Morning, I am looking for a solution to allow some pupils access to Skype in a telephone room (size of a telephone box). Its currently got a phone in and a chair which is hardly used so they wanted the option of adding a Skype kiosk. I thought buying a cheapo android tablet and putting Skype on it with a kiosk app would work but its laggy and useless, then maybe a tv with Skype built in but that's expensive and they are usually bit screens. My third option is something like this TV Cam HD for Skype - Logitech which I like as its all built in and would only need a tv/monitor with HDMI input. Has anyone used one of these or can think of a better solution. It needs to be very locked down and robust which is why I am shying away from a PC. I can make it so it just used Skype but wear and tear (and them being little monkeys) would be an issue.

Boooo and as if by magic its done it and I don't know what I did wrong/right. Looking at the operations log the Windows Azure Active Directory export Export hadn't run since 8.30 even though I thought I was forcing it to which is weird. So my question is, when you right click on the AD connector and do a Full Import Full Sync is doesn't do a upload to the cloud, you have to do a right click Azure then Export.... is this right as its the way its forcing a sync on mine but there's no documentation saying this.

It a new install on a different server, I had ADFS on a different one and it went belly up when I changed password so I reinstalled it fresh. I did a full sync with the right click run now, I will try with the powershell command next. I just added a attribute field now so will see if that works.

Copying it the wrong word sorry, but you are playing catchup. It would be nice to be able to put the uploaded users into groups for easy filtering, only allowing 20 users per page is a pain as it took me ages to delete them yesterday. As for the DIRSYNC, I have doen a full sync and here is a screenie of my filtering. I must be missing something obvious here.

That's exactly how I followed my setup but its still syncing other OU's that I told it not to. If the account is not in the OU anymore that gets synced should it get put in the deleted users bit? The results of the upload are a bit confusing Synchronization Satitics Unchanged 165 (staff I believe) Add 0 Updates 0 Renames 0 Deletes 1844 Its just a bit confusing as I deleted everyone other than staff off the cloud last night and the first sync they have come back… but this is now saying its deleting them. I wonder if it took them out of deleted users and put them back in the main bit as the users are set for deleting after 30 days??

Hi, I have started using the Azure connector with Office 365 which works pretty well (almost there M$... just copy Google a bit more) but for some reason the syncing is doing all the Ou's to the cloud and I really don't want all my controlled assessment accounts up there. I have found an article which I think was for the previous version and changed the settings using the MIISCLIENT.EXE program in management agent > AD Connector > Configure Directory Partitions > Containers and just selected the staff OU to start with but its still syncing all the accounts and I am getting errors sent to m about the sync not working properly for these kids accounts. I went in and disabled the AD connector online and deleted all the kids accounts and tried again but they uploaded the kids accounts again. Is this the correct way to sync certain OU's? I have read somewhere that they want you to sync your whole org but that's a bit useless unless they start allowing us to create nice groups online to sort them out (Google again)

This is not a personal attack just a comment but does anyone else despair at reading his stuff in PC Pro.. every month its so negative about everything M$ PC and super excited about Macs. I know its called PC pro not M$ pro but come on... say something positive for once. I always thought that PC Pro was geared towards the more professional person but its becoming dumbed down every month.... a column on Apps taking over the world ???

DHCP reservation BAD_Address and Mac Address changes. We set a DHCP reservation so I can assign the chromebooks to a range in Smoothwall. I do make sure there are no active leases and it was going on for weeks and my leases are only set for 8 days so there is definitely no conflict. I did find a TechNet article about what's going on but cannot find it now, its a known issue. If I remember its something to do with the IP address and hex. The one at the top is similar I didn't find a fix but ended up using my SW box as a dhcp server on a separate VLAN dishing out IP addresses to a SSID only these connected to.....not had an issues since.

I rebooted the machine and redployed to it on its own and it got the update. Sims will say its my network as is there stock reply. I have more to investigate. One is showing the wrong solus version and when I deploy it its saying that theres not enough storage... only 270Gb free on it.

is it me or does anyone else have issues when the new updates come out deploying the clients? I WOL'd all I could last night but the ones this morning can't be bothered to update. Annoying that the deployment says partially complete too when its supposed to deploy the clients when they come online after a deployment. Got about 20 clients not updating and the stupid simsapplication.exe fix has stopped working because of a permission error.

Maybe its changed since I set it up last year.... can't get into my account now so I am a bit stuck.

My renewal is January so good timing for us. Just wish there was a better way to sync onsite accounts/passwords with the cloud. Google took 5 minutes for us so we used that instead.

Without doubt the stupidest idea I have ever heard. The sooner these tax dodgers get found out the better. I imagine there will be a time when they buy an island an fill it with monkeys to fill the parcels to avoid any sort of taxes. With that in mind I still buy from them as they are cheaper usually.

Looks like a false alarm tbh, she sent me a couple of articles and it was talking about them opening up the API for app development which they can make money on. I can't see them forcing people to use apps but I can see it being a revenue cow for them if the apps are 'essential' for collaborative learning. (so sick of hearing that term)

Morning everyone, I have been tasked to look at backup for my role in school. I am a one man band and love my job but obviously if anything happens to me we are stuffed. I have gone down the line of company support when i have been off for a week at a time but this is prety much money for old rope as they have never been called into to do anything so I am looking at maybe a assistant. (please don't send me CV's, this is way off). What I would like is a apprentice who I can pass on knowledge to and give them an opportunity to go to college. Now the biggest sticking block would be £££. Any Managers gone down this line before? I am unsure if to contact colleges or just advertise. Its a big outlay for us and it would be part time term time probably with a few extra weeks. Undecided which route to take, its a complicated job with lots of stuff I probably do wrong so getting someone in to help would be good.

Oh dear. It appears that MS Security Essentials is a bit pants if your going to go searching out sites like this (well duhhhh). I ran this and Search and Destroy which I used to liek and it found nothing. I installed Vipre and its found 4. I think 2 of them are Android exploits I downloaded for my old phone which itspicking up as false positives but one is the Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT Trojan. This calls for a wipe me thinks but its my own fault for doing somethign I should have known better about.

Hi, Our main DT teacher left last year and with him he took his Pro/Desktop teacher license. I have been going round in circles on the tinterweb trying to find who to speak to regarding getting our teacher accredited (or checking if he already is) Has anyone already been through this process before I start phoning random companies? Just need a contact and some info.

Evening all, I was browsing the interweb last night, looking for a release date for a film on sky movies and came across a website with movies on it. Usually I just get the hell out of there asap as I know they are full of nasties but for some reason I clicked in and it had what it said on the site but a warning flashed up on my screen really quickly with a virus warning and went away. I had done several scans with my av and some commercial spyware stuff but found only tracking cookies but I am still a bit nervous. Obviously I cannot post the movie website name and search engines don't come up with any results for the site saying its full of stuff.... only think I can see it does is annoy you with popups. I am going to wipe my machine tomorrow but anyone come across stuff like this before with nasties that good av's don't pick up and get stung?
