It might also be worth adding an exception for the file to prevent it being detected again.

How much would it cost to hire in 2 techs for 2 1/2 weeks

Call it a summer school, get a load of kids in and you might even get a grant -
After buying 25 tiny blackboards, Mr Woods grasp of personalised learning in brought into question. Or "These children are the staffs new licences to teach - see, not worth the paper they're written on!"

This depends if you are a secondary / primary. But for use it wouldn't be possible as we have the 2 exam results weeks. Do you host you own email server? If so all emails would be returned to sender. Just ensure all the staff are aware before the start of term, as no doubt someone will want to come in and use something.

Urgent: External School Systems Such As Raise Online Need A Big List

edubase, LA intranets / secure sites, AQA / exam bodies, parent pay, Support sites - HP, etc. Maybe facebook, twitter if you run these. -
It will be very low as most of these file types are already compressed in some way.

If you are purchasing the equipment, then its not waste. Just add a bit to the invoice that goods are to be used as designed and will be disposed of in accordance with WEEE when no longer required.

For parents it probably translates as, experienced staff, don't chop and change things (take a considered approach). Its working so they ain't trying to fix it. For IT professionals I'd read it as: may be difficult to change things here. Only one way to find out, apply, get an interview, take the tour and ask the questions

We have the ICT mark and have mandatory profiles - didn't even see the auditor. The LSAs did ask about personalising the profile recently. I proposed 2 solutions - scripting changes for specific users, or having a couple of specific mandatory profiles assigned to users with specific LS needs. I'd prefer to go with the scripting if I could get it to work. Unfortunately the LSAs never contacted me again...

Having just one 8 port switch won't give enough ports 1 in 7 out

Is it a lock or a clock? If its a clock, it means the groups are linked to the active directory structure. When a pc is added to the AD OU then Sophos EC will install the AV for you.

We'd look for 8 laptops per pod, 4 pods in total - giving 32 students access in a class. Been thinking today of how difficult it would be to knock something together myself: 2x 5 port switchs, 8x laptop PSUs, 2x 6-way extensions, 8x patch leads, heat shrink sleeving It would need 2 electrical sockets and 2 network points to plug into. Should be able to make each one for under £400 inc new power supplies.

The solution is for science labs, so points around the outside isn't really an option - there's benching around the edge for practicals (but not room for stools to go under benching). Plus we'd like something a bit portable.

Cheers Tony, I'll give them a call.

I'm looking for a power / network solution for our laptops. What I'd like is a pod that sits on a desk that has multiple power and network outlets for the laptops. (With one power / network in) I'm sure I've seen something like this at BETT before, but can't remember the supplier. Anyone have one of these or know where I can source them? Or is it time to go down to technology and get the saw out? See the attach pic for my artistic interpretation of the pod.

What's the warranty on them? How much to upgrade to 3yr NBD? -
Our finance team use Schoolfund It allowed us to import a student details via a SIMS report csv. No dynamic link though. If you wanted something a little more flashy that allows parents to pay online, have a look at ParentPay

We use a mandatory profiles, so the icons are part of that. You could script them to be copied from the file server to the local hard drive on login. Not sure why you would want to though

This weekend I'm going through a pile of ICT Technician application forms. The quality of candidates varies wildly from career change with no training or experience, to 1st degree with 2 years, to 20+ years experience. Given the current job market I was expecting this even with the pay level we are offering. Now being the crafty man I am, I only put a fixed pdf online for applicants. Most printed it and completed it - fair enough, others went through the LA site and got an electronic version - fine. Some found the LA standard electronic form elsewhere - bonus points. One applicant asked for an electronic version - good thinking batman, top of the class. So some advice: If there's a form to fill in, fill it in - all of it. I've got 16% of forms with information missing. The lack of attention to detail doesn't inspire confidence. In some cases its just a few boxes not ticked, others have several pages are missing. Check and check again you've ticked all the boxes needed and all sections are complete, then send them all. If you want to add more on typed sheets then read the notes, is it allowed? Don't just fill in bits of the form saying see attached sheets and then attach sheets that don't contain the information requested - it makes it difficult to compare and you'll more than likely have your form discarded. The "information to support your application" is vital. If you have to write it, why not type it first and check for typos if your spelling isn't that great. Put information that says how your experience and skills will help you in the role - read and keep checking against the job spec. Keep it relevant (OK the last paragraph can have some hobbies / outside interests). If you have just finished uni, give some detail on the course content and how it relates to the role. Everyone has a PC and WiFi at home - sorry this is no longer enough to get you a job in IT. If you have no relevant experience, did you try to get some? If so, write down what you've tried - a willingness to better yourself is a positive thing. Previous employment - don't leave gaps without explaining them. There's no shame in being made redundant - it happens to the best of us. If you left uni and lived with off your partners income for a year while deciding your future say so. An unexplained gap says to me you couldn't be bothered - OK I can't be bothered to short list you. For forms where you need to handwrite sections, why not draw lines on them in faint pencil or put a piece of lined paper underneath so you writing in straight neat lines? Or even glue on a printed out section. Presentation does count - if I'm umming and ahhing between 2 applicants then presentation might just tip the balance. Don't smoke when writing an application form, it makes them stink! Just as a bit of info for all - there are a lot of people out there with degrees now - 40% of applicants for this role. If you're thinking of doing a degree, try to find one with a year in industry. BTW I'm short listing based on experience, relevant industry qualifications, other relevant qualifications (inc degrees), any other qualifications.
