  1. Hi All, Anyone installed different size ram modules into this or similar boards? We want to gradually upgrade our 4gb sticks to 8's but will have to do it over a long time due to the budget. Cheers. Dan
  2. Ripped it out today and surprised how light it was. Though it would be heavy. Replaced with a socket like galway said. Have noticed there's extra live wires behind some plugs in the flat that isn't on the socket circuit. It doesn't provide full power however as nothing can run from it and my socket tester doesn't light up properly.
  3. Sorry havnt got back to you quicker. Will have a look at policy central when I can get on a proper internet connection. Moving home and only have my phone and 250mb data. I'll have the time to monitor so that's no probs. I didnt find impero that great when compared to an tutor with the only extra feature I used was the history logging.
  4. Have a 84" projector screen that when not in use I want to push the pull down screen and its case to the ceiling. Then when in use I can pull down the case and then the screen. Any ideas? Its for home.
  5. Cheers. Not switched it on. Never needed one before.
  6. Just got the keys to the new flat. Went in the bathroom and opened the cupboard. For some reason I though someone was going to jump out at me. No people but this in the bottom. Is it a heater?
  7. Was that for me SunnyKnight? Got a mortgage. Did exactly that. Stayed until I could afford to get out and do it properly. Got a 11k deposit for a 100k properly. Was saving until the right place came up. Not been the best of times but ok. Cheers. I've got the mortguage coming out on the 1st of each month and trying to do the same with the bills. I'm then putting money for the car into a seperate account and the same with some savings each month. Then I know what's left if for food and fuel and don't have to worry. Get all the have to pay items out the way. Yep, got the first evening planned, just need to get the projector up, and fridge stocked. Not too loud though as don't want to annoy the neighbours.
  8. I was finding the same thing when looking. Rent and mortgage are pretty much identical and you've still got all the bills to pay, a lot of the time rent was more than a motgage. Its just saving up for the deposit that's hard.
  9. Congrats. Sounds like everything is going well. Good luck with it all, such a long processes isn't it. Proper flat. Had a look at a studio and decided against it. Think once you get past a certain age (student days) a studio flat would be a nightmare.
  10. Cheers all, Moving in on my own. Luckily ive had two £5k pay rises in 2 years so that covers the mortgage, still a 89K mortgage Is a struggle and on the top of what I can get. Two years ago I was at a basic tech job, now a manager. Still cant believe how quickly it happened. Didn't ask for the first one, got given it because the boss said I was doing to much for a tech, then applied for the manager position. Yeah, in the budget is everything inc car stuff, food, fast food for when I get bored, nights out etc. Although currently food is only costing £105 for everything which the estate agent couldn't believe but i showed him the receipts. £150 is there just incase something goes wrong or I see something nice to buy. How much would you guys say is a good amount to save for emergencies? Im thinking £2-3k. All building work is covered by the leaseholder (for £44 a year which is a bonus!). Theres no fancy boiler just a tank. Electric heaters. I cant think of anything bigger than a washing or something that can go wrong with the flat itself. Yeah, don't need money to have fun Dave. Money helps but there's plenty of stuff to do. Favourite thing is fishing for mackerel. As long as you don't loose your gear its like a £1 every couple of times for the feathers. Even if you loose your weight its only a couple of £. Also currently into bell ringing lol. Costs nothing and its a good evening chatting.
  11. Get the keys to my new flat on Friday. Moving out of the parents house. Cant wait. Able to do what I want like sitting in the living room to watch decent TV, get a dishwasher (my dream since I started having to washup), park in a proper space and not on the street. But OMG its scary times. Have done all the budgets and there's £150 to play with each month, im used to £250 rent and a few other bits leaving £500/£600 to buy rubbish. This is causing issues now though as all the rubbish I've brought has to fit somewhere. That's the biggest worry is where all the stuff is going to go. Have 4 huge boxes for just loose tools and then have another big mechanics toolbox, Massive computer (bigger than my servers at work) and large Samsung monit, a laptop, playstation, tv, 83" projector screen and projector (no idea where these will go), and a lot more. Sony and Tannoy Separate home cinema system that's in two huge boxes. Think this will have to be sold. Gaming racing wheel, pedals and chair. This takes up so much room. The flats going to look like Mr Trebus's house if not careful.
