  1. I was at home chatting with a friend online whose office was above one of the stations I think it was Aldgate, she was telling me what was happening and it sounded terrifying, they were told to stay in the office, but come the end of the day they had no way of getting home, the roads were chaos and tube was obviously closed, one of the few times I have genuinely feared for someones safety.
  2. Yup 10159 just appeared on mine, lets see how this goes...
  3. Just thought I'd say thanks @elsiegee40 for all the jobs you put up on these wonderful forums, I've just noticed that I actually got my current job due to a link you posted that I would otherwise never have spotted. I somewhat believe in the butterfly effect, and you posting that job on here has led to me being much happier and better off in my everyday life, and I am sure others on here can say the same, so yeh Thanks!
  4. 24, last few were getting tough though!
  5. 10130 released lets see what this fixes or breaks!
  6. Installed, broken RSAT AGAIN, reinstall not fixing it this time
  7. I've not heard of STA before, can't see that file in either of our delivery controllers or the storefront server or the SQL server or the director nor the licensing server, in fact none of these even have the system32 folder in Citrix. What server should I be looking for it on, we aren't using any Xen apps just desktops on 4 physical hosts with 2 delivery controllers. We also have a Netscaler MPX, but as we are no longer using this for staff access from home, we aren't sure what purpose this serves???!
  8. Thanks, we were planning on doing this in the summer Hols, might take it a step further and start from scratch so we know what's what.
  9. After some help with a Citrix issue we have, we are using Citrix for vdi to Wyse terminals, as far as I am aware it has been problematic since it was first installed 2 years ago, we have ironed out most of the issues but one that keeps reccuring is students will be presented with no desktop available, and when this happens students won't be able to logon, if we logon to Citrix Director it will list machine logon failures, sometimes rebooting the ones with issues will unclog the system and people can log in again. Other times we need to load up Citrix Storefront, click on stores, click on manage delivery controllers then click ok ( without making any actual changes). The errors we get on storefront are: 1) All the Citrix XML Services configured for farm Controller failed to respond to this XML Service transaction. 2) An error occurred while attempting to read information from the Citrix servers: Unable to read data from the transport connection: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.. This message was reported from the XML Service at address http://CITRIXCTRL02/scripts/wpnbr.dll [NFuseProtocol.TRequestAddress]. The specified Citrix XML Service could not be contacted and has been temporarily removed from the list of active services. 3) An error occurred when connecting to the Citrix server to access the resource. Verify that the server is running and that the network is functioning. This error was reported for an XML Service at address http://CITRIXCTRL01/scripts/wpnbr.dll [NFuseProtocol.TRequestAddress]. 4) An error occurred while attempting to connect to the server ctxctrl01.skinnerskentacademy.org.uk on port 80. Verify that the Citrix XML Service is running and is using the correct port. If the XML Service is configured to share ports with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), verify that IIS is running. This message was reported from the XML Service at address . The specified Secure Ticket Authority could not be contacted and has been temporarily removed from the list of active services. I know this is very specific and I don't really expect a solution, but the next stage is paying a "specialist" £1000's Thanks!
  10. Can I just check what you guys are saying, Office Apps online is freebie jeebies, as in word in a browser etc, is this the case for the 5 free downloads of office 365 aswell? As ours lists that as ~£1.27 per month per student.
  11. Fair play:)
  12. I'm guessing that wasn't really Ed's number either, surely now this is in the wrong forum as it isn't an item for sale? Over-moderated IMO
  13. Custom build i7 3770 3.4Ghz 16GB 240GB Samsung Evo SSD 1TB HDD Geforce GT 610 Thermaltake case with drive caddy built in on top. 2x 27" Acer LED TFT
  14. Used Very Pc a few times at my previous School, did us a great deal and were really helpful in making sure the kit we got was right for us and within our budget, after sales support went above and beyond aswell, looking to use again in the near future.
  15. a 10074 fresh install works nicely here, current gripe is that office 2013 wont install "bootstrapper error" 3 of us in the office with same problem
  16. Lambo ...
  17. It said install failed for 10066, tried again said the same, but now it appears to not be trying to do it anymore. I've been using the 10 for Enterprise from the original build.
  18. I didn't get the 10056, think I went 10049 to 10061, hopefully 10066 will bring my start menu back!
  19. Anyone managed to get 10066 yet? Just spotted a message about unable to install it, assume it was released today?
  20. That would have been useful if A) I'd known about it and B) Windows gave me the choice to update rather than coming in and being told its updated /changes from fast to slow updates
  21. 10061 killed my start menu
  22. Would be interested to hear how you got on with ColorOS, as I've never used it before but otherwise the phone looks like decent value, also do you think its worth forking out the extra money for the 7 as opposed to 7a with higher resolution and more space and the extra 1 GB of RAM?
  23. I'm in a very lucky position where the building and equipment is all under 2 years old and mainly virtualized, so we are just trying to optimize and make as efficient as possible what we have, the building uses alot of passive heating, so relying on the natural movement of warm and cool air, and the concrete mass of the building to retain heat, what little heating we do have is pellet fed. So realistically the biggest power costs in the building are the IT and lighting, so if we can make relatively small changes and save a few thousand pounds a year I think its a pretty good use of my time. Thanks @localzuk we can definitely tweak the temp in the server room, we have 4 air con units in there with any 2 active and the other 2 as backups at any time. We have managed Sharp printers that go into standby after a few minutes idle and we only have 5 or 6 of these around the school and a special printer in art. Also all our physical servers (15) are housed in 1 blade chassis. What temp do you have your server room at btw? I think we will go ahead and put standby after 40 mins into place, with projectors turning off 5 minutes after no signal. We are going to start rolling out SSD's to teachers machines next year.
  24. So are you saying there is no point trying to save money in IT power consumption, because other things in the school still cost money??
  25. I could do with something like that for my home media system setup actually! Wouldn't be a huge use at school though as its a new build and all power sockets are built into the floor, not allowed cables trailing all over the place. Thanks though.
