AC/DC rock my world.. I'm ripping out the car CD unit to go back to my MP3 system, as I have a LOT of AC/DC on it. Plus some bon jovi, Metallica, Iron Maiden, some fear factory... I find it relaxing to work to.

On my person: My keys, my SLT (heh) door release swipe, my 4gb and 16gb cruzer, with utilities, portable apache/SQL server onboard, a walking stick if I need it, my Acer Aspire One netbook, and my OPCOM Vauxhall interface unit (quite a few staff have Vx inclusing me, so I keep it to hand), and my iPaq Voice messenger/mobile. In the car: Full toolkit, gas soldering iron, lumphammer, WD40, jumpleads..sometimes handy for computers or staff vehicles.

PGM-Fi is usually fairly bombproof...rover used it in a few of them as well...I only ever had one die on me, and that was the main relay that had corroded and turned to mush. Also read that the fuel relay unit is prone to being stupid.. the mileage is bunk - I've taken my old rover in with a semi-complete digital dash conversion minus speedo readout and they've passed it, and I took my renault in with a speedo that hadn't worked since the last MOT..no issue with either. Even when the reading's gone backwards, they've been OK.

stuff the service, it won't necessarily help. You have no choke..it'll be EFi, either single or multipoint. That's a red herring. I'd also say the ignition is probably fine..here's why.. First point, check if you have an emergency fuel cutoff (impact safety cutoff)..it's easy to catch and accidentally kill the pump supply. I'll see if I can find out if/where they are on Civics. Point 2 -open your fusebox, check them all. If the pump fuse goes, you'll run for a few seconds on fuel in the line, then die. I used to immobilise my astra this way. It'll be repeatable if you give it a while to refill the lines, but without the pump the pressure is nil and she no go. Doubtful on the filter..they're gradual, not catastrophic. Not plugs etc either, I'd suspect. Sounds like fuel starvation to me, from hours of playing with the EFi on mine. Starting with no fuse in is a recommended way to purge and depressurise the EFi system prior to dismantling (when I did my injectors). Fords are a tit when worn, as the cold start injectors flood the chambers..the cure is to pull the fuse, floor the throttle and run it until it does, then put the fuse back in and restart..That was a dealer fix too..heh. Fuse first, look for a cutoff second.

I have to disagree..MOT doesn't cover the brakes..efficiency yes, condition no. You could have deathtrap brakes with shot to hell pads, yet if it stops for the MOT, you're fine. Chassis too - they can't move bodykits etc...you could quite feasibly have rotten sills and severe structural issues, but if they're covered at MOT time, the tester can't move the bits to see, so he'll pass it. I've had a car pass MOT and 4 minutes later put me into a skid towards an oncoming lorry due to total brake failure and pad disintegration...that's when I went and had a nice chat to the tester and found out that the MOT is, in his words "not as great as people think". You don't even need a speedo for MOT..

Run up the new site on DNN 6. Set up e-mail/drive maps/ESXi/Move the virtualised machinery to the ESXi Servers 7. Test repeatedly. 8. Test the AV matrices/AV provision/BMS/GSHS/UPS/ and so on 9. Learn Zenworks 10. Close the old site down for the last time. Lock the doors, turn the lights out. 11. Help the staff move all their junk. All fun.

We've got a library in our new academy...part IT suite too, but it's no different to the existing one. We're not *quite* BSF though..similar thing, different setup. Library was always in the blueprints.

ah, been there. This office was next to the teaching one originally, so we sledgehammered the wall and cut a doorway. Old BT kit all over the place for our old dead Meridian system, so we chopped the wires, chucked them into the cavity and plastered it ourselves. Wasn't as dead as all that, as it turned out..we cut off the training centre! BT came to see..walked into the office.."there used to be a junction box here..".. Cue whistling and denials..

