  1. Our LEA use an external company to fit our CAT5...but we have been known to do it and feign ignorance. We've had our asbestos surveys done, and to be honest it's as quick and cheap for us to do it. It creased me up that me and the Network Manager had to go on a course to "Learn to wire/patch/terminate cat5 cable"...we were in hysterics.. In, 5 minutes, out in time for a cuppa. It makes me seethe to think my taxes pay for that stupidity.
  2. I use Nlite...
  3. I use PHP Calendar, with source mods to allow for the 4 suites to work properly. The staff can see the rooms from our intranet, and can call us to book for them. No probs so far. Not hard to set up either. I've just installed it with Abyss Web Server, PHP and SQL on our XP CCTV/ghostcast Server.
  4. We looked at Mambo, and are set to roll with it. However, the authority has a product that it insists we use that integrates nicely with our CMIS systems. I've forgotten the title...no, scratch that, it's a VLE, by Serco systems. The challenge for us is to get it working with our online curriculum...
  5. Yes, we use Print manager Plus...the kids hate it..
  6. For gods sake, DON'T use Symatec Web Security if you want a proxy. We've had it foisted on us by the authority for 5 years, and it's frankly poo. No bulk user import/creation/backup, variable performance, and so damned flaky... We'll be moving as soon as we can, I fear.
  7. Sysprep, Ghost 8.0 Corporate. Although I can't ghostcast due to something in the switches hating it..
  8. We go for optical mice, cable tied with KB/NIC/VGA lead through the case security hole. We also have our office situated in the middle of the main IT suite, with all 5 suites covered by CCTV, running off the machine on my desk with a Geovision GV900 card in it. We have close on 135 PCs in these suites, but haven't had any mice damaged/nicked in 14 months. Dell badges, yes. Even Keycaps. But no mice..
