Due to various other bits I am disabling the printers from broadcasting themselves. For the life of me we can't find the setting on the brother. Any tips please? EDIT: I did a firmware update and the option to disable appeared.

I am in the process of removing domain controllers at our 20 remote sites. All our servers will be all central. Keep it as simple as possible. It was only this weekend one site had a power outage. Luckily it was a local site and not one that is an 8 hour drive. One pain about having DC everywhere is there will be a minimum of a 15 minute replication delay on password reset from another AD site. In the advent of cloud they won't be to do much anyway. They could login but not get email etc. They might not be able to get files unless you replicate to the on site DC.

Thanks to those who replied. The amount of printers we have it will be a huge job to disable it on each. Ideally I need something quick so Group Policy would be proffered. We can look at the changing each printer long term when we have more time. I will have a proper look in the morning and see if I can find anything. If anyone does have anymore suggestions please don't hesitate to reply.

Hello, Does anyone know of a way to stop users from adding their own network printers please? They are doing this trough the settings app. Because they are doing this they are by-passing our print server! I have added a screenshot to demonstrate this. Thanks

Hello, I am trying to run the following command in a Powershel script. This is to grant a user modify rights onto a folder. I am doing it this was as it cannot be done in Powershel code on a single line. icacls "C:\Test\1" /grant:r [email protected]:(OI)(CI)M /T Powershell is kicking up a fuss with the (OI) bit. See attached. It works ok in the command prompt. Can someone help with getting this working please? Thanks

They have had to move lots of aircraft around for the rescue. eg A gas guzzling A380 flew empty from Malaysia and will need to be returned. Also all the old TC planes will need shuffling around so might not be as good as it sounds.

Hello, The organisation I work for has previous manually mapped printers for users. The printers were spread around 15 servers. We now want to consolidate these down to 1 server and map the printers using Group Policy Preferences. Once we start to de-commision servers there will be a large amount of disruption. So I was wondering if anyone has a script I could run at login that will collect what network printers a user is connected to and then store this information in a central CSV file please? Based of this information we can then configure the Group Policy printer mapping and keep disruption to a minimum. Thanks for any help

You don't need to remove from the domain to rename. I used to work at a bank that had a script to auto rename PCs. Just thinking about this. I can have 2 scripts. One for the desktop naming convention and one for laptops. I could use SCCM to target the correct devices. As a result I won't need to have this function in the script. So the easier option will be good. Thanks

Could you make USB devices read only instead of completely blocking? What way all the card readers will work and guests presenters etc can still read their data from USB.

Hello, This will be an advance script so there is a chance I won't be successful, but you never know.... I was wondering if anyone can help with a script I want to create. Currently our Windows computers are named after their asset numbers (and a few other inconsistent random names!). This makes it difficult to determine from a name as to where of our 20 sites a computer is based. I am looking to rename the computers based on the below system. - eg: BAL-001 or PAN-001 Each site has its own IP range so the code to use could be determined from that. The device number will be the next free number available in AD Better still if we could stretch it so I can differentiate between desktops and laptops even better. eg: BAL-PC001 or PAN-LTOP001 Any help would be gratefully received. With 4th Gen processors these are pretty old computers. Are they not on their way out anyway?
