Was your key also JG28K ? or has this happened to various other VL keys?

Use the VBS script below saving as ChangeVLKey.vbs , it doesnt need editing with a key or anything, then use a batch script (or another vbs) to call it with your key after it, eg. ChangeVLKey.vbs XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX To test i downloaded Jellybean Key reader to see if the key is getting changed. I followed the MS guide on manually changing the key and chaged it baclk to the JG28K bad key, then tested the script with the new key a few times. Over the last week or so I have been looking at systems to backup our Hyper-V virtual servers. I have been trialing Data Protection Manager but found that there is only Local disk or Tape support. We cannot afford to buy 600gig of ScSi drives, a tape system or upgrade Backup-Exec from 11 to 12.5 and then ALSO buy the hyper-v Agent. Also now firestreamer is around £400 to buy. So.. while looking for solutions ive seen talk of being able to do "Online backups" of any hyper-v OS using the VSS writer. Currently we backup the whole Host using Windows Backup, but what we would want to do it backup and restore individual Virtual Servers This looks like it has to be done from the command line (or script?) but as as its free I wouldnt mind giving it a shot... Has any here managed to get this working? From what ive gathered it is possible to backup all the VHDs to a shared drive while the servers are still running. Apart from the obvious extra work involved in running and schedualling, does anyone know any negatives with just having backups of the VCDs? Does DPM2010 backup anything more than just the VHDs ? Have you got an enterprise Licence or standard? I think you need enterprise machine licence for SQL, AD and sharepoint backups

Im not really sure as it was before my time, but I know it was given to quite a few schools in the area with their select agreement. Ive managed to script a new Key on login so all is now ok... Just remembered staff laptops next....

Hi, We have a Microsoft Master Select Agreement. We have used the same "XP Pro Select Licence Numer" on every install since 2002. As of today we are getting: "This copy of windows did not pass genuine validation" "The product key found on this computer is not valid for use in your region" I have called just about everyone in microsoft and no-one can help, just passed from department to department!!! We have been given a new key by our licence supplier, but we have <500 installs using the old key. Firstly does anyone know anyone I can talk to about the old key stopping working? Secondaly does anyone know if it would be possible to script the change and activation of XP seamlessly? I hope MS will sort the old key, but im doubtfull as if you google "JG28K" you get the whole key from all over the world dating back 4 years!

Cheapest ive found Firestreamer for so far is £435 !!!! I think I might have to put MDP 2010 on hold Has anyone found Firestreamer cheaper? Ive called all the listed resellers. Apart from buying new drives, the only other option we have is to install it on our server connected to our MD300 array but we cant as its 2k3 datacentre edition . Regarding licencing, we have 3 hosts with 4 virtual machines on each. Would you need 3 x enterprise licences to cover them all, or would we need a licence for each virtual server? (Meaning 12 x licenses)

Simcfc73 Think it was less than £100 for the license and now have a couple of 1.5Tb drives for external backup Is there any chance I could have your seller details please? if it is around £100 I will definetly buy this, I have been playing and researching all day into DPM 2010 and was gutted when I found that it could not backup to any of our NAS drives!!! Backup up to 2 x 640gig USBs will be perfect for hyper-V backups. Thanks in advance

We recently bought some USB mice and keyboards from ebuyer, both different brands, we had the same problem you are having when they were both plugged in together. Plugged in individually they worked perfectly. There was a strange driver conflict. I sorted it by disabling one of the several "HID-complient-XXX" devices in device manager. Both then worked together fine. Good luck

Stab in the dark, You could create a login scipt that make the changes to the registry? It would look at the login name and only apply changes if XXXX is logging in. Probably an easier way to do this Good luck!

We have about 15 x 2015n`s They seem to just go offline, but I can still ping them and goto the webmin. In there if i change the lanuage to french and then back to english it reboots the printer and gets it back online... Thanks all, thats what I thought, I have a couple of spare HP 2124 100m procurve switches. Unfortunetly unmanaged. There is a 1gig network running to it, but these are 10/100 switches. Would It be worth swapping to a basic switch like this ? Currently funds are very short, Should I request money for a mananged HP 1gig switch capable switch, or even the one suggested in your link ? Hi, A while ago 2 Rooms were swapped over with little if any notice to us!!!! So to get Art computers/printers etc back up and running I had to install a cheap mini Linksys 8 port Hub. They have 7 devices in total, 3 PCs, 2 printers, weather station and a wireless AP. My question is, is it worth me replacing the minihub for a spare HP procurve switch ?? For such a small number of devices would it be beneficial ? Could serveral of these on the network be maybe causing "network slowdowns" ? Thanks in advance

Is this the software with the "Network install" that involves copying the files to the network and THEN visiting each PC to do a manual install ? If i remember it even asks you to put the admin password in plain text in the install files on the server!! Or am I thinking ExamPro?

Hi, We have various network cameras around the school. Staff cannot install IE plug-ins, so if any department wants to view a camera in "thier" room i have to manually install the plugin as below: http://www.uploadgeek.com/image-D37D_4BF3C98E.jpg I have tried and failed to use group policy to allow the installation of this plugin, so thought if I can find the files etc i can create a simple msi to roll out. Ive had a search for bl_camera.cab but cannot find it anywhere? Does anyone know where and how these are installed? Many thanks

Truecrypt here also.. All workstations are installed via MSI with the truecrypt driver.. then any USB sticks that required encryption are setup with truecrypt in Traveller mode, means no installation on home computers and will work on any school computer. Currently only 3 staff have requested encryption after numberous notices... but hey ive done my part.

Thanks, All our switches are managed procurves, Procurve manager and error logs dont suggest a loopback, but wouldnt rule out a teacher plugging a network cable in during there morning routine!!
