Happy Friday! We have just purchased some Chromebooks for use in school and I am looking at setting up Connect for Chromebooks. As we have pupils working on Google Classroom both in school and at home, will this setup effect the access for those pupils at home. I think it will, but asking as this must be a common setup now. Thank you for any help

Thank you all for your comments and advise.. We have a new Head of IT who would like to get a handle on where we are before planning what we do next and where we want to be. I don't think it is a bad idea but yes we don't want to have a company trying to tell us what we are doing wrong so they can sell us their products! I will look into 9ine I have had dealings with them before and they seemed really good and not pushy.

Good afternoon, I hope all is well with you and yours.. I'm after some advice about the use of Zoom. Our school is using Google Classroom to deliver lessons while we are closed and as part of that we are using Google Meet. However our music department has instructed their peripatetic staff to deliver lessons via Zoom.. I would rather it was all kept within Classroom etc as that is within our google domain. From a GDPR perspective where do we stand as the pupils are connecting directly to the peris, pupils dont have school email accounts so they must be using their own or their parents accounts to sign up to zoom. Thanks for any guidance.

Hi, We are hoping to use Google Meet. I've changed the settings so pupils cannot invite others but I'm a little concerned about what I am reading. So just so I'm straight, pupils can kick the teacher out and carry on without them? It would be better to livestream so teachers cannot see pupils? Thanks for any help

Hi, We are looking at migrating from on premise Exchange to Office 365. Can I ask for advice as to which version of Office 365 you are using? A1 looks sufficient for the vast majority of our staff but I'm concerned about our admin staff in particular and whether A1 would provide all the functionality needed. Do your admin / SLT staff find A1 sufficient or have you gone for A3? Many thanks and Happy Friday!

Thanks for the replies, yes we are an indpendent school. I've convinced our nurse to trial our MIS and see how she gets on with it. I'm a bit loath to buy in another piece of software if we can use something we already have. Unless PASS doesn't provide all the functionality we need. A spreadsheet may be an option, we will see how it goes.

Good morning, I'm currently having conversations with our school nurse about how she records visits to the surgery and medications given etc. This information is currently recorded on paper and locked away. We are looking at whether it would be more practical (or not) to move to an online system, whether that be our MIS (PASS), spreadsheets or something else. Could I ask for advice please? Thank you all for your comments, I like the idea of a blank form but as enjay said it would be a huge task for our admin staff. I did see somewhere a suggestion that parents are asked to review their details during parents evening. We may go with that and just send forms to those that do not attend.

Good Morning, We have, in the past, sent printed sheets home detailing the contact details etc of pupils for parents to amend and send back. I am a bit nervous of doing this again with regards to GDPR. We are not a SIMS school so cannot use the app. How do other schools deal with this? I have seen the use of google forms mentioned, has anyone used that method? Any guidance would be great, many thanks Sarah

I've given up with it now. I've emailed them a few times lately and had no reply. It is a shame as when it worked it was great. I've gone over to using resource bookings with google calendar and embedding the calendar in a google site. It seems to work well.

Hi, This might be a silly question but here goes. So for all our suppliers that we share our data with, do we need to actually write to them individually for clarification on whether they are GDPR compliant, or can we take their privacy policies (some I have been sent or are on their websites) as proof.
