@Psymon - Just a quick q, do you find Exchange 2010 benefits from having 4 cpus? I'm capacity planning for it at the moment and would have a similar requirement to you (apart from the majority of our mailboxes are around 250MB).

When I was narrowing down my wireless investigations it was between Ruckus and Aruba and Aruba seemed very keen to match the Ruckus pricing... Still went with the Ruckus solution in the end though.

A five year lifecycle is a bit long if it's your one and only server!

How do you back stuff up? Why not put more drives into your Stone server, rebuild the RAID array and restore your data?

I've got some Acer laptops that have accidental damage cover - this has been great for us - amazing how many staff manage to drop their laptops, break off headphones, snap usb connectors, jam a biro into the LCD screen... etc. etc. etc.

From memory I seem to remember that it stores calibration data in the profile of the user that installed the software (at least it did the last time I used a SmartBoard... which would be, oh, about five years or so ago).

Are there any BIOS/Firmware updates available for the server? I had some issues with R2 on an HP box... an ML115 I think, but the firmware update sorted it.

Hi all, I'm planning to upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 over the next few months, but I've got a query in regard to Active Sync. I understand that if you co-exist Exchange 2003 and 2010 that 2003 will still act as the bridgehead server. What I want to know is - at what point does Active Sync "take over" on the 2010 box? Is it when the user's mailbox is transferred? or is it from day 1? Any advice gratefully received. Ant

Ruckus APs have additional ethernet ports on them that you can connect devices to - this might be a nice neat solution. Beaten to it!

Is IMAP enabled in Exchange? Should have said - it's not enabled by default in Exch 2007. You'll need to do this in EMS: "Set-service msExchangeIMAP4 -startuptype automatic" "Start-service msExchangeIMAP4".

Hi Wes, Try this - open up TMG and right click on Firewall rules - Click New, then Mail Server Publishing Rule - run through the wizard and make sure that you select IMAP. That's about it... Ant

I've done lots of domain migrations in a past life... so more than happy to offer advice. I've used a variety of methods in the past to move data (including robocopy and xcopy) - I found the easiest way to get data from one place to another is to just restore it from your backup media, and then apply shares and permissions using a batch file. I then use an excel spreadsheet (with various concatenate commands in it!) to generate the commands to run the batch files.

In Exchange you can either let it automatically choose which DCs to use to talk to or you can manually specify use this DC (handy in split sites with slow links and such). Have a look in Exchange System Manager and double-check that it's not looking for your demoted DC. Oh hang on - did you run dcpromo to demote your old DC?

Was this DC your only GC by any chance?

All the kit is gone I'm afraid. I'm intrigued to know what the project was...

Have you tried a nice simple "ipconfig /flushdns" - it may be that simple. Edit: ... and probably worth clearing your ARP cache too.
