if it's the DVB-T usb stick in black, go to freecoms site, download the BDA drivers...once you have those, you have more access to programs it'll work with. The standard Feecom NON-BDA drivers are tied into their software.

we've been asked to broadcast it through the building-wide AV matrix switcher from the sky box, to every smartboard and plasma in the building from 2.50pm. Then I've got to push it through to the SCION interlink into the AMX, and into the school theatre. Dear me.

Hmm...tempting to look at adding some to our 96-strong matrix here...we have cams covering loo exits, but every day now the little barstewards are doing something...stripping down the auto soap dispensers/trying to torch them (WHY FFS?), flooding the loos etc. Yesterday I was called to photograph the Year 7-9 boys hand drier...pulled totally off the wall (4 screws and rawplugs gone), partially stripped (with bits in the bin), STILL LIVE(!), left hanging by the 240v wires with the elements/motor exposed. When I went to handle it, it activated..I forgot they were auto-on. Needless to say we broke out the IT Dept building Master key and hit the isolator for it in the cupboard, then locked the loo in question and summoned SLT and site manager... Problem is, you can't prove which kids did it with the exit cam..they're all either saying "it was like that", or "I saw nothing"..you know DAMN WELL one of them did it, but you can't prove it.

we are now. Problems..none, we were still LEA when it happened. New contracts to sign IF you chose to, otherwise you could TUPE. Moved into a brand new facility, problems..minimal, non-LEA, non-BSF, self-run systems throughout. Ours went very, very smoothly..

*chuckle* Jems workplace had similar...we were asked to look at it, as it was "a bit slow". 1 old Poweredge SC, sat on the floor, no UPS etc, surrounded by mess with a CRT on top. 8 port router/switch by this providing internet to entire company wires coming off this like spaghetti, taped to carpets, run round floorboards etc to office PCs one wire pushed through a hole drilled in the wall to the office next door (studio) This wire ran to another 8 port switch, supplying more PCs in the studio..then it joined to ANOTHER 8 port (not sure why). More wires taped to the floor etc. One wire was worn down to the twisted pairs. We ripped it all out. there were loopbacks, "dead" cables, we even discovered a headless XP box sat under/between 2 desks, acting as a print server to a LAN enabled Printer/Fax/Scanner. The funniest bit? The whole place was structured cabling enabled, even down to a wallmount rack! They've just ignored it. All got recabled, switches consolidated, excess removed, wifi point added, server stripped down to find hard disks just held in with 1 screw, lots of dust etc. All sorted. Then we asked about backups..."erm..maybe, at some point.."..so we sent the boss out to buy 2x500gb USB disks. 1 batch backup script later on a schedule, and both disks contain the server data..one taken off site, 1 in place at all times. Still no UPS or surge protection mind you, and it's iffy power down there...

Ours drives me batty, it really does. It's small-bore piping in a 250 year old house. I'm talking 10mm max. It works. Ish. However, it never gets the place overly warm. OK, huge thick walls, single glazing, open plan..it's going to struggle. Except our bathroom..small double-panel rad, roof window...even with the heating off (as in off at the programmer, in "Water only" mode), the damn rad runs screamingly hot, even if every other one is stone-cold. There are times it's been TOO HOT in the bathroom to entertain using it. Screwy CH system indeed...

You find? My Inspiron was a doddle, plus Dell publish a full "how to teardown" guide for it...

most often the (!) is "you have the handbrake on, you doofus". Or pad/fluid level issues. But if it goes off when you release the handbrake that's what that is. French cars - never again. Had 2, spent lots, rarely had 100% of the things working. Nice cars mind. Just chocolate electrics. On a lot of cars, the "engine/ecu fault logged but driveable" is the engine block lamp, and it flashes if it's a "FFS, Don't drive me" issue. My astras have 2, 1 for that and 1 for exhaust related problems. One of the reasons I bought my OBD2 laptop dongle - stuff paying a garage to read the codes and find issues...

Flawed advice my friend. If it has a catalyst, you'll kill it. Unburnt fuel into hot catalyst = major cat overheat/damage risk.

Anyone have any suggestions about how to do this? It's becoming the bane of my life now...kids search using the filetype:swf string, and then go to town on games. Ruddy frustrating and never ending. Proxywise, we have a Sophos WS1000 appliance. Good, but..doesn't appear to be overly "intelligent" (or should that be proactive?). We also have PolicyCentral installed if anyone knows of a way to stop it using that instead maybe... Cheers all!

