  1. When we moved in to our house we had a meter as they were being trialed in the area at the time (27 years ago). We opted to keep it after the trial expired - big mistake with a family of 5! Our water bills were always high. However, now that only one child is still at home, our bills have fallen substantially and we pay a lot less. When we had a leak under the kitchen floor the water company (South West Water) noticed the huge jump in consumption and credited us £250! Which was very kind as the leak was on our property. Meters are far better in my opinion - pay for what you use . Not convinced about smart meters yet though
  2. @foofighterjim A sports physio would have lots more experience to do with what is actually wrong and what might help. They are vastly experienced and really know their stuff, and my doctor told me they know more than he does in this area! Also, a doctor might refer you for an x-ray or a scan so that you can find out what is actually wrong I dont like being touched by strangers either and a massage is one of my worst nightmares!
  3. I think I would recommend a doctor, or at the very least a sports physio to have a look and see what you have actually done and recommend treatment
  4. Beginning of week 3 of my "Burn" 4 week challenge. Upper body, Lower body, Core, Cardio, HIIT, the lot Such fun, especially in this weather
  5. With all due respect, @CloudGeek, I was answering the OP - you - who asked for recommendations for MIS, and no specific mention of Cloud was made. If you wanted a cloud solution you should have said! (we've been with hosted SIMS for quite a while now and are happy, thanks very much)
  6. I didnt know there was that facility on Office 365 - thanks @rpain Could be very useful as the DH was talking about booking out the IT suite and the laptops only yesterday!
  7. We use hosted SIMS Despite the horror stories, it has been pretty good for us
  8. When my friends and I have a picnic, we always bring something for ourselves, and something to share with everyone else. It might be easier if @AJWhite1970 provides the basics such as bread, spread, salad, and crisps etc and we all contribute, moneywise
  9. You can sell some floppy disks - blank or used - on ebay. Have a look - search for Floppy Disks and then click "completed items" down the left hand side to see what they have actually sold for (sold price in green)
  10. Supermarket fruit and veg seems to last almost forever, which really worries me. If you get the opportunity to have fresh veg that someone has grown, it is quite interesting to see how quickly it all goes past its best. Whereas a tesco lettuce can last for weeks. This has always worried me - what are they doing to preserve it? As for price - carrots and potatoes were cheaper in plastic than out of it yesterday in ASDA
  11. Me too. We have just had an M&S food open in the village and on the first day they were giving out free bags. Free PLASTIC bags. I did complain and was told that they were made from recycled plastic and were themselves recyclable. I pointed out that that wasnt really good enough and why not give out hemp or heavy duty paper bags. I got gawped at It's so weird though - there is the USA using paper bags (with no handles though, which is odd) but they cut up fruit and veg and put it on plastic trays and cover it in plastic. Sometimes they dont even cut it up, just wrap up one banana or kiwi or whatever
  12. If she wants the email to work but the recipient to not be bothered by notifications, then surely it is the user who turns them off?
  13. I shall be up on the hills later watching the sun go down. I hate the return of the dark
  14. Seems an odd suggestion given that their local profiles have gone, but have you tried actually deleting their local and roaming (or whatever you use) profiles, restarting and see if they rebuild them?
  15. You do have power but it is rarely used IMHO I am the global admin for our Office 365 and apart from setting up new accounts, sharepoint spaces and groups, I do very little
  16. @Jawloms - poss too late but others might be interested: My son the Scout Leader recommends this site: https://www.springfields.co.uk/categories/everyday-carry.html He says the short folding whittling knives are ideal for a beginner and there are knives you can lock shut for safety
  17. My son, the Scout Leader, concurs
  18. My file server was set to not do access scanning either - but it did
  19. Antivirus suddenly scanning everything? Happened to us once - every time anything happened to, or via the server, the antivirus started scanning everything
  20. I endorse that - we have always been happy with their service
  21. MrwITch is happy with a card (or even no card from the eco friendly son), and some time spent with his children. Me too actually. I dont want stuff ever. A meal out, a picnic, a bbq, a walk - all are very acceptable as long as my family are around me. On Mother's day I went for a wet beach walk with two of my children and it was wonderful. This year for my birthday I am thinking of asking if I could just go for a walk with my three children - I love their partners, but just for once I would love it to be just us My point is that your parents would probably be happy just to spend some special time with you
