  1. I setup our Zabbix monitoring on our servers to notify if the SSM service stops working since its likely faster than waiting for an e-mail about a sync failure.
  2. There was a bit in the July notes for SIMS that come summer update new documents that would normally go into the local document server will start going to the Next Gen one instead of local server, so it might be that is the root cause.
  3. Well it's Parent Pay Group so not a suprise
  4. In the retention tags section, create the tags that you want, such as Default Mailbox Item Delete 2 years, and set retention period to be 730 days. Once you've created the tags, go into the Retention Policies and create yourself a new Policy and add the tags you want it to have. For example, my Extended Retention Policy has the following tag assigned Archive E-mail 730 Days (Moves e-mails over 2 years to online Archive) Archive Removal Policy (Deletes any e-mails over 3 years) Deleted Items Removal (Deletes items in the "Deleted" folder over 30 days) Junk E-Mail (Deletes items in the Junk/Spam folder over 7 days) Sync Issues Removals (Deletes items from the Sync Issues folder over 30 day) Then in Exchange, go to the person you want to have the different mailbox retention policy and pick your new one you just created. If you wanted everyone to get the new restrictions, then you add the retention tags you want to the "Default MRM Policy" and remove any you don't want (which are often the self assigned ones)
  5. Will be interesting to see how long it takes support to reply to the tickets.
  6. Always nice when something like this happens... Guessing their activation server has had an issue
  7. Nope I set it up back when we just had A1 Plus licences. At the time the tags were under Exchange, but they moved it to be within Purview https://purview.microsoft.com/datalifecyclemanagement/exchange/retentiontags
  8. Yep we do this using the legacy tags still in Purview Normal Staff and students all get 1 year retention, and we created an extended retention for up to 3 years for certain users (just assign that retention policy in Exchange to them)
  9. Do believe it's still recommended to leave SQL in 2012 compatibility mode
  10. We use Enviro Electronics and have a large wheelie bin at each school site (Similar to the large waste bins) and we just drop in any electronic device and when it's full we arrange for a collection. Thankfully it's a free service, and most of the time we get a collection arranged at least twice a year.
  11. Come on, don't go being logical that we have some users that we only want them to have access to minimal data. To be honest, I wouldn't expect Bromcom and Arbor to have such granular control over access to features like SIMS.Net has due to the difference in requirement over website and client. Think we need to start switching our mindset for SIMS Next Gen to be exactly what it is, a new product and not really a incremental update from SIMS.Net, and as such things like permissions need to be reviewed as if you moved to a new MIS completely.
  12. I'd guess they are matching based on the backend guid for the default groups rather than the granular permissions we all likely setup since a class teacher might not have needed access to everything that capita originally thought they would 15 yrs ago.
  13. Your support provider should have a spreadsheet of the SIMS 7 (.Net) groups and what can access what in Next gen. I just downloaded a copy from SchoolICTS this morning to confirm with a colleague what group they needed to see timetables, and we got caught out when we initially looked to move to Next Gen back in May 25. Also like everything Next Gen related, always wise to give it overnight for settings to take effect since who knows when some of the data syncs happen
  14. The timetable redirect is still within Stage 2 so you can put it off for the rest of term at least
  15. Ah I see what you mean. Yes if your just printing a single user via the profile route it doesn't put the tutor group, but if your printing out the whole year/tutor group for start of year you would be going via the bulk method. Minor oversight from SIMS to have 2 different layouts for the same thing, but on ours it does have the tutor group in the Registration slot
  16. Just went to Print timetables in SIMS Next Gen and picked a current tutor group, and the default template puts the student name | Tutorgroup at the top, along with which year and week the timetable is for below it. Only think I dislike is it's putting the member of staff's name in the header, but I've fixed that by duplicating the existing "Pupil Timetable" template and unticking the Header and footer option. It is a shame you can't alter the text at the top of the page though still.
  17. Try adding the offending file that Impero warning message brings up to the injection exclusion list on your server. We had to do this for Excel last summer cause the ai.exe was complaining whenever Excel was launched on certain devices... since then it's been peaceful
  18. That has been claimed on updates at times since version 6 =/
  19. I've set my site to not take effect until the end of term, but we'd already sent Next Gen login details out to staff last May, and redid it again. If it wasn't for the fact that Linked Documents don't work, I'd have enabled the student profile redirection. PPG don't really think about timing and users, case in point the FMS nightmare people are having in other threads
  20. If you have the Admin access for your SIMS Next Gen, go to the Admin Console, and at the bottom is the SIMS 7 Redirect link. You can set Timetables, Conduct and Registers to take effect at the end of term instead of right now. It won't take effect straight away, but will for tomorrow. There was a post about this yesterday here hence we know where to change the setting (and just had to do this for one of our schools where it was redirected overnight and causing a nightmare as wasn't publicised well)
  21. We use Teams Shifts across the team to show which sites members are going to be at and when, and for holiday works we put together a spreadsheet of all the sites and work planned, then we update Shifts to say where we'll be (if we've not done a runner for time off ourselves). If we have work to do at a Primary school, normally the boss arranges to be there since he's got the keys/alarms, but for the secondaries the site team is normally in so access isn't a problem. If we've got external contractors scheduled, we drop that on the Shift notes and either the tech for that site will be there as normal, or someone else will head over
  22. That might explain it then. Thanks for the heads up @willtech. I've now set our attendance to not force over until the end of term as staff have already had the fun of moving from Class Charts back to SIMS for registers so easier to have all the new features take effect as of Sept.
  23. We are using SIMS Next Gen, but clicking the Timetable link on the student record in SIMS.Net brings up the normal view we've always had. Only way it takes us to the Next Gen page is if we select an option from the SIMS Next Gen dropdown menu at the top, or clicking the "View in Next Gen" button.
  24. Errm ParentPay purchased ESS 5 years ago hence all the forum buzz about the terrible "SIMS Connect" they've tried to get people to move to, and the nightmare with the contract renewal lengths etc. There have been posts recently from people who moved to the new FMS only to have to be moved back as it didn't work. It's strong arm issues that are causing a lot of IT staff to pray their Finance team want to move away from FMS to alternative products (Thankfully we moved to Sage 9 years ago)
  25. As it's part of Protect, likely be able to use the Vape Alert to trigger a recording event of your local cameras as well as send a notification e-mail
