I think it would be a good opportunity to meet with the different vendors assuming some that you would consider are attending for initial fact finding/demos also integrators like Net-Ctrl are there to discuss solutions with. If you don't attend end up attending and would like vendor calls/demos set-up we can do so for the likes of Ruckus and Aruba.

Hi Rob - We work with Fortinet, specifically on their cybersec portfolio and could assist. Please send a PM if you'd like us to take a look and I will ask one of our Fortinet team to get in touch. Thanks, Josh

In regards to your Wi-Fi network design - assuming you don't have the devices to run a live simulation - if you're looking to assess what you currently have and whether it is going to deliver what you need it could be worth getting a Wi-Fi survey completed including density planning. They would need to know the device type/qty in a particular location and can run predictive density tests in your live environment. This would gauge how well set up you are - it might also highlight other considerations. If a company has previously done an on-site survey they might be able to do this for you without visiting site again.

Ruckus - Q4 Stock availability / promotions
Net-Ctrl replied to Net-Ctrl's topic in Wireless Networks
Yes and no..horrible answer I know. It doesn't work out of the box. You would need Cloudpath, which is Ruckus' onboarding solution, priced per user (not device). So perhaps not a cost-effective solution here. There might be a 3rd party that integrates with Unifi that adds that functionality. Someone mentioned WiFlex on a call the other day but I don't know any more about it - but could be worth a Google. -
Hi all, If you have any Wi-Fi plans and have a Ruckus solution in place or would like to consider them as part of a wider replacement, please send me a PM. We are seeing good stock availability across most, if not all, of their AP models. Something we haven't been able to say in quite a while. Stock is also in good supply across the newer switch models - but not all - we can advise on options and availability. There are also a number of promotions running so we could advise on the options available and the price points. These include competitive swap-outs, ZoneDirection migrations, EDU pricing and more. thanks, Josh

Good Morning everyone - just a reminder later today we are running a webinar with Mimecast, led by Malcolm Murphy, SE Director at Mimecast on the 19th of September @ 14:00 pm. We will be delving into Mimecast’s seventh annual State of Email Security report compiling the latest insights from 1,700 CISOs and other IT professionals. The report presents a realistic picture of the steps they're taking to protect their organisations in the face of increases in email usage, email-based threats, and the sophistication of cyberattacks. We will be taking a look at the report's findings on the state of email security and trends in the cybersecurity landscape and what this might mean for Education organisations.

Webinar: Smarter Schools, Safer Students: Detect Vaping with Verkada's All-in-One Sensors Following the announcement of the extended Verkada Vape Sensor pricing promotion we will be running another vape focussed webinar with Verkada on the 27th September at 2PM. We will look at how Verkada’s hybrid-cloud CCTV and air quality sensors help to detect, prevent and manage vaping in schools. Join this live webinar as we will highlight TWO new alert features, that you may have not previously been aware of, which are now available to ALL current and prospective customers! These features use a combination of cross-product camera and sensor features that integrate people analytics capabilities with Verkada sensor alerts to simplify investigations. 1) People Detections: See a simplified list of all people detected before, during, and after a sensor alert. 2) People Activity Overlay: The sensor graph will now display an area chart indicating people activity detected by the camera We will also be looking more generally at the Verkada vape prevention solution and how they’re being used in schools and colleges. This will be worth listening to if vape prevention and reporting has been mentioned to you, or if you’re considering purchasing a solution within the next school year. If you can't attend the live session but are interested in the topic - please register and I will ensure a link to the recording is sent out. We hope you can join us. After the success of the summer vape promotion, we have been able to get the discounted pricing extended until the 31st of October. During this time Net-Ctrl is offering the Verkada SV23 with cloud licensing at exclusive and highly discounted pricing. We have heard from many clients about the challenges they encounter trying to manage and deter students from vaping across their sites. We are also acutely aware of the financial restraints in Education and with IT investment, especially towards newer challenges, such as vaping, that don’t have an allocated budget. With these factors in mind, Net-Ctrl has been working with Verkada on an Education-specific pricing structure for their SV23 vape sensor, with the option to add discounted CCTV that integrates on the same hybrid-cloud platform. The sensors will detect vaping, and the cameras will record the responsible party on the same platform – accessible anywhere. For a limited time, we can now offer a highly discounted price exclusive to Net-Ctrl available on the Verkada SV23 with 1, 3, 5 and 10-year license options available. As well as their CM42 camera. Even with this discounted model, we are well aware that this still requires a good level of investment - if you are experiencing challenges detering, reporting and managing vape detection we can run one-on-one sessions with you so you can see the platform and decide whether this solution is worth the investment. For more information - we have an on-demand webinar where you can learn more about their platform and vape portfolio: https://www.net-ctrl.com/verkada-web...ape-detection/ To request official pricing, or if you have any questions, please email [email protected] or send me a PM. Since our last post there have been a couple of updates on the Verkada vape portfolio: Powerful New Tools to Help Address the Vaping Epidemic - https://www.verkada.com/uk/blog/powerful-new-tools-to-help-address-the-vaping-epidemic/ Bringing Even More Actionability to Verkada Air Quality Monitoring - https://www.verkada.com/uk/blog/bringing-even-more-actionability-to-verkada-air-quality-monitoring/

