Getting long in the tooth now waiting for this upgrade, still no notification so we wont be getting any upgrade it any time before October at the earliest with the aim to move everyone over by the end of 2013 education has been left very much last! The Blog articles have all been removed from the Office 365 Service Upgrade Center wikis page too which had many people commenting on when/where

I had this exact problem when I was at school, three times I had the wrong students reports and ended up in the dog house for it until my parents got in touch with the school. Even worse I was put in the wrong groups as classes were split into top middle and bottom, well I was in bottom for everything for a few months before being moved to top and middle in most subjects!

Reminds me of the time I went to currys with my mate who at the time was purchasing a PS3 on a finance scheme, of course then came the up-sale pitch from the Currys employee who ended up arguing with me that I wouldn't find a HDMI cable cheaper the what they sold which would be compatible.... in this case he insisted Monster cables were a requirement at £60 for a 2m HDMI. I explained I worked at CEX and sold them for £4 (this was around 5 years ago), really wasn't having any of it so we went and purchased elsewhere.

I'm currently looking into the use of Skydrive Pro for use in a school environment, while we are still on the 2010 version of 365 waiting for the 2013 version I want to clear a few things up.... Can SkyDrive be configured for each users redirected home folder so effectively they have a direct synced copy of their my documents in their SkyDrive cloud area? How is the above managed, certain requirements such as roaming profiles? GPO's available? Does SkyDrive pro support SSO?

Still waiting here, microsoft support tell me they don't know when, a Microsoft partner specializing in SharePoint also told me some of their clients had received the upgrade but not all and they couldn't get any confirmation on pattern or update cycle for 2010 - 2013 . Seems to vary greatly as we are still waiting and holding back on services such has office 2013 and stronger SharePoint.

Students have access to just the Citrix gateway, their wifi is on its own ip range as many others here. Then running a vdi as if external the vdi will work as an internal computer simples.

As discussed in the main thread I think we have some rough ideas of peoples programming experience but lets get a more details overview, Ill start: Well 2007-2010 I studied Computer Science at Wolverhampton University, this course covered a lot of different things quiet lightly never really giving enough detail on anything to do alot with it but more to get you interested. During the first semester I did one module in Programming Fundamentals in Java which consisted of an hour lecture followed by 2 hours of workshop and a small homework task. I also did an OO in java module during the 2nd semester again consisting of the same times. Now only a few years on I haven't used this knowledge since those lessons and I've pretty much forgot almost everything taught then syntax wise. So you guys...?

Other then my first year module on basic none OO java near 5 years ago (A16 ) I havn't touched coding really, reading this discussion is making me want to try out python and even refresh my memory on java

Not top university's at all but I know Birmingham, Stafford and Wolverhampton all teach java as a first year module on computer science followed by OO java, then C if you take the game dev route. Even if just for the first few weeks i'd expect programming fundamentals to be taught in a more basic language then C. How about phython, I've not used it but I hear its a great starting language plus code academy support it. Check out their projects after doing some lessons
