So how are you all getting on (no spoilers)? I have hardly done any of the story line, I have got as far as Lestallum. I have just been doing side quests and roaming the world. I have mostly got on top of the combat system, although this may be because my characters are on Level 30 and I'm doing Level 20-25 missions.

If it is just the one IWB they are having trouble with have you looked into what is different about it? I.E. old bulb in the projector, inadequate blinds for windows, poor seating location?

It completely depends on what sort of devices are connected to the network and how they communicate. For example anything with Bonjour enabled will cause a fair amount of broadcast traffic just by how it works. This is one of the reasons I make sure our printers always have it turned off.

Do you have a drawing of this setup, it is quite hard to piece together? However here are a few observations: I presume that 10.6.0.10, 10.5.0.10 are static IP addresses for your core switch on the respective VLANs? If so then DHCP looks ok (other than the large subnets). Have you confirmed that your VLANs are set correctly (before involving DHCP)? I.E. if you plug a device into a port on your 2530 with a static IP from the BYOD_VLAN range and set this port to Untagged, can you ping the Core switch and DHCP server? Your CORP_VLAN has the same DNS IP specified twice. You list your Smoothwall in the list but don't say how or where it is connected to the network? Has it been configured with interfaces for each VLAN?

Just a bit of best practice that may help you, your Aerohive APs really should be in their own "management" VLAN with a separate scope in DHCP. The ports the APs are connected to would need to be Untagged on your switch for that VLAN and you would need to tell HMOL what VLAN they are on. This will help as your RADIUS server will need the IP address of each Aerohive AP as authentication happens at the edge with Aerohive (This is where a separate scope really helps). I will read your post in a little more detail later to see if I can see anything wrong (unless someone comes back to you first). Edit: Just noticed your VLANs are all using /16 subnets. These are extremely large broadcast domains and I am sure it will give you problems going forward, you really need to use smaller subnets. Especially as the point to VLANs is to break the network up, you can keep your scope spacing for future expansion just reduce the subnets and adjust the scopes accordingly.

What are peoples thoughts on this so far? I'm only about an hour in so far but I must confess to struggling with the combat a little, at times it can be quite hard to actually see what is going on especially against multiple opponents. Also slightly disappointed with how "driving" the car actually works. As with all Final Fantasy games there is a lot to get your head around in terms of setting your party up. But so far so good, I'm really enjoying it.

Yup, you can do this in Aerohive. 1. Go to Configuration> Advanced Configuration> Authentication> User Attribute Groups and create groups with attribute values that distinguish your groups (the values that get reported from the radius server). 2. Go to Configuration> Advanced Configuration> Common Objects> VLANs and create the necessary VLANs. 3. Go to Configuration> User Profiles and create new groups e.g. Students - KS3 & Students - KS5 and give them non conflicting Attribute Numbers* (possibly representative of step 1 if not already in use elsewhere in Aerohive) & VLAN from step 2. Expand advanced and select the appropriate Attribute Number Group* from step 1. *Attribute Numbers & Attribute Number Group can't be changed after the profile is created but VLAN can. HTH

If you are using centralised storage then leave the data where it is and just migrate the VM. If your two hosts use internal storage then moving the VM but not changing the datastore would mean that the VM is using the hardware resources of Host B but its disks would still be on Host A. I'm not sure for what reason you would do this as it would increase the load on the network adaptor and increase read / write time. I do stand to be corrected on this though!

Thanks @jcubbin and @mavhc , because this has happened at the start and no student data had been lost (just my time and effort), I rebuilt the VM last night and reconfigured SQL this morning. Everything now working as expected and I now have a schedule in place in vCenter to create snapshots after each session.

I think I might just start again with it all as I can't even import common_schema 2.2 If I start tomorrow morning I should have everything set before the end of the day.

Not sure how to resolve this though.
