Edge deletes downloads Cortana can crash on startup and break the start menu, still unsure how to fix that When you go to Devices in All Settings then click the link for Devices and printers for old style control panel it gives a dll error but opens anyway Pinned Apps sometimes disappear for users.
-
Does anyone know if this policy still works with windows 10, it was used to set default file association in server 2012 and 8.1? Google isn't finding much. Things like Edge (auto deleting downloads)are still a bit too buggy to be defaults. Thanks

Agree with Elsiegee Schools will wait for the re-marks in the hope there percentage will go up and then publish, ours were quite good but hoping for a couple of extra % from re-marks due to our small past year 11 cohort.

I've just left them in, they don't seem to launch as students anyway.

Right so, I had pinned Internet explorer and Adobe Reader (amongst other things) to start, exported start layout, set gpo to deploy, all good so far, start menu etc deployed but the links for IE and adobe are pointing at MY roaming appdata, so other users don't get given those shortcuts. Any ideas how to get round this?? All the other custom items show up OK....

We've decided what's the worst thing that can happen if a kid has access to the weather app, Xbox etc? Most of the stuff doesn't work anyway as they aren't signed into a Microsoft account.

Just got mine capturing again now, sysprepped Ok, only difference is I haven't "uninstalled" any of the new metro apps, other causes can be if you have upgraded from a previous os (there is a reg key that needs to be deleted to get round this), might also need to reset the rearm count if you have tried multiple times? Win 10 Education Activated Office 2013 Fully Windows and Office updated On the network, Internet fine Start layout tweaked , no metro apps uninstalled. HTH

I had issues with the start menu eventually got it working with: export-startlayout -path C:\start\layoutmodification.xml, then in group policy under user > Policies >admin templates > Start menu and taskbar > Start layout in there I entered C:\start\layoutmodification.xml and it works, make sure its linked to a user OU rather than machine, and make sure the file is in the right place, wether you put it there and then replicate the machine or deploy the file seperately. Using Windows 10 Education and Server 2012.

Stuff you should know The property Hub Interesting if you are into that kind of thing

I've now reinstalled a Win 10 OS and some apps and tried the SCCM capture media which is now working, so I believe Sysprep failed due to the fact I had tried to remove start menu items by right clicking and choosing uninstall!
-
Gah, that sounds like the issue then, I stupidly assumed right clicking and choosing uninstall would be enough for the apps, clearly not! Spend another day rebuilding the image then. Thanks Sparkeh!

Has anyone managed to do this yet, don't know if my problem is specific to my build or a general issue, but it keeps failing sysprep saying "sysprep was not able to validate your windows installation, review the log file.... The logfile shows this: "2015-08-04 12:59:44, Error SYSPRP Package Microsoft.VCLibs.120.00_12.0.21005.1_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe was installed for a user, but not provisioned for all users. Anyone?

Had the preview on my home laptop, work laptop and and work desktop since it came out, its absolutely fine, no driver issues, only reason its not on my HTPC is I still need media center, as soon as it is fully released we are making an image of it and deploying to a new IT suite, and hopefully teachers lectern pc's, we have full confidence in it based on what we have seen over the past few months.

My machine has gone kinda laggy with the RTM build....

Be aware there are certain channels that you don't get on freesat, Dave for instance, also aligning a sat dish isn't just a case of point it in the same direction as neighbours, it can be really fiddly to get bang on, and if its not perfect your picture will freeze up every so often you either need a satfinder "http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Digital-Satellite-Signal-Finder-Meter-With-LCD-Display-for-Sat-Dish-DIRECTV-/271779549670" or someone inside shouting when signal improves, personally I have a media center PC with twin sat tuners, running Windows Media center, which for me personally is the best software I have found for it, and I've been using this setup for about 6 years, doubles up as a gaming machine.