  12. The LEA has in school a Cisco 3550 switch. This splits the admin and curriculum and acts as a gateway allowing only machines on a IP range. If I do tracert it uses the gateway for to their admin server as this doesn't connect to the Netgear. If I tracert a printer that's picked up DHCP on the admin VLAN from the Curriculum VLAN goes straight there through the Netgear and not the Cisco.. Its a Netgear GS748T v5. I've just found out through playing that the switch isn't tagging frames. I've removed two test ports from the default VLAN leaving them tagged in just the curriculum VLAN, and communication between them stopped. Set the PVID to the vlan, still nothing. Set the port to untagged in the VLAN curriculum membership and they can talk.
  13. Hi, Just started setting up some VLAN's on the network. First time doing this. The LEA setup a couple but computers on one VLAN can still talk to the other. All ports are untagged from the default group 1 VLAN which is what I think is causing the crossover. However removing the T or U from VLAN 1 stops all communications to the port. Am I right in thinking if all ports are untagged in VLAN 1 this would be joining the two VLANS together?
  14. The event logger shows: The server has been reinstalled on the same IP address. The workstation is a fresh install however so don't know where its getting the wrong certificate.
  15. Hi, Just installed Sophos Console. Ran this script on the workstations (Have hidden server and user names) \\***\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP\Setup.exe -updp "\\***\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP" -user *** -pwd *** -mng yes -G "\***\***" -s -ni Clients install the remote management on update but they never show up on the server. Any ideas?
  16. If you have used Securus before would you recommend it? My last school had AB Tutor and Impero. Impero was a improvement over AB but not as much as I though it would be for the price. It created good logs but never really gave you any useful alerts. I've seen Securus has screen readers and porn detectors etc. I'm thinking of combining AB Tutor with Securus. What do you think?
  17. Hi Linkazoid Did it manually in the end. Had a afternoon free so sat down with a Mc Donalds and clicked away comparing AD with the folders.
  18. Hi, Just trying to break the new network before it goes live. Found out that if you delete the my documents folder it wont recreate it again on next login. Trying to then save in my documents gives errors. Cant see a option in the GPO that says about recreating them. Any ideas? Cheers Update: Couldn't find a way 9of it automatically re-creating. Ran delprof2 on the system and re logged in and they all came back again.
  19. Gave Microsoft a ring and they say their techs are having trouble getting the two joined in a acceptable file size. She said they haven't got a clue when it will be done.
  20. Hi, Trying to download Office 2010 with SP2 32 bit from the VLSC and its greyed out. Contacted their support and they say that some people get things greyed out by error and to download office and the service pack seperatly. I replied that there's no chance im doing that on 200+ machines. Is it just me or is the 32 bit option not available for all?
  21. So have found https requests get picked up by our remote desktop services server. Checked out the DNS and that points mail.*** to the mail server but somewhere https is being pointed to the other server.
  22. Just running a trial version of LanSchool. From what i can see its pretty much the same as impero. As soon as the computer is turned off you cant see websites they have accessed.
  23. Website visits. Documents deleted. Print outs.
  24. Hi, We currently have AB Tutor and Impero for classroom management and also logging activity. AB Tutor was uninstalled because it stores the log files on the computers so if you want to find out what a user has been on you have to go and switch on all the machines. We wont be continuing the Impero licence because of their prices. Sorry Russ, impero have tried but spending over a grand a year isnt a option and Impero want more than double that. Is there another bit of software that has remote logging abilities and has licensing model like AB Tutor, one of payment with free upgrades and support for the purchased version e.g. V6? Many thanks
