Maybe its worth saving it as a text field? Then it will copy number / letter word for word instead of trying to be smart and recognise a date.

16Gb iPod Touch is £~240, £159 for an iPhone, and notice i said "if your phone contract is due". Most contracts are around £25 for an average user. Get a £35 contract and after 8 months you have had a 16Gb iPhone, and only jsut payed the same amount for a 16Gb iPod Touch with effectively 8Months free phone contract. Was my reasoning behind it.

iPod's are great. Personally, if your contract on your phone also faills in term, iPhone 3G are a bargain at £99 (8Gb) or £159 (16Gb) considering you used to use a memory stick one your not using more than 4Gb at a guess. Ive heard good things about Sony Walkman as well, but have personally only owned an iPod and Sony Walkman phone. edit - iPod / iPhone also plays M4P videos, MP3, AAC and will convert WAV with iTunes as well.

Cant go wrong with Buffallo, Linksys or ZyXEL. I went to Belkins new N1-Series and the router packed up after 6 months, got an RMA, took it back to PC World (only reason i went to PC world was because i needed a router there and then) and managed to get a replacement Linksys + £40 back in my pocket

WD's Raptor And Nvidia G80 Don't Play Nice With Vista
Psymon replied to kearton's topic in Windows Vista
Im running the following at home nad have had no problems. EVGA nForce 680i Premium Intel Core2Duo E6850 @ 3.00Ghz / 4mb Cache 4Gb OCZ 1066Mhz SLI RAM @ 2.20v in SLI Mode EVGA nVidia GeForce 8800GTX 768MB 2 x WD Raptor 150Gb in RAID0 Vistax86 Enterprise Edition I have had no problems of this nature, the only problem i do get is the DVD-RW Drives tend to stop responding to new disks after running for a long time, and i have to restart the PC to get it to recognise that a new disc is in the drive. I got UT2007 on launch day, put it in the drive and it asked me to label the disk as if it was blank. Put it in my old PC and it worked fine, just needed a reboot of the vista machine. Otherwise runing like a peach. -
Windows media player does a fine job, but id contact apple and ask for an MSI you could deploy via Group Policy, at current its a 70mb iTunes / Quicktime bundle that wont install seperately. IF its a select few people, RDP to there computers and install it as admin from a network share.
-
not a problem.

Couldnt install Exchange 2k7 on my Server08 RC0 test machine, with the SP1 build it will install on server 08.

Providiny you dont synchronise with the companys servers, then the information is stored on there laptop, and they have a licence to use it. IF it gets synchronised to the servers, there is a problem. With the "Company owned laptop / personal laptop" personal laptop is ok, company laptop is a no-no.
-
How did you package it to deploy via GPO? I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure it out. We have a global machine policy covering all machines except the servers, you can get an .MSI version of office 2007 compatiablility pack and roll it out as a software item the same as office, publisher, shadowcopy etc...
-
Evaluation of RC0 lasts untill April. Not sure if thats going to be the official release date, but considering you cant evaluate after that for more than the standard micro$oft 30day evaluations, im guessing its pretty close to april.

Its not proxy settings? Internet Explorer -> Options -> Internet Options If there is a proxy server address set in there, by the manufacturer testing, some software or accidentally, it will get a local connection, but never find the non-exsistant proxy and never allow internet access. Also, try a wireless USB Dongle to see if its a network card issue. Psy.

We have a VLAN called guest, and an ACL (Access Control List) applied to that VLAN that ONLY ALLOWS DNS, DHCP, HTTP and HTTPS traffic. It then blocks all traffic to internal adresses apart from the firewall, and allows any other adress, so providing a website doesnt start with 10.0, they can access it, and not have any access at all to internal printers, servers etc... Works very well.

We had a problem with the firmware on the wireless module. Updated the firmware and Vista was able to connect no probs. Si

Sounds strange, but wait untill you see which format the porn industry take, serious. Thats usually the decider as they produce an untold percentage of the media market in USA and it reflects on most other countries lol. ps= dcmccoy, EVE-Online avatar?

We purchase the laptops with a 3 year warantee /w accidental cover. This allows the NIC's to be replaced if damaged, and most laptops last 3+ years, and are usually replaced when they can no longer perform the tasks the teacher needs within a reasonable amount of time. The only oens replaced this year were 4 stolen / misplaced ones which 2 of were claimed partly back on the insurance, however the other 2 did not contact the Bursar and arrange a new one, and have cost us full price.

We backup from servers to a NAS LaCie drive (A) every week, and then take all them backups to another LaCie (B) on the other side of site at the end of the month. 4 weekly backups, then push it to another location for the months worth. Using 300Gb of a 500Gb drive at current, and thats backing up last years staff and students untill christmas when we put it onto our third backup drive © that contains leaver data for 3 years before being destroyed. (A) 1 Week Cycle, Automatic (B) 1 Month Cycle, Automatic © Manual Yearly Process Done on Friday Night / Sat Morning (1am), and the Monthls on a Sat Night / Sunday Morning. All going over Fibre to the quieter switches on site.
