There'd be no way I'd install any monitoring software on a personal PC I' potentially use for banking etc. And the idea of a company using key logging software is out of the question. We got asked to monitor Securus reports in my first IT support role but my IT manager refused and rightly so, that should not be a job for IT support INMO.

300MB does not seem a lot to me TBH. How long does it take for a person to go from the logon screen to been able to work in Windows? Are they doing appdata redirection? Check what is getting redirected, I'd exclude things like iTunes for example because I've seen that suck up a lots of space in certain scenarios. You could check in the event viewer of effected PCs for any network delays, timeouts etc. Test the laptop with a wired connection with as well as wireless with some other clients connected in the immediate area. It is worth bringing this to the attention of the 3rd part if the logon time is excessive.

The minimum specs are quite high, you are going to need some beefy laptops by the looks of it. I think it is important to set some ground rules such as fair use policy for the laptops, the staff also need to be made responsible for them and sign for them, etc. I don't think that is unreasonable.

I actually thought it did work in the start menu but it was a few years ago, possibly still under XP (where has that time gone), lol.

Wasn't there a way to disable right click in File Explorer/start menu, or was that for something else??

I've seen Support/Solution companies that have got better pricing than others from equipment manufacturers.

New to Intune. I've tried 2 policies. One is to set home page in Edge and IE the other is to set a printer. Neither are working. When I click on the device then Device configuration, in state it says Not applicable. Pretty new to this after 15 years of Group Policies on 2003, 2008, 2012 AD servers.

I'm still not going out unless I need to, that is my understanding of 'stay at home as much as possible'. I go out once a fortnight now to give my car a run otherwise it complains the battery getting low (I had key worker status), apart from that it is the food shopping, a run every couple of days. I did go to B&Q the other day though, it was quieter in there than the queue outside suggested due to the social distancing etc.

I've had various 10Gtek SFPs and DAC cables running at home for almost 2 years, no problems.

To sync users to Office 365 you just need to install Azure AD Sync on a server, I highly suggest installing on a member server not a Active Directory controller. I believe you can just sync OUs, it's been a long time since I used it as no longer have that role. The only other thing you may need to do is change the UPN of the users (99% should not cause any issue but test) and make sure that the O365 address is the main SMTP address of the users. I'm still bit uncertain into the whole cloud bit, how it works with managed devices. After 15+ years of GPO's it is a bit of a new concept to me, lol, but it is certainly something to consider. Anyone got any decent info on that note???

I wouldn't suggest logging in as another actual user, ask them to show you the problem, take a picture, you could check the event logs, etc. There is no need to have different passwords, Azure AD Connect (used to be DirSync) solves that and is fairly easy to implement. Microsoft have a dedicated team to help, or at least used to.

I've been using 3cx at home for at least 3 years, no problems at all. I am having some issues getting it working from devices from Internet such as my own phone, maybe firewall related, I have no support contract as it is free version. It recognises some SIP trunk providers out of the box but it is not difficult to create a trunk manually, I've had to do that. You will also have to check what phone templates. Whilst there are custom templates on there from what I have seen it is way easier if you have a supported phone. I have it set up now so I just have to add a phone, make sure the phone is tagged on voice network on the network switch, plug in the phone and it downloads the config. I would suggest a getting a trial and then you can test internally or even get a SIP trunk and test externally to internally. There are free/opensource VOIP versions out their with communities and sometimes paid for support.

See if the SIP providers will give you any help/advice or ask them to show how they have determined it is on your side.

How big are the image files, at a previous employment people were printing documents with imported images from cameras without compressing causing the MFDs frequently lock up. There is a location to check on the print server for large files, cannot remember off my head where it is though, might be some kind of spooler folder?? Real PITA especially as they always done it near exam time. Might be worth a check especially if it is an intermitent.

It gives you all that information if you are in the whole ECO system for which it is very, very good at. But say you do not have the whole eco system, you may have HP switches, Cisco router then it is not so good. You are still tied down to using one software platform to do any form of management.

I might just as well say show me a third party software that can manage Unifi. I know one exists that can manage third party vendors, admittedly not all but it does exist.

If I am saying that you cannot manage said manufacturer kit with anything other than said manufacturer software i do not think it is pointless at all. There may be a scenario where multiple vendors kit is used and it is useful to manage with one piece of software just as it use useful to see all of Unifi kit in one management interface, what is wrong with that.

But you have to use the controller to manage Unifi Kit whether that is Unifi Video/Protect/AccessPoints/USG/Switches. There are solutions out there that you can use to manage other manufacturers equipment if you want to. You can use the software built into the switch i.e. HP ProVision, Aruba ProVision/Comware or Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOS but that is common with a lot of switches but there are products to allow you to manage different manufacturers kit, can you do that with Unifi??? I'm not saying by any means that Unifi is bad kit, it will suit a lot of organisations but not all. I implemented Ruckus at a previous employment about 9 years back and given the choice now for the 25 APs we needed, Unifi would of probably gone in. Where I work now we use Aruba but we have 2400 APs with multiple controllers with redundancy.
