  1. Thank you @Primus for your thoughts - sounds like a terrible experience.
  2. Hello all, I was hoping to get some of your thoughts on Connect @ Bett. This is their meeting booking option that's supposed to align attendees/exhibitors with a mutual interest in a 15-minute meeting at the venue. Have you done it before, if not, would you consider doing it? I am currently looking at sorting our stand for BETT 2023 and part of the package offered included Connect @ Bett. I can see the benefit for attendees as they can book meetings concerning potential projects, with exhibitors they would want to speak to, streamlining the process of attending BETT, but I'm not sure how popular this is and with everything from BETT it has got a nice price tag associated to us taking part. There is more information available here - https://uk.bettshow.com/connect-bett/education-institution-government-attendees Many thanks for your thoughts. Josh
  3. Hi @robk - the R510s will work from v 9.13 on the ZD. The 7363s work up to 9.12 so you would need to swap out all of the 7363s with R500/R510 etc AP and run at version 9.13 or greater if you wanted to look at keeping your same infrastructure. If you have a support contract on the ZD then you can upgrade the FW. If not, then the upgrade might fail the ZD will check whether there is an active support entitlement file. I'm not sure how well this works though so you might be ok. Alternatively, you could get a 1 year support renewal if it did cause issues as the EOS support goes through to Dec 2023. That would then allow you to upg your FW. If you were to upgrade your 7363s you could also migrate your management platform to SmartZone which would support R500/R510 - albeit the R500s on an older FW code.
  4. Sorry to hear about the issues. I hope Smoothwall are able to resolve them quickly for you. I can't think of any reason why this change would have caused any issues on the box so can only think it must be something unrelated.
  5. Sorry for any confusion. On the Ruckus Unleashed solution, in the 'IP Address' box you enter a new IP address in the same VLAN as the Ruckus currently appears. This is shared between all Ruckus Unleashed APs on your network, regardless of which is the Master. Then go to the Smoothwall and enter the new IP Address stated in the Ruckus Unleashed IP Address box as the Radius client. Remember to tick the 'Use for Radius Services' tick box on the Unleashed as well.
  6. Apologies - all the menu descriptions are similar across the portfolio and I didn't have an Unleashed GUI to hand so was doing it from memory. Yes, you're in the right place. Tick - 'Enable IPv4 Management Interface' Enter IP Address and subject mask Tick - 'Use for RADIUS services' Enter the IP specified in the Smoothwall
  7. Go to 'System' and then 'Network Settings' should be in that sub menu
  8. Hi @fiza - if you login to the Unleashed platform under 'Network Settings' I think is it there is a management address box, enter an extra IP address for Ruckus, and then there is a tickbox that says something like 'Radius requests to come from this IP address, which you then tick. This means you only need to set one client in the Smoothwall with the IP address you added.
  9. Hi @HCC - Sorry to hear of the issues. If you're able to it would be interesting to see if you set up a test SSID and turn off AX/Wi-FI 6 on that SSID. To do this you go into the SSID Config and there is a toggle button for Wi-FI 6. Join an iPad to that SSID and see if you experience any issues. Is your Unifi deployment Wi-Fi 6? I did a quick Google and it suggested that the 9th Gen iPad don't support AX so I wonder if this is causing some issues.
  10. Hi @robjduk - the suggested replacement for the Aruba 2930 48 PoE switch was the Aruba CX 6000 48G CL4 4SFP Switch. More information on the series can be found here - https://www.arubanetworks.com/products/switches/access/6000-series/ The Aruba 6000 is one of their new(ish) entry class Layer 2 access switch.
  11. Hi, @JRA I will certainly try to help- the first question would be do you know what firmware you're running on your ZD? The R500 should work on most versions unless it hasn't been upgraded in a really long time. I know it works on 9.9. I can check back further if needed. If you're running other R500s on your network then this shouldn't be an issue. The second would be - do you have spare AP management licenses? The ZD license threshold will need to match or exceed the number of APs you're looking to manage, including the one you're looking to add. Might be worth resetting the AP to standalone code as it could have to come to you in Unleashed or SmartZone code - to do so you will be to factory default it - paperclip for 10 seconds on the hole at the bottom near the power cable. Download the standalone code from the Ruckus support site. Upload that via the AP webpage (find the AP IP via DHCP). Once the AP has restarted, you should see the AP ready to be onboarded on the ZD dash. If not enough licenses it should show an error message stating this.
  12. Great! If you need any support with the RMA let me know. Unfortunately, once the ZD is down I don't think you can pull the config. Regarding licenses, Ruckus will re-allocate all associated licenses during the RMA so there isn't anything you will need to do.
  13. Great - no problem. If you need any advice on supported Unleashed FW for your AP models, or would like to run the session on your ZD, please let me know and will do what we can.
  14. Not what you want on a Monday morning - if you have availability we could run a short remote session just to see if there is anything we can do to recover the ZD and confirm whether it is more likely to be memory failure.
  15. Hi @JordanT91 sorry to hear you're having issues - could be worth checking to see the ZD hasn't reverted to its default IP. To test it - plug in a laptop and set the laptop to 192.168.0.10 and try pinging 192.168.0.2 (default IP) and see if you get a response. If you do it should allow you to login via the browser where you can correct the IP.
