I used to sing the praises of TP Link Kasa, but the KP115 has not lived up to expectations as 3 of them have failed now out of about 12 bought. The electronics fail in them, even the switch on the side does not work and the LED is off even though the plug is still suppling power to the connected device. So looks like I'm going to be looking at Zigbee or Hive, preferably ZigBee so I'm not forced to use a 3rd party cloud app. It is not like I'm putting too much power through the KP115 either, like 200 watt max.

The W73P came and I've been so impressed I've got another one for home so I now have 3 phones connected to the one Base station and then that base station connected to on-premise 3cx, even tested it with hosted 3cx solution and that works as long as you run a 3cx SBC on your network but the SBC was pretty painless to setup.

I'm thinking of EE FTTP. It's about half the price I'm paying my ISP but I have got 5 IPv4 and a IPv6 /56 addresses with my current ISP but TBH one static IPv4 will be OK. Dynamic DNS/IP solution won't work for me at the moment :-( . Anyone gone with EE FTTP residential services, can you use your own router/firewall any chance of a static IPv4?? Run my own PBX so phone wise I'm sorted, eventually will go mobile and use something like WhatsApp only I'm sure :-)

I'm not connected but thought it might be worth sharing. Regarding vlan hopping there are a number of other videos explaining that i.e. you don't want to have any client traffic untagged (or whatever terminology your switch uses) on links between switches, only provide the vlans you actually need on ports to clients, etc

Ah if saying now the disk is failed, that won't work. But if it is still working just that it is clicking you might have a chance.

Back in the day we used to use Ghost or similar to clone disks. Can you do that, jus make sure you identify the source and destination disks :-).

I've been running with SipGate for years but my chosen PBX (I've been using for 6 years) does not support it anymore on the free version and is pretty limited unless you get a license which for the cost of one I'm happy to do but you can only do that via a partner which is also difficult to get as a non-business user

As in the PoE loses it's power on half the switch or the modules lose power on half the switch where the PSU is?

Doesn't Veeam have a free offering I know it is limited but have you looked :-)

AD relies on DNS heavily otherwise you might get strange issues. Best use forwarders on your AD DNS to the routers then nearer the time to change shorten the dhcp lease and swap over the DNS for the clients then. Alternatively you could add the AD DNS as the DNS server the router resolves against then point AD DNS to external but it will get messy if not careful.

Had one at home too (the Xeon) good little servers I only sold cause I upgraded it to the hilt and still needed more ram back in the days when I used to run full AD, Veeam, MDT/WDS, etc. etc. at home for fun, lol. I still have my original N36L too which still works albeit with a replacement GPU and the looks of something that has rolled down a mountain too many times.

I done something stupid. Wondered why my home 3cx had no audio outbound. Teams was hogging my audio device preventing 3cx from accessing it for the microphone. But yep I have seen SIP ALG issue not only on Cisco.

Disable SIP ALG on the firewall?? Ah I see you have already done that, lol.

I have a W56H on BT. Jus ordered a W73P second hand off ebay. The BT service has not worked for me for months but I jus can't be bothered to call them up, it is free for me with jus calls but the calls costing. I regularly make abroad calls and it is like less than a tenth the cost using my own setup. For those of my family on WhatsApp it is even cheaper :-)

You should not experience any issues unless you power cycle the devices rapidly. If the switches are Aruba OS or HP ProCurve there is no option to shut them down gracefully. You could remove the power to prevent any issues caused by unstable power but that is all. As @DalekSec mentions jus make sure the config is saved on the switch and you should employ some method to back them up automatically or manually back them up after changes by a putty CLI session or the GUI.

I believe it is the protocol that can utilize the multiple paths, SMBv3 for instance?? But no adding teaming, link aggregation etc mostly is jus like having more lanes on a motorway, everyone is still doing 70MPH but more people can do it at once.

Jim is good along with a few others that attempt to stop the fraud going on and even get peoples money back. But it is sad how some of these scammers act and con the most needy and vulnerable out of thousands.

Create reservations that don't have a valid IP for the subnet?? Would that work or invalid gateway/DNS. Ideally you want to move away from shared passwords anyway.

CCTV, WiFi, BOYD, Servers, and management, BMS, ARX defo have on their own. Security and the noise that might interfere with other devices. But vlans in themselves don't always provide security as if the gateways are on the same core switch they are normally able to talk to each other by default so you might want to think about ACLs.

Can you ping from the servers gateway i.e. if the servers vlan is terminated on the firewall you might need to specify the source address of the ping, our firewall you do cause otherwise it attempts to ping out of the management. Ping one you know that works jus to verify the command or process. Use the IP address at first because the firewall/router/core might not be able to resolve DNS

Have you thought about using Fibre if it is jus a short run depending on the device that is connecting to it? Might work out cheaper i.e. Fibre patch lead and SFP+s

Got a Prolite T2252MSC at home for my CNC router, 22", pretty happy with it.
