we just rolled out about 60 of the things and so far they are great with no issues. They only trick I ever found was to ensure they update correctly after you register them. I sign in immediately after they are attached to the enterprise account and check on the update progress. Once the update hits they are 100% reliable in our case. Be sure you have not capped the update level in the enterprise console. Also check the time is right on them. If over a minute out, you get issues.

Veeam is such a great piece of software I weep for those still dicking about with tapes. I am on 6.5 but only saw 7 was out at the end of the holidays and thought if something went wrong I would loose all last terms things so am aiming at half term. The only thing I would ever change would be the way it highlights "restore entire VM" by default.

The main disadvantage is you would be using a mac (I assume that's what OP was after) Seriously though its fairly fast and stable. Mountain Lion feels a more finished product but Lion is just fine and dandy.

not at the moment as controlling / updating apps is pretty much non existent as far as we can see. 8.1 apparently allows you to update them. Its almost like they are going out of their way to make it hard tbh.

GADS is a pleasure to setup really. just don't do what I did and forget to save the carefully created profile. Personally I don't see why you would want to separate the domains up but I have been drinking a little and maybe missing something.

I tried that once but couldn't get the times to change. as we start at 8:45 I couldn't figure out how to add a resource with the same time booking and didn't trust staff to set it manually.

anyone got theirs yet? They took 3 weeks to tell me as we didn't have a VAT number and to resubmit the order even though as academy we don't have one so here we are at the beginning again. Im quite the Microsoft fanboy most the time but it takes them 3-4 weeks to tell me they cant take the order!

not sure what some of the people on here are smoking but Apple TV is not "clunky". I have one at home and is an amazing piece of kit. Your no doubt want to play with VLANs when setting it up but the thing just works so well. Im traditionally not an apple fan but cant deny the thing is amazing for £100 so assume schools could get it for about £75-80 per room.

I had this a couple of times. I had to get the people who do our support to remote in and remove the entry from the SQL. From now on I only install 5 manually at a time.

this is all hypothetical of course. Should this happen then a temp replacement laptop will be issues but unfortunately cant guarantee it will be brand new. Thanks for responses people. Funny thing is i quite like the person but anyone who decides to mess with my summer plans is in for a shock. btw its not an obligation to provide laptops. We just do because it helps the teaching but can call them in at any time.

im hoping to break it mid next week but may set the AV from stun to kill to build it up. Problem with doing it on last day is they just take it anyway. I would be happy they wouldn't be able to use it but they would still have it.

Morning, I have a member of staff with a Windows 7 x64 laptop who is due to leave in a weeks time. Now it looks like they are not best pleased at going and has started playing the "my contract runs to the end of August so I am keeping my laptop until then" but its the norm to return it at the end of term and they have got my back up with their attitude and as your all aware, network managers are silly people to upset so my question is this... How do I cause her laptop to fail while making it look like an accident? I used to be great at this in XP. The odd file removed from system32 would cause all sorts of havoc upon reboot but wonder if any of you know what to tweak to cause a failure to reboot while only removing files remotely on Windows 7? I could disable the account but that's going to be blindingly obvious. A nice black screen upon reboot will do the trick nicely. When they ask for a repair they can have a nice loan machine of my choosing while I work hard to "fix their laptop" although I have a feeling its going to take more than a week to fix. Thanks all

Hello, Are any of you involved in creating a map of your school? We used to have a DT teacher do it who then retired. The job passed to us somehow and my predecessor made an ok effort in Visio but its becoming a pain to maintain every year and all we get is criticism. I would have thought it would only be a few hundred pounds to have a company create a nice and easy to read version and maybe a flashy interactive map for our website so does anyone have experience of any companies and/or links to examples? Thank you

another vote for room booking system over here. Amazing piece of software and even lets you use LDAP so your staff don't complain of "another password to remember".