Net-Ctrl and Mimecast will be running an insightful webinar on the state of email security - and what this means for education organisations, on the 19th of September @ 14:00 pm. Mimecast conducted a report whereby CISOs and IT professionals have provided insights on their current protection measures and threats faced. Mimecast has corroborated these findings and created an annual report. We will be presenting the main findings of the report, and how these might affect your security posture. This will be an excellent opportunity to compare/contrast your current security portfolio - and understand the landscape of cyber threats to education in 2023. The session will conclude with a live Q+A on the content, or if you have anything specific Mimecast-related. Webinar details: When: Sept 19, 2023, 02:00 PM London Time Webinar Topic: The State of Email Security & What it Means for Education Register for the webinar: https://pages.info.exclusive-networks.com/net-ctrl-stateofemailsecuritywebinar After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. A recording will be sent out after the session to all those that register - so if the content is of interest but you're unable to attend the main session, please still register. By registering you will be sharing your details with Net-Ctrl, Mimecast and their distribution partner Exclusive Networks UK. We will delete your data within 30 days of the event and won't use your data for any further communications beyond this event.

We can also arrange free surveys and health checks of existing solutions. These are dependent on engineer availability.

Ruckus have announced a new Ruckus ZoneDirector migration promotion – this comes with the ZD3000 already EOS (31/12/2023), and the ZD1200 soon to be no longer supported. Supported for replacement until 2027 To make this migration possible and more cost-effective, Ruckus has designed a promotion offering high discounts for Ruckus ZoneDirector users migrating to either the SmartZone (virtual or appliance) or Ruckus Cloud (aka Ruckus One) management solutions. In addition to this saving - Net-Ctrl can help manage the migration process and support you throughout. We will review your current AP estate and advise which Aps would be supported and on what firmware versions – we are also submitting discount applications to support clients to upgrade part/all of their AP estate at the same time. If you have an existing ZD solution and are interested in seeing some pricing for the migration you can either email [email protected] or send a PM and we can talk through your options.

We were getting asked lots of questions around vape at the start of the year - and tested a few solutions - we looked at Halo and Verkada in more detail at that time as there wasn't many other solutions available in the UK- since I have also seen Triton, Meraki MT14, SMF (name may have changed)..there may well be more now. We really liked the Verkada solutions because of the integration across sensors - cctv- access control etc. The platform and product looks really smart. They offered 10 year warranty on 48hr replacement which we thought was ideal for EDU. Cloud hosted. 24/7 support. It ticked a lot of boxes. We also were impressed with their dedication to their portfolio with constant improvements and innovations. We have most recently been working with them on pricing - to try and get it right for the UK EDU market -we're currently running a summer promotion on their sensors - a SV23 + 1 year which are heavily discounted(discounts also available on 3,5 and 10-year options)- we're much cheaper than where we were earlier in the year. If anyone is considering sensors/vape detection - we can set-up a demo of the solution. They do much more than vape - like temp, motion, humidity etc - so could be used in other roles - like environmental monitoring in server rooms etc

Apologies to those that have registered - we are going to have to delay this session. Our speaker has unfortunately had to pull out of leading this discussion. We will update a new date/time ASAP.

For anyone looking at sensors for summer we will shortly be announcing/running a special price promotion through to the end of August with Verkada on their SV range. It offers really good discounts on the Verkada sensor hardware and licensing. For renewals - you would also maintain the discount level on this offer. If you would be interested in getting some pricing - please send me a DM, or email me at [email protected]. This pricing is subject to Deal-Registration. We can also run calls on the solutions etc. Verkada have also recently released a new FW for their sensor with a revised vape algorithm offering better detection/reduced false readings from aerosols etc - https://www.verkada.com/uk/blog/bringing-even-more-actionability-to-verkada-air-quality-monitoring/ We also have a recorded webinar on their vape portfolio that is freely available - https://www.net-ctrl.com/verkada-webinar-vape-detection/

Hi - The Aruba AP-505 isn't a multi-gig AP - as such wouldn't require Cat 6 - as Cat 5E support 1Gbe. You also wouldn't need multi-gig switches as the APs wouldn't support it. One thing to check would be PoE budget - to ensure you can run the APs on the switches you have. If budget allows of course Cat6 and multi-gig would future proof your deployment but based on your device usage - is possibly a bit overkill. If not so already we would also suggest a Wi-Fi survey is completed with any upgrades as the environment can change. Aruba Instant-On is their entry solution - I think to compete with the likes of Ubiquiti - it's a low price point.

Even without knowing the site that seems excessive for 20 data points! What is the spec being put forward? If you would appreciate a second pair of eyes on it I can see if someone from our install team could look over the requirements and put a cost forward - or at least advise whether that is reflective of the work involved - given some are in difficult areas.
