Ruckus Cloud is their most expensive Cloud option - it is not something we don't typically recommend for schools just due to the cost. Depending on your AP count, management set-up will decide whether you go with Unleashed/SmartZone. As others have said Unleashed is controller-less, like the Aruba Insant-on approach. It puts management overhead on a Master AP. Up to 150 APs, with a few management limitations. I have a list that I will try to find that lists precisely what. SmartZone comes as either appliance, (SZ144), or virtual instance. The virtual SmartZone is the cheapest management route if you plan to continue to support a virtual environment. It also integrates with Ruckus Analytics, more relevant on networks 100+ APs, for network health monitoring etc. You can also manage switches on the SmatZone platform.

Hi Carl, if you're using the Wi-Fi for VOIP you ideally need signal performance around -62dBm. Depending on the size of your site it could be worth getting an on-site survey conducted to see what performance you're getting from the new solution - it may be that you need to add in a few more APs which the report would highlight. There may be some QoS settings in Ubiquiti you can play around with to prioritise VOIP on defined SSIDs - not something I am familiar with so will leave others to comment on that. EDIT - Apologies judging by other posts- looks like I misinterpreted the post

I have a confession to make..due to a series of unconnected delays the BETT draw has not yet happened which I can only apologise for. It is however happening today... Thank you to all those that came to see us - I will look to record the draw and get it online later today. We have 73 entrants with a chance to win our grand prize of a Steam Deck - we also have some runner-up bundles prizes up for grabs. Each bundle has a Verkada YETI mug, an insulated bottle, socks, battery packs, stress bones and a £5 Costa voucher.

Hello all, Whilst we have seen significant improvements in lead times with Ruckus across their AP/switch portfolio we are still advising all of our current clients to speak to us if they need summer allocation as stock is still limited across certain portfolios and we want to ensure we have the best chance to deliver what people need, when they want it. If you have any Ruckus requirements, or considering a Wi-Fi/switch upgrade/replacement for summer, please send me a PM and we can work with you to understand your requirements and build out a proposal. We can also advise on shipping expectations and suggest alternative AP/switch models on better availability. We can only confirm these once an order is raised. The earlier these discussions start the better chance we have at being able to deliver- this seems to be the case across most enterprise vendors. We are working closely with Ruckus and UK distribution to meet all deadlines where possible. Please note any opportunities will need to be registered with Ruckus before we can advise on pricing. Stock is subject to availability through official distribution channels. Many thanks, Josh Moore

Hi @chazzy2501 if you're looking at Vape detection the SV23 list price is £836 I think - into EDU there are of course good discounts available on this and isn't a great indicator of end-user pricing. There is the SV25 sensor which is their top tier one which I am not 100% on the price of that one - but I think the list price is around the £1k mark.

Thanks for post synaesthesia - someone here had noticed there had been a change in the company name and previous web addresses were no longer working and no redirects set-up. Always a little concerning. Posting here just for relevance to the thread - we have a Verkada vape session this Thursday - Verkada won't be for everyone and it's certainly not at the lower end of the market price point for anyone that is interested you can sign up here - https://verkada.zoom.us/webinar/register/3416800349780/WN_pPRAkfJpS8mhMbDKMKlsxA#/registration We will run a Q+A after the session so also an opportunity to pose questions about best practices - approach etc. All attendees will get access to their free trial programme so you can test them out in your own environment. We can also look to align an SE to work with you in configuring the unit and setting parameters for detection.

We had some great feedback with this session - with a lot of people also asking for more focus on the Verkada vape detection solution. As a result of this, and lots of questions at BETT we will be running a follow-up session just on vape - how to detect it and how to prevent it. You can sign up here - https://verkada.zoom.us/webinar/register/3416800349780/WN_pPRAkfJpS8mhMbDKMKlsxA#/registration Or view the other EduGeek thread for more information - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/our-advertisers/232541-webinar-net-ctrl-verkada-how-detect-prevent-vaping-27th-april.html

At BETT we had a lot of interest and questions about the Verkada vape sensors/air quality sensors so we wanted to put on a session that focuses on this area of the Verkada portfolio. You can join Net-Ctrl and Verkada on the 27th April at 14.00. We will be joined by some of the Verkada team as we look at how you can address the ongoing student vaping epidemic with Verkada’s integrated system of cameras and air quality sensors. In particular, we will address how Verkada can: Add visibility to data-based insights to more accurately detect, prevent and manage vaping. Monitor high-risk areas like bathrooms, locker rooms, and hallways without infringing on privacy. Set up configurable alert thresholds and notify administrators via SMS or email. Review historical event footage and get the insights you need to take action in real-time, as well as, log events over time to identify patterns and investigate as needed. We will finish with a Q+A. Webinar details When: Thursday - April 27th at 2.00PM Topic: Student Vaping: How to Detect and Prevent Vaping on Campus Registration link: https://verkada.zoom.us/webinar/register/3416800349780/WN_pPRAkfJpS8mhMbDKMKlsxA#/registration If you can't attend the live session but are interested in the topic - please register and I will ensure a link to the recording is sent out. All attendees will also get sent a free Verkada YETI mug and access to a free trial program so you can test out the Air Quality / Vape Sensors in your own environment. We will confirm shipping addresses after the session. Please let me know if you have any questions.

@dhicks - we can help you out with door entry / visitor management if you didn't have much luck finding any at BETT

It seems that Connect@BETT is not going away. We were told if we wanted to re-book we had to take it and it's not a cheap add-on. I gave feedback from our experience, and those from EduGeek users and asked to be included in dialogue with the people behind Connect. Hopefully, this opportunity is given. One thing that was apparent to me was the very very broad tech areas - I struggled to find where we even fit in their breakdown. Given that this is a tech show it was just silly. If this was much more granular, into specific areas (MIS, Switching, Wi-Fi, CCTV etc) it should allow companies to better position themselves, and for attendees to search specific companies that can meet a specific need, and vice-versa. This would hopefully reduce the amount of emails going out as well. This year their advice to exhibitors was to send 100s of invites. Something we didn't and never intended to do. I can see the potential in Connect being a good option for those down for a few hours/single day with a long list of companies to meet/research to carry out. It would allow a more streamlined approach - however the meetings are more formal, and we personally, much prefer meeting people at our stand for more informal conversations.

We have recently partnered with Mimecast so if you, or anyone was interested in their approach to email security, please send me a PM and we can set-up a demo and Q+A. They have an ever-growing EDU following and integrate really nicely with O365.
-
Hi @5nowman - we can work through the above with you. The options outlined in this thread should still be available for you as well - we can raise an RMA on the failed unit on your behalf with Ruckus. They state up to 28 days for replacement but sometimes the turnaround is a lot faster. In the interim we can look to switch you to Unleashed, a bit of hands on work from you/your team would be needed, so you have some form of Wi-Fi network. Unless co-termed the shortest support contract for lapsed contracts is 1 year so even if we put an application in for an additional discount and that was approved there would still be a cost associated with this dependant on the numbers of APs you have. If you would like to go through your options in more detail feel free to send me a P with your email, or a suitable time to call to discuss further.

Reminder to all attending BETT to download your entry slip and come to see us at BETT! We have some great solutions on our stand this year, including some news ones (Verkada and Mimecast). I will print a few and leave them at the EduGeek stand for anyone that forgets.

From an exhibitor's perspective that is a very odd response - the purpose of an exhibition is to have informal conversations on the show floor.