  16. Thank you for all of those that attended the webinar. I really hope you found it interesting. The on-demand recording is now available - https://www.net-ctrl.com/boxphish-webinar/ If you have any questions regarding the content discussed, please let me know.
  17. Just to confirm, are you going to the Access Point group to make the change? To get there - click into the Zone along the left-hand side of the dash. You will see from the drop-down menu under the Zone, your AP Groups. If you only have one group this will just say default. Click the pencil icon top left of the menu you're on. That will bring up a new window. On the 2.4Ghz tab go to the WLAN Group - select override to 'On' then choose the WLAN group with all networks. Repeat the last step on the 5Ghz tab, selecting the WLAN group without the 2.4 only SSID. Click Ok. Test. Let me know how you get on.
  18. Hello, it is possible, and slightly more involved than the Unleashed set-up. You need to create two WLAN groups. In group 1 - add all of your networks In group 2- add all the networks, except the one that only needs 2.4Ghz Go to AP Groups and change the 2.4 WLAN group to group 1. Then go to 5Ghz and change to group 2 - without the 2.4 SSID Let me know how you get on.
  19. Hello all, We have quite a few ex-demo Ruckus units that we're looking to sell. They're all in good condition, and most come with boxes. All come with t-grip brackets. Thought it was worth mentioning here to see if anyone would be interested. We have: 6x R510 - 802.11ac - Wave 2. 2x2:2 Indoor AP - £100 each 12x R610 - 802.11ac - Wave 2. 3x3:3 Indoor AP - £125 each 1 x R710 - 802.11ac - Wave 2. 4x4:4 Indoor AP - £150 each Postage is £10 for a single AP, cheaper for multiple purchases. These APs are all now EOS. They have been used for POC deployments over the years. We can set these up to run on ZoneDirector, SmartZone or Unleashed firmware. Supported firmware is as follows: Unleashed FW - 200.3 - 200.12 (R610 from 200.4) ZoneDirector FW - 9.13 - 10.5.1 (R610 from 10.0) (10.5 - Last supported version) SmartZone FW - 3.4.1 - 6.1 (Last supported version) Ideal if you're running an older Ruckus network, and looking for some cold spares, or to expand or upgrade certain APs. If being added to a ZD or SmartZone as additional points, you will need to purchase the AP management license as well. This is something we can sort out, or you could purchase these from a preferred partner. They could also form a small new network running on Unleashed firmware code. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Josh
  20. Great - glad it was an easy fix. If you provide the partner you're working with your ZD SN when you order the license and associated support line it will ensure the license is aligned to your account.
  21. Hi Lee - first thing to check would be whether you have enough AP management licenses to cover the additional AP. You should be able to see this in the admin panel on the dashboard. The AP licenses need to match, or exceed, the APs in the deployment. Next thing would be to confirm the AP supports the firmware you're running. If you have other R500s on the network this won't be an issue - they use most FW versions up to 10.4. If you're either running a new AP network, or an old AP network that might be worth checking. There is then a guide to add them to your network available here - https://docs.commscope.com/bundle/zd-10.3-userguide/page/GUID-C9AA1189-125E-4123-9EF0-1FAFD115EE8E.html this is for 10.3 but it's a similar, if not identical process on other versions. Any issues, please let me know.
  22. Hello - just bumping this thread. We still have some capacity to run surveys over summer. These can be our free-of-charge Predictive Designs through to our on-site Active Surveys. We have different approaches to suit different budgets. If you're planning a Wi-Fi migration next year, or just want to assess your current installation, please send us a PM and we can talk you through the process.
  23. Hello - there is a log in the ZD3k. Rather than time, it is to do with record count/line count. I can't remember the official count it records. On a school site, which tends to be busy it normally records around 24hrs if the site was closed or quiet it would last longer. It will show MACs but due to MAC randomisation, I don't think you will be able to use the data to pinpoint a user. To view the log go to 'System' - 'All Events/Activities'
  24. Hello all, Just a quick post to promote wireless survey availability in the summer. If you are planning a new wireless installation, want to check your existing or just plan for an expansion we can help. We have a team of trained Wi-Fi engineers that conduct all types of Wi-Fi surveys depending on the requirement. We use the market-leading software solution to design and report on Wi-Fi surveys. All on-site surveys are charged at a day rate of £795. Discounts are available should you purchase hardware off the back of the survey. There are various approaches to on-site surveys which we can discuss with you, some quicker than others to keep costs down should that be a requirement. We also run free-of-charge Predictive Designs, these are performed offsite using scaled plans. You are provided with a detailed report for all surveys, including Predictive Designs. Onsite work will also include a separate written report containing advisories/concerns etc from the engineer that visited. Please note for new installations/expansions these would need to be using Ruckus, for health-check/post-installation reports this can be any vendor. The reason for some being only Ruckus is to perform the survey you first need the proposed hardware, but also insights into the running of the solution. If anyone has any questions, please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you enjoy your day.
  25. Hi @AndyB4rks - thank you. We would love the opportunity to work on your project. Please send me a PM with some contact details and I will ask one of the WiFi team to get in touch to discuss further.
