Just wondering what you guys think about the Apple Airtags? I think they look pretty good. Although maybe a little bulk to put onto my keys so not quite sure I could use them. I am surprised to find you can replace the battery. It would be good if they could use that technology in Wifi iPads. It will help when they are lost outside of an SSID.

Agree with the above. I would make the printer vlan for use with any devices with a static IP. I can’t see any benefit at all of separating staff and students.

Hello, I have done this at a MAT and also in private business. My current company has 18 sites across a wide area (literally a plane ride away) with a single AD. Answers are in red. Do you keep a RODC on-prem at each school in the event of an outage No. Connections have redundancy. Is any of this feasible with only an FttC connection Yes. However you need to asses the available bandwidth against your userbase. We are in an age that local on site infrastructure is being kept to a minimum. Invest in backup internet connections not local on site hardware. You will also have the benefit of no internet interruption if your primary link does fail. With cloud technology being common place you would be having problems anyway without a redundant connection. Also it's less to maintain not having on site servers.

I would not be having personal devices connecting via VPN and mapping network drive. If these unmanaged insecure devices get ransomeware you're going to have a headache. In addition if they don't have the right apps installed they won't be able to open the files. I would upload the documents you need to a cloud solution. For example OneDrive or Sharepoint. They can view the files in the browser. In addition they can use other devices such as iPads etc.

You could use Foldr. It will allow you to access network shares via app and / or web interface. The long term solution would be to migrate your data into a cloud service. Eg: OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive. This would work out cheaper, less maintenance and easier to use.

Do you use WLAN groups please?

You would only test the power supply anyway. Are you charging them and plugging into the mains at school? If not you will be fine as there isn’t anything to test.
