How are the switches connected? Are they managed 3Com switches?

Hi James, Is it identical equipment in all areas? Do you have managed switches? If so - perhaps check the port statistics for your links between buildings 2 and 3... this might give you a pretty good clue. Do you have just one pair of fibres to each location?

@localzuk - Yep, with smoothwall you can set bandwidth limits for your clients. Is quite useful... our Ruckus system can also do bandwidth limiting... very useful!

Hi All, Just a quick question for those of you who are already leasing your PCs. How flexible is the leasing company you use for returning equipment? For example, do they expect it all to be returned at the end of the contract straight away? or can you extend the agreement for a couple of months to phase the returns? Just curious as I'm due to return some equipment at the end of the Summer and the leasing company I use (who shall remain nameless) aren't being terribly flexible... Cheers, Ant

No... it needs ipv6 to function, but it doesn't require you to go purely ipv6 on your internal network.

No - probably not the best idea. A SAN certificate would be a much neater way of doing it.

You could just put add an A record to your internal DNS that points mail.schoolname.org to the internal IP address of your exchange server... I'd make sure that your exchange server was looking at an external DNS server for name resolution though...

Sorry - I misread your original post. A few things to check. 1. "Organisation Configuration - Hub Transport - Remote Domains" - this should be set to "*" 2. "Organisation Configuration - Hub Transport - Accepted domains" - Should be set to your external domain name. 3. "Server Congfiguration - Hub Transport - Receive Connectors" - Check the Default send connector has anonymous authentication ticked and that it is set to use all IP addresses on the Network tab. You can also turn the protocol logging up to verbose (e.g. lots!) to see if it's working. It might also be worth telnetting through to your 2010 box via the external IP and see if you can send a simple email using HELO/EHLO. A

Does your ISP know the external address of your 2010 box?

Option 1) Use robocopy. Option 2) Do a restore from backup media and redirect it to the new server... depends though what you use to do your backups.