Hmm. Going home, amusing baby daughter until missus has finished cooking random tea for all 3 of us, then eating and encouraging said daughter to try the foods we're having.. Then leave the cats to clear ground-zero highchair while we take her for bathtime, then amuse daughter until she gets naggy/sleepy. Once she's asleep, read a book and listen to the radio until it's time for bed about 9ish. Also got some washing and washing up to fit in to that, and re-blackout the roof window in the bedroom (4am wakeup this morning. Co-sleeping is ace, but babies don't quite get the "I don't function at this hour". Heh.) One day we'll get our evenings back..wouldn't change it though!

Daughter is now 6 months old, always happy, always chatty, rarely cries. Definetly a character. Today we've started (quite by accident) to communicate by raspberry blowing. If she wants to get my attention, it's "pppppt", and a big smile. Most replies to daddy involve "ppppppt" today, along with spitbubbles. So I do it back, as you do. I said at the time it's very similar to a daily helpdesk end user call really...lots of noise and dribble, no sense at all. So now she's sat on her mum next to me, refusing to nap but blowing raspberries at everything, and doing the standard "blahblahBLAHblahBLAHblahdadamumum" chattering that she does, having a good long natter at god knows what, and looking at me. So I looked at her and said "Really? Oh. Have you tried turning it off and on again?", and she blew a big dribbly raspberry in my face, let out a little loud squeal..and beat me with a rubber teething giraffe.. VERY similar to a daily end-user support call....including the toy-throwing...

I personally wouldn't touch it with a bargepole....if it can seal a hole in a rad core, consider your heater core...MUCH finer, much more blockable. Or some of the cylinger/cylinder head coolant passages. I've always resorted to scrapyards and "new" radiators. Or possibly look in the yellow pages/local garages and see if you can find someone that can do a proper repair to the rad. I had a Renault 25 V6 once that was sat on the MOT test ramp on test...the tester was running it up to temperature, and I heard a massive "BANG!" followed by swearing..looked through to see the 25 in clouds of steam, so I legged it over. The rad had split majorly and dumped all the boiling coolant. Nobody injured, but I had to shut it off fast as it was sounding MOST unhappy. Cost me £25 for a secondhand replacement. Radiators are too vital to take chances with.

IIRC, it's a K series (1.1/4/6/8) trait due to the design of the block/head/bolting system. We're trying to put some SMART Notebook 10 files into our IIS7 hosted online curriculum, yet keep getting HTTP404s with them. We know the files are there, we know it should work...it looks like a missing MIME type in IIS7... Any idea what MIME type I need to set? Can't find much out there on the web...

Admin do ours - high speed LJ4250, and 1 door away from the big double-exit doors. 1 button in the MIS fires the report off. Staff clear each room and should lock behind them, cleaners (all day long here) check the loos etc, and we in IT Services check the place on the way out to be double sure and shout at any kids we find lurking. We do tend to flick the office plasma over to the CCTV to view the recorders and search the fire out straight off. We can have 30 or so cameras on the screen at once and the controller on our desk.

mm..the Z16SE/Z16XE is supposed to do it. Can't say as my Z16SE does, mind. Mayo yes, usage no. I just beheaded the rocker cover last month and jetwashed it out..heh. Same with all the breathers - compressed air blowthrough, and throttle body removed and blasted clean with carb cleaner. Used to do it with the X16SZR as well. ish. Connectors do vary, as do protocols. And baud rates. It's all good fun. Also, if it's a Vauxhall 8 valve and drowning in mayo at the rocker cover, it's quite, quite normal. All of mine have, and it's called cr@p design..heh.

is it a Vauxhall? If so, ways and means, yes. Also, Vauxhalls aren't unknown for "heavy oil use"..for some engines it's considered normal. Both of mine have reasonably straightforward hookups. Post 2000 have a 16 OBD2 connector that plugs into my laptop (Best £25 I ever spent on eBay there, I leave the netbook plugged in and go for a spin while it logs all the data from the systems - most handy), pre 2000 have an odd plug (12 pins), or a 10 pin ALDL plug, which can be interrogated using..haha..a paper clip. My M reg threw up a failed MAP sensor using that. Basically, we need to know the car details..

One of the reasons that I take the car out before the MOT, and on the way I rag the bottom off it and give the brakes and catalyst a good hard workout..

cheers all.. I've printed a log sheet and self-test procedure, along with a front panel diagram to sit inside the cabs, to be filled in and followed on a monthly basis. At least until we get some of the smartslot management cards. We're contemplating the ones with built-in environmental monitoring to remotely monitor the comms rooms. Once we have some of them, the security gatehouse can monitor those 24/7, as they do with the web-enabled CliMate monitor in the main server room. Can't imagine they'll give much issue as it's only the catalysts in there. 2 have BMS-managed aircon even! Kind of pointless, but heyho. Cab3 has an air-circulation system the same as the classrooms - more than adequate. Just trying to go belt'n'braces on the whole shooting match..heh.
