They all do that, EE were bad for it the other day, I went into one the other day with my grandad, wife and son, despite them seeing that I was with my wife and grandad and that I picked my boy up and was walking about the shop with him while they were sorting out some SIM cards, I had no less than 5 other staff as me the same, if I was OK or needed anything. I doubt the people want to do it, good old corporate telling them to help people and "build relationships" or something daft ill wager.

the paying a DD online system for TV licence irritates me in that they want you to keep paying over and beyond your licence in its first year, they dont seem to encourage splitting the amount over a year like a normal DD Each year now the wife and I pay it for 6 months to get the full licence then cancel it, because I dont wish to stockpile a licence in advance, I would rather pay it divided over an entire year and have it as a lower ongoing monthly from the offset without the nonsense

I run 2013 on my work machine and have libreoffice installed to open up .od* files if their not playing ball with MS Office and I use google docs at the moment at home, though I do have Libreoffice installed as well here, because it opens the files without hassle if I ever need to open a word/excel document

We used to use Impero at our site for a long time, its a good product and offers a lot more than just basic remote control, it was too expensive for us to renew here so a decision was made to stop using it. At the moment we dont tend to remote view machines (there were only two of us in IT department that used this software across the school) now we use Dameware Mini Remote Control to connect into machines internally to work, you can configure this though to silently connect to peoples PCs also if you want to use it connect to a student workstation and monitor.

Hello, According to RM and information I have gotten off their website, it is supposedly ok to run on a 2008 R2 Server (we use that generally for all our virtual servers) I am using their own standalone instructions to install it as well, though it seems to be losing the plot a bit with the SME share on the hard disk from what I can see in the successmaker logs on the machine when diagnosing the problem, it just cannot read/write to the Database directory, despite me adding the "System" user absolutely everywhere on the permissions of the main parent and the actual directory on the machine. I did not consider a standard 2008 server and can't see how that would be anyway massively different from the 2008 R2 aside from the program files bit, though I think I may possibly give this a try when I get back to work a week Monday, the annoying thing is as everyone knows, pretty much when you get the VM running and working, its sorted forever then pretty much. *frustrating*

I run 8.1 on my office and a home machine and love it, I realise flash seems a lot more stable on 8.1, unfortunately though we use seven here and ie10 for the workstations, I don't fancy putting people through metro because of the stupid upheaval and the amount of hassle it would generate because of the start menu differences.

Flash 12.0.0.44 caused major issues here with crashing IE for us and were in midst of rolling it back now, so that can take a jump for now. I would love to see flash die too, it's horrible to patch and keep on top of at times, same for IE for me, it's such a horrible and cumbersome browser compared to chrome/mozilla

As per my other thread in BTRD about annoying things you did today, I am seeing a massive issue at the moment with a successmaker migration on our site, I am going from a 2003 R2 server to a Hyper-V based Server 2008 R2 VM and am having major problems with getting the database started on the new VM and its this awful Sybase SQL stuff. I have followed the 1.7.2 SP1 instructions on the RM page to the letter on this new installation before transferring the database over, its a standalone server installation and so far I have seen pretty much everything listed on the RM page as a "Possible Issue" has happened as well on this server, in that content stuff wont install and the database refuses to start, despite me disabling and stopping the old DB and physically shutting that box down and working through all solutions featured. I have searched google and both the RM and Pearson support sites and have tried all the different trouble shooting for the problem today, the logging shows that its basically a permissions issue with the database directory that is stopping it from starting as the SYSTEM user cannot read or write in the SME\ResultsManager\SuccessMaker\database directory, this is despite me setting the permissions for SYSTEM absolutely everywhere with the share even on the specific directory in 2008 R2. Has anyone else come managed to get SuccessMaker working a 2008 R2 VM like this ? has anyone else ever had a problem with this folder not having permissions and overcome it ? I have even tried things not on the list here, like completely remaking the share, manually setting permissions on all the directories and even starting again from scratch to no avail so far.

Was about to put up the same thing there, my parents have kept ex-battery chickens for a good while, that summed up everything very well, they can be a bind though I agree, numerous times if my parents were away for the day me and my sisters would be on chicken opening and closing and walk the dog duty, in terms of pets though they are great, with a friendly personality and good in that they do tend to go in and get ready themselves for locking away at night, though their cockerel was always a bit of a b*gger to get in and generally needed a friendly push with a sweeping brush up the ramp to get in. My fathers friend has a lot of showbirds and has an automatic closer setup for the door using some of this gear - VSB Automatic Chicken Door Opener For Coops & Poultry Houses not cheap, but it works, as long as they all get back inside in time

I got upgraded to 120mb by them last year around August for free, was on the 50 meg service before, not noticed any issues at all with speed or throttling, other than it being slightly slower in the bedroom because I use a powerline adapter to get the net upstairs to my main rig here. My days of trying to smash in my bandwidth by downloading half the internet seem to be long behind me, these days its netflix and the odd game on steam being downloaded or WoW patch, which isnt massively regular. As said too, you dont have to have a phone with the broadband either, my sister has just had it installed at her house for free because of an offer from me, she had free installation and we had a months free internet, she didnt take out a phone just the broadband. I have tried ADSL in my area and with the distance from the local towns central exchange with BT in the last place we lived, it mapped out at telling me it was 12mbps before with an actual speed of about 5.5mbps on speedtest websites, not sure of the increase now because of infinity though, but virgin just works here so I wouldnt be going anywhere else readily. I wouldnt touch virgin for TV either after the last time they and sky argued and I wound up stuck on virgin unable to watch anything I liked i.e. sky1 last time they quarelled.

I think some of the comments on this thread are spot on after catching up, I was thinking, for me it was the Megadrive I owned which was the best console for years, I still play the games now on an emulator too, I only jumped on the playstation bandwagon in about 1999 and Tekken2 was pretty much my fave game there.

we use CPLTD when we have to order them here, which is very rarely now with our managed solution.

you can buy a cheap second hand server easily enough from suppliers on here, (I wont mention the specific names as im not sure of the rules, but I think we all know who) we use that as our backup server and run test VMs on it too, I would recommend that route and would say no to mucking about in a live environment, it can be very stressy especially when something that every member of staff relies on like your print server

Sorry to bump this thread, but this is still a massive issue at our site, its getting worse tbh, the machines I am rebuilding now are getting the problem with much more regularity and failing to install office.

I watched that snowboarding earlier too, that commentary was absolutely awful with the woman who just screamed and hollered when the british girl was on, to the point where I turned it over as I couldnt tolerate it after a few minutes of it.

Lovely looking device, very impressive engineering too tbf, but overpriced too much, that being said, I am eyeing up the next rejig of airs/mac minis as that might me warrant buying a mac device finally, as I am loving the imac in work at the moment
