That’s quite an offensive generalisation there, i worked as a lowly “serf like” cleaner, that attitude is banded about a lot in schools when stuff goes missing too, I’ve heard it spoken by some when I worked in a school as staff after leaving the cleaning side of work and then discovered that pupils / teachers have taken stuff, it’s not always stolen too just removed without someone saying.

Used to be Avast/AVG pre their bloatware phase, nowadays its Bitdefender Free here for me on my windows machines, low memory usage and no fuss really.

Thats genuinely funny about the mail, app sounds a good idea largely because all of these "news sources" seem to be getting lazy and just copy pasting off any and all manner of websites like twitter/facebook, noticed it when a complaint I made about rotten turkey at chrismas on twitter was dragged into a wider story by them without any asking if I minded being included up front(I know its a public website and all that but that pee'd me right off at the time, they didnt have the courtesy to DM about it).

I have photos backed up to iCloud, wife and I both pay 79p a month for the 50GB storage option there, on top of that I have basic Office365 for Business on one of my domains(was handy as a training aid on a few technologies over the years), so one drive for business is included in that with 1TB of storage for £5 or thereabouts a month. Also have a fair few GB kicking around on various free storage platforms (Hubic, Box, DropBox) I also have a 3TB WD NAS in the house, which doesn't host anything "Important" other than music collections from MP3s, which gets backed up to a portable drive about once a year (not much gets added to it, seeing as most games download now over the web when you reinstall) though streaming has taken over the mp3 playing these days.

Comms providers we use have 70 working day lead times on commission of new business services with them, I don't know how much of that is openreach and them adding their expectations on top, we have had two sites delayed so far where they have had to give notice for road closures to run fibres and cables into buildings, both of them were 30 days notice statutory on top, one had further complications as the office has a three lane road outside which meant Sunday working for them to pull fibre and 50 pair cables in. Ironically here at the moment with one of our installations, BT have been waiting on us to get into a site and get the trunking setup for them to the cabinet, which was this weeks fun for our facilities team. Its in an estate where its pretty much all fired up and their waiting on us to be clear tomorrow. Thats business though, no idea if it varies for you on domestic though.

We have a few pro 3s which are gradually being replaced, largely because their specs don’t cope with specific tasks like adobe that well, users like their portability, though the screen size is too small to do anything comfortable on I think for long periods of time

Caught up on films over Christmas - Avengers : Infinity War Enjoyed it, found myself liking Thanos a lot though, decent character done by Brolin there. Also watched last night - Ready Player One Weak story, enjoyable film and probably distracting by the 6,000,000 pop culture/video game references

They are not the cheapest thats true especially with their enterprise services, your talking there a high end data recovery when your talking about saving RAID arrays and higher, they are probably the best around for it and I am in no means denigrating any other services or recommending them over others here, I just know though that Ontrack are quite reasonable from the couple of single hard disk jobs that I have recommended that people use them for(Sub £300 price for data recovery), when I have had people use them, like the original poster, they had the main thing back which was the recovery of years worth of not backed up folders of childrens photos.
