Does anybody know if you can have different levels of access? for example: Staff----allows the changing of student passwords only (staff accounts are invisible) (currently in place) 1st Line IT Support---- allow the changing of any user passwords (staff/student) (they can only change student passwords because staff accounts are in the invisible group)

Hi all, We use veeam here and are very happy with it. It's been flawless for us but our hardware is now of age and needs changing. Our backup hardware is as follows; 1)Dell server (10 years old) running veeam 2)External Tape drive & tapes (10 years old connected the above server via mini sas) 3)External SAN (10 years old connected to above server via mini sas) 4)NAS (Qnap) in a different building that has copy jobs from the SAN. I'd like to consolidate 1-3 into one device, like some sort of veeam back-up appliance. anybody do this? what servers are you using? Can you get internal tape drives on servers now

Yeah we have a Sophos XG with email protection. We are also a Google school. The XG also requires all mail to pass through it. We only have one device so no HA. We'd need two i guess given the number of firmware updates it receives.

We have the same setup here..... [email protected] & [email protected] She logins into google using [email protected] and can send and receive emails using both emails. We do it like this. Create a gmail as you normally would and give that to the head. Create a google group (email distribution- [email protected]) and add the head to that group (the head can now receive emails sent to that email. You can use GAM for the next step i think, however we just perform the next step on the users account once they have logged in. Gmail - settings - send email as...... enter Google group ([email protected]) send verify email. They should receive an email to their [email protected] account. once verified, when they click on "compose" they now have the option to "send as" either emails. you might also want to change the setting in gmail to allows respond as the account the received the email. under accounts or inbox i think. Sorry for the very poorly formatted response.

Thanks for that. At the risk going off topic here. I suspect we've had these permissions messed with historically. Where is the default settings that defines that "standard" users can't delete non custom files from the C:\ ? I thought it might be in the "default domain policy" GPO. Or is this permission hard coded into the domain user group? Sorry. This is a little bit of a grey area for me. I inherited this domain, so i'm not sure what's vanilla or been poked with a dirty stick. thanks again

well thats the thing, i was able to delete a "drivers" folder we have in the route of C:\

I'm not i'm afraid, I wanted to go ahead with it, but can see access and delete from the C: under to "media" tab on the bottom

You can use Dell open manager server admin to configure raid etc I've used it on our r710s EDIT: You'll need to install this. Dells website and the service tag will be needed

The raid controller might even reject a non enterprise drive. I've had that with a NAS server

Just had an email from AB Tutor to visit them at their BET Stand at the end of March. Unfortunately we're not going to be able to attend. But they have mentioned new features; - All new Web-console - Real time monitoring - Instant messaging - Web filtering & logging - Block & allow list - ChromeOS support We've needed this for a while and almost jumped ship to another solution, with things like this a price model change is expected. Anybody got any inside info or know anything about it? Cheers

Ok, maybe i'm overthinking this but here goes. Our current switches have a internal non replaceable power supply. Ye olde "kettle lead". I've been looking at others that have two replaceable and hot swappable PSUs. 2 x Ye olde "kettle lead". easy stuff..... Another option has 2 power supplies, one AC and one DC. one of which is a Ye olde "kettle lead" and i've not got a clue what the other is....... (pic below). I assumed it would just be some sort of power distribution board i'd need to use these........ however i can't find any info on them, probably because i dont know what the plug is called. Anybody had any experience with this setup? Cheers

Hi all, Just anted to know if anybody could help, The staff here us wisDATAman for changing student passwords https://wisedataman.com/password-control There's a security group that has delegated access to allows Muggles to change student passwords. This currently all work fine and as intended, however i just wanted to check a couple of things from a security perspective. I expected the delegate permissions to be on the 'Staff' OU in AD. however i can't find any evidence of this and i'm really struggling to find where this delegated access is attached.... not sure which OU. i've had a good look. Maybe i'm looking for the wrong thing. I thought i'd see the 'password control security group' under AD OU--- Properties---security----advanced. But no joy. Any ideas?