Give it a few weeks, we'll be there too. IT Tech are already packed and ready to move as soon as the new offices are secured, desked and phoned. Other departments are still skipping things. All of our stores are empty, all of our kit is on rundown and set for reimaging with generic XP, all our boards and kit is being labelled up for the new "owners", and all of our critical services have been virtualised ready for "drop and run" on our spanky new ESXi servers. We're just marking time here now. We've been over to the new site..the satellite cabs are in, core switches are in, firebox is in, door codepads and maglocks are in and running on the office and server room...even the office aircon looks like it's a runner. It's going to be ever so odd after 9 years to be turning out the lights for the last time ever, and walking out of the office and through empty deserted rooms, never to return. After that, it'll be the demolition ball.

I'm afraid I never liked his music, I never really liked the person either. Oh dear, he's dead, life goes on. I don't envy the coroner, unpicking that mangled mess of a body. I'd say he punched his own card a few years back.

As to the pics...all I can say is...my gods, short skirts or no, yer onto a loser there. Yes, I'm not PC and I'm not embarrased about it either. We had it here - no uniform code for years..summer was EVIL. THOSE skirts are NOT short compared to what we used to get. Or low cut muffin tops with it all hanging out, quite literally. It got to the point where I refused to a) Be alone in a room, and b) Go under any desks to check cabling etc. I lost count of how many times we had the "whoops, I dropped my pen sir" followed by the deliberate slow bend down and so on. It's all water off a ducks back now. Cellulite..yummy. I did have recourse several times to say "put it away, please", or "You're overflowing", or just occasionally to suggest I should call greenpeace with a harpoon. Introducing a strictly enforced uniform is one of the best things that ever happened here. I used to work in a girls school for a while..now THAT was an interesting experience...lost count of how many times we got flashed..thankfully I had my windows frosted for a reason. Also, synchronised PMT...heh..

We talk to them all...95% are really chatty, some are just downright miserable. 1 keeps telling me "I had that dream about you last night again, and you didn't let me". He's a scream, that man.. He's told a lot of the staff we're "intimate", and that i'm a "juicy little man". But then I do refer to him as "Hey Sexy" and "Hello Big Boy". Even worse, his wife's as big a wind-up as he is (also on staff)..heh..we do get some looks. You have to have a laugh in this place, or you'd go mad.

ditto...I have 2 12v/5w (or is it 3w)panels charging (right now) a 5ah 12v SLA battery, with 3 ex-vehicle cigarette lighter sockets attached. To this go: Phone chargers fast-charge 12v AA/AAA charger other 12v in car type stuff. One socket has a 12v-usb adapter in it for powering USB stuff. Then I'm eyeing up a 120w 12v-240v inverter for emergency power, that I'll fit to the box. I want the box inside, the panels out. So far, it's worked very well indeed..the battery is continually at 13.5v+. I will expand it at some point with a cheapo scrapyard car battery (£10). I found a dead garden light in a bucket of water yesterday..10 minutes later I'd stripped it for the circuit and panel. Panel is 3v-4v tops. That's going to be attached to my 2xAA AM/FM radio and hopefully give me a near as damnit perpetual powered radio. I'd like a small turbine as well, TBQH..heh.

Hah, yes. A few of the "old guard" as we're now called remember her..95% of the staff have gone. The one's who remain have been here years and could be carbon-dated (except me)

we moved the heads escort into the assembly hall...that confused people a bit.. It's not exactly hard to get all of the year together to lift a MK3 'scort after all. This years 11s left quietly..shirt and book signing everywhere (we print out labels and stick them in), and the odd few hugs. Some kids are weird, they actually like us. IIRC I'm the in the leavers assembly slideshow with a big hammer, saying "I'll miss you all, if you run fast enough and dodge when I go home." Bless. "will you miss us?"...every year the same question. Been here 9 years, seen so many come and go. The only ex-student I don't miss is the one I'm taxiing around with morning sickness..and it's a bit hard to get shot of her after all this time..
