We have moved all of our Admin staff to Office 2016, A little more rushed than planned, but they are all happy and only very few have even noticed, also only positive comments. We're going to activate a few with a MAK key to rule out KMS, remove 3097877 and 2975838 on some others and test. We have office 2016 installed and testing, no crashing but 2016 is showing its own issues with shared calendars!! I keep checking Windows Update for the hope of a new patch/fix. We might also call Microsoft Support for the first time too. I believe if it is related to patch management there is no charge but I might be wrong.

Does anyone else see "Office Software Protection service" (Event 1003) logged directly before the application hangs? I'm wondering if this might be linked to our KMS

We dont seem to have that problem here on RTM. We put the exported XML in netlogon. Using enterprise.

Outlook no longer crashing.... But now Word is...

Same as above, divided into Admin, Classrooms, etc. They can see who is logged into which PCs easily to send nag messgaes. We occasionally use it for emergency IT messages. Works with Windows 10 too.

Our attendance officer uses it daily alerting teachers who are not completing registers, she loves it!

Hi, We had issues with the KB3097877 update as did many others. This was resolved by deploying the fixed update released on the 12th Nov. We have double checked that the latest fixed update is installed by checking WSUS and also the date created for file "C:\Windows\System32\win32k.sys". This should be 3rd Nov for the new KB3097877 update (17th Oct for the bad update). Has anyone else seen outlook crashing repeatedly recently? Maybe 6 times a day for a staff member? We use NetSupport Notify. The price, support and thought into the deployment of the software was top notch, even included ADMs for configuring in AD. It's not needed any input from us since installation. So very happy.

Bev this update is crashing WinLogin.UI at logon as well as causing problems with Outlook and more. Just remove the update from WSUS and manually remove it from any machines already affected with a startup script containing: C:\windows\system32\DISM.exe /Online /Remove-Package /PackageName:Package_for_KB3097877~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1 /quiet Thanks to Rob_D

It appears to only affecting machines with the on-screen keyboard enabled for us. the DISM command has worked a treat.

Can you please explain the issue with the startscreen xml you mentioned in RTM? we have it working here with RTM, the start menu is redirected from a share and the startscreen set from an xml in netlogon. Thanks

Hi Reboot, I can see where your coming from, but these look a lot tidier being an all in one machine, also for around £90 im running brand new parts with an opportunity to upgrade right up to the latest haswell i7 if needed. The Ram is also DDR3 which is faster and also cheaper to upgrade in the future than DDR2. If I remember these dells use a dell PSU, which although we only ever had a blow were a pain to get replaced without using a 2nd hand one off eBay.

Its OK mate, don't put yourself out I can test in the morning. Ours are 100% DVI. The motherboard came with a weird DVI card.

Arthur, I don't suppose you can confirm that you can use the HDMI and DVI outputs at the same time? We have HDMI projectors and the built in screen is DVI. ?

The motherboard is the exact same model as yours and we also went for the G3450 as you suggested too! We already have some SSDs and 1600 RAM. I looked at the I3 comparison on cpuboss and couldn't warrant the extra 40quid for what we need them for. No PSU ordered. Will see how it goes! Cheers

We have a few of these Ecoquiets and to be fair they look pretty neat and tidy, but their 2gb RAM and 2ghz dual core CPU doesnt really cut it. Its a MiniATX board. Has anyone tried replacing the CPU/Mobo/RAM on these????? Ive spotted you can get a bundle with an dual core 3.2ghz socket 1150 CPU/ 4gb RAM and mATX Mobo for about £70-£90 these days? Do you think they have other propriety parts? Maybe the PSU ? Might have a look at one as a little project.

Hi, Now that we are using Azure, O365, cloud based MIS, etc we really do rely on our internet feed. We have a 100/100 virgin connection but in case the worst was to happen we would like to setup a backup internet solution. As well as our fibre feed we have an additional ADSL-Max connection that is setup in the server room via a simple ASDL router. Has anyone please already setup a resilient internet feed using Smoothwall? Our Smoothwall server has 2 spare NICs. Is it as simple as connecting both feeds to the SW server and then setting it up from there? Even if there isn't failover and we had to flip a virtual switch that would be fine. Thanks in advance!
