existing installs. I cant seem to find any info in the guides we have about the command line options. Any ideas? Thanks

We have just moved to using WDS and MDT together for a installing our machines. No more cds or images. Although this would seem like over kill for your network with only two types of machines it would really help as images get old and outdated and take time to recreate. We used to use active @ however. Good bit of kit.

I've just been looking to this also as its one of the last things that we dont deploy. Dont think, although could be wrong. the script installs .net framework 4 like the installer does. it seems to run too quick. You need to make sure you either run the command after it has installed the msi if you deploy .net 4 from the network useing GPO or after all the windows updates have been completed. The next thing we have to deploy is sims discover.

Had the same thought as sted. The install task (the bit that works) uses the credentials that you added to the script (domain admin) but the copy task will try to use the local administrator account which unless that password matches your domain administrators password will not work. What you could do is try putting the .ini files into the "\admin-srv\SIMSroot$" (your s drive) and then change copy "\\server\packages$\Sims\connectx86.ini" "c:\Program Files\sims\sims .net\connect.ini" /y to copy "s:\connectx86.ini" "c:\Program Files\sims\sims .net\connect.ini" /y and the same with the rest. This will then copy the ini files from the mapped s drive which is logged in.
