  1. Happy New year to all... May this year be full of CPD with very little incidents and problems...
  2. You'll never get CSE by doing that once a month For us our patch management system keeps the logs of what has been installed and updated. If something goes wrong, we can remove the update if the server/machine is online. If not online but on, we can manually remove. If it doesn't come back up, then it's restore from backups.
  3. Apart from plug & play (from the 9x series and higher of OSes) and shadow Copy which was introduced with 2003, NT4 was an awesome OS
  4. EC-Council also has the following C|CT program, where the course is free, however you have to pay for the exam ($199). However why do you consider the level 4 and or degree apprenticeships? These, depending on the program you choose, can include the likes of the CCNA, EC-Council CEH, C&G's certifications, etc...
  5. Ouch, what car do you have?
  6. Just asked Google Gemini... This was it's answer... The car does look sweet though...
  7. I started to try to get fitter earlier in the year... So my exercise regime includes (every other day) 180 pushups (in sets of 60) 100 hand grip exerciser (in sets of 25) 100 spring chest expander compressions (in sets of 25) 100 sit ups 45 barbell curls (using weights of 22kg) then physio exercises of 40 one legged squats (each leg) from sitting on chair 40 leg extensions (each leg) with resistance bands 40 one legged standing calf raises That is combined with karate training twice weekly. And I still feel unfit as ever
  8. We're currently going for our 3rd accreditation for CSE (we've had our latest application returned for further clarification), unfortunately because of the Christmas break and workloads, there's a lapse between our last one and this one (by a couple of weeks). So yes, there are a few schools/academies/trusts that have gone/got CSE, a smaller amount that have gained the CS+. The free tools are a great way to get started. And the program as a whole is also a good way to justify the purchase of new equipments, projects, etc. Other useful tools/information include: DfE Standards Cyber Secure Check for Schools
  9. Happy New Year 2024 to Everyone
  10. I would also say keep an eye on INCO Academy. As if you (or your techs) complete their Eco course (it's basic), you get a years free subscription to Linkedin Learning
  11. Have you checked out the following forum: /forums/courses-training/ Lots of us have pasted alot of free, discounted, and paid for courses, exams, and qualifications. Everything from level 2 courses to level 7 (Masters level), as well as professional certifications and training from Microsoft, Cisco, ICS2, and EC-Council.
  12. The EC-Council, more well known for the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification, is offering their instruction; e-course, practical hands-on labs, critical thinking challenges, and live Cyber Range activities for free. Provided you agree to pay for the final exam - which is $199 (Approx £163). See here. Personally I do not have any experience with this training or this certification. I did their CEH training very good, and their CEH hard (I failed by approx 2 questions, but this training did help me pass the Cisco Cyber Ops Associate exam).
  13. The only thing I can think of at the moment is a windows update that is causing the issue or a issue with a 3rd party print product (eg Papercut). Is the server fully up to date? Or when was the last time you did updates compared to when the problem started happening?
  14. Haven't cut back at the moment, however I have increased my workload on my second job...
  15. You may also be interested in the EC-Council CCT program, while the training is free, the candidate has to pay $199 for the exam and proctoring (I haven't done this one yet, as I'm preparing for the CISCO CyberOps exam).
  16. Yeah, I did the training and the exam, although it was the beta exam as I had to wait 2 months for the results... IMO, the training that ISC2 provided didn't cover everything that they test for in the exam. Like Comptia exams, the CC exam is multiple choice (and poss some drag and drop, but can't really remember). IMO, it is harder than the Comptia exam, but not as hard as the CEH (I failed that my 1 question - 2 points). I would say that it is a decent exam, however while the training and exam is free, the candidate doesn't get the CC certification/credential until they pay the annual $50 fee, plus they have to complete 45 hours of CPE over 3 years.
  17. Accenture announced (this month) the launch of its Cyber Million program in partnership with Immersive Labs, a cybersecurity company. The upskilling platform developed by Immersive Labs includes online courses and exercises that train participants for jobs recognized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE) that include cyber defense analysis roles. You can sign up here as a candidate. If you already have an account, you may have to create a new one (I couldn't find how to add additional programs on my old account). Once you sign up you get access to these two career training pathways: You get the full Cyber Fundamentals program and about 50% (approx) of the Defensive Security Operations program.

  18. Have you received official notification? If, yes, are you able to share that please? In Wales (I assume that you're there), does your school share the same network as your Council/LA?
  19. Free on Gog... Warhammer Skulls
  20. Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition is free on the EPIC store at the moment (until the 1st of June 2023) https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/fallout-new-vegas--ultimate-edition
  21. Sounds interesting and this is something that I would have considered. However I'm not a GDPR expert (by any means), but here, is it me that they say everything but stop short of saying that they are GDPR (and in turn DPA2018) compliant? Especially when they then carry on saying "Please note, these rights are not absolute, and exercising them may require us to cancel your membership." Maybe someone can correct me here. But then again, it's not aimed at the UK/EU market, just the US market at the moment...
  22. Hi All, I know that back in 2012 (yes 11 years ago), I asked a similar questions. But I was looking for a more up to date snapshot of our sector (IT). Would you join a professional association, eg the BCS, IET, (ISC)2, etc...? Are you a member? Do you see a need for it? Or don't you see a need for it? Is it too expensive? The reason why I'm asking this again is for my studies, so if you could give your views, that would be great Thanks
