  1. Cheers Steve that looks just like the thing i'm after.
  2. Thanks for the responses guys. I currently do a similar thing replacing machines in the classrooms. Great minds Does anyone have an example document they produced? Cheers
  3. Hi Guys, I have been asked by our bursar to produce a plan of ICT replacements for the next 3 years. Likely expenditure etc. Has anyone done anything similar? Anyone have a copy of something i can look at to get a rough idea at what would need to be included in something like this? I know some of our computers will need replacing and likely projectors, amps etc. But how do you write something like this up? Thanks in advance
  4. Hi we'll be using exchange 2010. We are using live@edu for student emails for their ICT work. This would be for staff emails. Cheers for te info guys.
  5. Hi i would be very interested in this. Sounds awesome using your iPhone to update it whilst in the room instead of having a million scraps of paper.
  6. Hi Guys, One question and a couple of opinions really. Firstly stumbled across this and was wondering if anything similar can be set up in the UK Around the Corner-MGuhlin.org: Sending Bulk SMS (Txt Messages) at No Cost They are able to send text messages via a mail server (MS Exchange) for free. But looks to me like it is an american network thing only with the email address awarded for telephones. Has anyone set up something similar over here? If so how and using what? Also we are looking at installing ms exchange server for around 170 email accounts. Probably only about 10% of them used heavily. Would exchange run ok on an old server with the following spec? HP Proliant ML370 G4 3.5GB RAM Intel Xeon CPU 3.4GHz (2 CPU) I know it's not great but the school is reluctant to purchase new hardware without testing the system first for ease of use and functionality etc. Cheers
  7. Our students seem to treat the cd trays on the desktops as piggy banks putting coins in them then opening it and its disappeared!! They think it's magic. I see it as investment for a new virtual network. I'm making quite a profit
  8. That report worked Seems to be the way you filter the students. Cheers again
  9. When i use a report like the one you have posted the total points column is blank :S ANy ideas? Cheers
  10. Is it possible to have some sort of formula that would carry out an operation like: IF CELL IS DIFFERENT TO CELL ABOVE INSERT 3 ROWS Thanks
  11. Hi I have a large table of data like the dummy data below that i am trying to reorganise by using a formula or macro (which ever is best). The data consists of students and registration groups etc. I want to split the data into registration groups to ultimately be able to print the data with one registration group per page. Any suggestions how i would achieve this? Thanks in advance.
  12. I have registered for support net but it takes 24-48 hours to become active so will try those reports Monday hopefully! Cheers
  13. I'm fairly new to sims so sims discover is a whole new world. I'll have a look though. Thanks Also managed to get the output i needed. Was using the wrong points option when creating the report. Still need to use some functions in excel to delete duplicates but getting there. Cheers
  14. How can i get it to total the house points awarded this academic year. I have got the year filter but can't see how i get it to total house points instead of showing individual points awarded? Cheers
  15. Hi Did you get this fixed? I think we have a similar issue. Thanks
  16. No sorry i got it wrong. It was counting up the instances instead of the values in the cells e.g. there were 5 rows for a student but one of the rows had 2 house points so the value should be 6 and not 5 :S
  17. Hi i have solved it. I used your method of not suppressing duplicates. Then using the advanced filter feature hid some columns and removed duplicates based on the fields left. Thanks for your help VikPaw!
  18. Thanks for the response. How would i get it so it displays each students name and the total house points next to them so Joe Bloggs 2 Jane Doe 6 (This name on a new row etc) THanks
  19. Think the names are repeated the same number of times as the total number of house points they have received since we started awarding them 2 years ago if that helps. cheers
  20. Hi We record house points (Behaviour Points) through SIMS and i need to run a report to give me a total number of house points for students awarded between 5th September 2011 and 31st July 2012. Each time i run a report i get an output like this below. Is there anyway to remove the duplicate names so i have one row per name with the total house points this year? The 2 is the correct number of house points for this academic year. Need this one urgently as we need to update staff and students on Monday. Thanks guys.
  21. Hi guys I am looking at starting a toner/ink recycling scheme at my school. I have had a look on these threads but they all seem to be a couple of years old so was wondering who you use? Does anyone take away and recycle compatible toners and epson ink cartridges? Who do you use to recycle genuine toners? Do you involved kids bringing in used inks from home? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at Recycling for Schools | Recycling for Schools in association with The recycling factory who look good for the £1 per toner or ink but their list of accepted ones doesn't seem that big. I think we may have to register with a couple of companies one for the genuine toners and one for compatibles. Thanks
  22. Ouch. Fair enough. Was that personal files or schools?
  23. Hi All I know there are a few threads on toner recycling but they all seem fairly old. I am looking for a company to collect and recycle old toners (genuine and compatible) and ink cartridges. Does any company collect and pay for both? I can only find companies that will pay for genuine and not compatible. Thanks
  24. Hi I have seen pcworld do an online backup service (knowhow), you get 1tb for £25 a year. What checks would you do to see if it was ok to use for having an offsite backup of students and teachers work? It is 256 encrypted. It mounts an extra drive (L) on your computer / server. I was thinking of running a backup file to it and then using the service to backup the files. I know it would probably take a while to do but maybe worth a shot for £25. We are currently paying £70 a month for 150gb upload. Any advice or experience is welcomed cheers KNOWHOW Cloud Backup & Share Service - 1 Year at cheap prices | PC World
  25. Legend looks like it's working Cheers Bossman.
