I may be a good 2 years behind everyone else but I one of my hard drives in my school workstation was struggling to spin up so I thought I would replace it with a SSD drive... just the cheapest one from CCL as I was a bit sceptical. WOW.. I know how data feels when he plugs his pozytronic brain into the enterprise now... flying. On a sour not though, as an idiot I upgraded to HDCLONE professional to clone my old HD to my new one... which didn't work.. and then realised all I have to do is mirror the drive across then break it.

Messed up my system again, did the DB fine last night but the clients don't update... well some do but it just says successful and doesn't do the ones that come online in the morning. Prob my setup though as I have a windows network running on cat5.

Hi, I purchased 2 of these boards from BT Business direct (Dabs) and managed to get the wrong size.. I needed the 660. They are willing to take 1 back with a 10% re-stocking fee but want 50% for the one I opened so I am going to try and sell it privately. Its brand new, I opened the box and took it out and realised it was too small... all my fault. Hi, Is anyone else having issues with Eclipse 2 and its ability to get book information online? Its quite sporadic and our librarian has told me other schools are having similar issues but I can't nail down the issue as its not happening all the time. The help section shows discovery is online and working but when you scan a ISBN book the detaisl do not show up... but they will do sometimes. This seems to be the newer books and I have checked the ISBN is valid by doing a search. The cynic in me wonders if its a ploy to try and get us onto Eclipse.Net but thats unfounded. Simon

Hi guys, I have just invested in my first L3 switch.. woohooo. I intend to try and get some VLANS up and running in the following break, just starting off small with the security cameras. Has anyone used netgear stuff for Vlanning before? I've got my head round the ranges I am going to use and all the rest of the switches are L2 ones. Comes with a free 10GB module also..... which will sit in my draw till I get the budget to buy another one 3 year NBD support too. Shame they couldn't swap it for 2 x GB modules instead which I could use now.

I have powerout controlling the power in school which cost me £250 5 years ago which I am more than happy with. I did like Impero but thought it was just too much for us, I can't justify the cost. We are a smallish school so the tutor machines would cost a fair whack.

Can anyone give costs for these.. I have one for Impero and the Abtutor site gives a price of around £150 ish per teacher machine... what about Netsupport and Lanschool?

Not sure, I think so. I have a nice mix of successful, offline and failed. I've increased the timeout now for the deployment so see if that helps because I am getting partially successful deploys everytime.

Baby steps from Sims. The redploy is fine but flawed. If I redploy say 30 machines and 3 of them fail, if I go into redploy again then all the machines say successful NO.. so if I click Select unsuccessful all get deployed again. Also, why does it list all the machines again when you redploy 30?? I have 130 deploys to look through. This morning I had around 30 with deployment timeouts when I suspect they were off which solus 3.4.103 should have fixed. Its just a mess and we shouldn't have this with every update.

I just got a quote, 300 machines its £26,000 Quote is for Design premium and DW seperate.. doesn't look right to me.

Seems to be working now, they had to create a BTBUSINESS email account for the realy for my domain to work (????) but its sending fine now. They said I can use that account to send through the BT relay from another ISP if I use the email account as security so at least thats a bonus. Hope this helps someone if they get stuck int he same boat as me.

Afternoon, I am looking at getting a upgrade price for our Macromedia Suite 8 to the latest CSS version but a little baffled by the options. Currently we have DW, Flash and FW and its just these really that we want to upgrade. The new Adobe suites seem to have added guff that we don't really want. Has anyone got site licenses for just these items? I had a quick look at Pugh but the points thing was a bit weird.

Morning, I have been asked about a simple messaging system for the kids in school.. somethign that sits in the system tray and allows teacher to message the kids one way (or configurable so they can only reply to teacher). I have read a few threads including the the Openfire solution but haven't seen any videos on how it works in a real school. Anyone got any advice?

Another 45 minutes on the phone Its still not working as it needs to go to backoffice to create an account so the mail relay works... which is not mentioned anywhere in the world. I have had to buy a smarthost for now to get the sending to work (only a tenner a month). It started workign for me last night so I thought it was fixed but alas it wasn't to be as everyone elses emails came back with a 550 error. This worries me as I still don't think they know what they are doing.

According to another person at BT, a new BT account needs to be setup as I am on the newer system which uses BT365 and one email address needs to be created so it allows emails from my domain through their smart host. The annoying thing is 1 email got through this morning and nothing else, this was at 11.45 when I finished talking to them ont he phone and they said they would phon eme when it was fixed. Its back not working now.

Sent an email off this morning, problem is I sent it from my yahoo account so I hope they accept it. It shouldn't matter that my domain name is still with my other ISP should it? I didn't fancy changing this at the same time.

Morning, I changed my ISP this mornign to BT and boy and I regretting it already. Anyone using this product with exchange server? The smarthost they gave me is not working and I am getting 550 error messages when I try and send. After 45 minutes on the phone (they wanted to set up a BTCONNECT.COM email address for me for some reason I got through to the second line support who says my domain is listed on their allow list and it should work and they don't support exchange so bye bye. Incoming is fine, MX is fine but sending is not working.

BT's prices are very good, quite tempted to give it a go.
