  1. One thing I would like to add to all of that is the experience to go with it. Having all of those without the experience won't do you any good... -Ken
  2. Just letting you know about how/where to take the exams: ITIL v3 foundation (either via EXIN or ISEB) - you can sit these at either PearsonVue or Prometric testing centres. FITS - only via SQA own online testing software (this is still proctered). MOF (only via EXIN) - at only Prometric testing centres. -Ken
  3. Got it, just prepping the server now -ken
  4. E-mail sent You deserve it -Ken
  5. We went for this one. It was alot cheaper - however securus is a hardware appliance, whereas the one I went for is a software solution so that could be why. The software came last week, and I've been off this week, so I can't tell you about setting it up as it's still in the box -ken
  6. See here. We didn't go for securus, we went for one of their competitors, mainly due to price. -Ken
  7. Will be using SQL 2008 Sweet -ken
  8. Hi Mate, How about those of us who are existing customers, but will be installing from fresh? eg no DB conversion. -Ken
  9. We have a Schools agreement, with SA (and home rights via it). -Ken
  10. Spiceworks isn't ITIL/FITS compatible, at least yet. -Ken
  11. Even if we only bought the software in Nov? I don't want to buy, if I'm covered for support/upgrades for 12 months. Did go for the "Pro Upgrades and Support", but it needs a couple code. -Ken
  12. Hope your two year old is ok now Just waiting for mine to get it now Is the Pro version available today? As the Enterprise one is still waiting for the patents to come thru (and it's just to key to upgrade), plus we don't need to upgrade (we'll be installing from fresh). -Ken
  13. We've (as in the school) has gone down the route of Moodle from WebAnywhere. It has the parent part for reporting, it doesn't have the write back for staff to Sims yet, but it's earmarked for something this year. Is it better than a Sharepoint system? I can't say. Like the LP+ system, I don't technically support the system (even though it's hosted on site) - the actual company supports it. Is it cheaper? Yes, at least for us. If you want to see it, let us know -ken
  14. You may also want to put the speed of the processor as that will affect the pricing -Ken
  15. You've already mentioned that your LEA's broadband is experiencing intermittent problems. I would recommend waiting and get the LEA to solve/resolve the broadband issues, before trying to find problems that may or may not exist. -Ken
  16. I haven't sat the live (70- or 72- prefix) exam, but I did sit the beta of this exam. What I can say is that it is harder then the Vista client exam and that it does cover alot of the new technology that was brought out with Win7. -Ken
  17. A couple of colleges/training providers that do apprenticeships/NVQ: 1. Cambridge Regional College 2. Tresham College (just started this calendar year) 3. Zenos Just in case -Ken
  18. Agreed.. However this then leads on to IT staff having, at least, basic IT Security knowledge/training. -Ken
  19. I've e-mailed yesterday, but got no reply. I'm already getting quotes in for DNA Helpdesk and Richmond. -Ken
  20. Any chance of sending *some* our way -Ken
  21. Ever thought about seeing if there's funding in your area for the NVQ program or even a full apprenticeship? In some area/colleges they have limited funded places for over 18's. Got an e-mail thru from our local college to say that they have limited funded places. You may be able to jump straight to level 3 (bypassing level 2). You never know. Alternatively there's always the HNC/HND/degree route part-time in the evenings (for 2 to 5 years at 2 evenings a week). And/or there's FITS level 4 & 5 -Ken
  22. I agree, it doesn't matter if the person is male or female, both can do the job equally great (or equally not-so-good - depending on the person). I do have to say that the last 3 times we advertised, I believe in the 60+ applications we received (for the 3 jobs over the last 5 1/2 years) we only had 1 or 2 females apply -ken
  23. Yes and No, the apprenticeship program incorporates the NVQ program. They will be taught 1 day a week at college, but the rest would have to be done thru work (via on the job learning/job shadowing, giving them a book/cbt to learn, hands-on practice, etc). Evidence is then taken thru a variety of means like witness statements, personal statements and observations, etc... The NVQ itself is made up of X amount of mandatory unit (they have to do it) and X amount of optional units (they still have to do it, but they have a choice of what they want to do). -Ken
  24. Any news, as it's the 8th today? -Ken
  25. Drobo Elite, it's about £2000-£2200 (plus it's VMware ready and can be used with Hyper-V), then buy a few 1 or 2 TB disks to populate it (approx £100-£150 each) and there you go. There's also the IBM System Storage DS3300, again around the £2000 mark. In the new FISCAL, we'll be buying the Drobo Elite to run a couple of servers on. The main bulk of our servers are running virtually on/in the Intel Modular server in the built in SAN and external Promise Storage array. -Ken
