  1. Just had an incident here that's left me wondering... A member of our teaching staff has just demanded that a pupil hand over his own USB drive, suspecting that it contained flash games that he's been using in lessons. As it happenes it did, but having just inspected the contents of his drive, I'm wondering about the legality of this. I know that staff can confiscate mobiles, but are NOT allowed to look at what's on them. Would it be the same with usb drives ?
  2. That made me laugh. It did, really
  3. Was this ever resolved ? I have EXACTLY the same problem with Backup Exec 11d and SIMS....
  4. Want to live in the Lakes ? Here's one - nice school too: http://www.keswick.cumbria.sch.uk/vacancies/ICT%20Technician%20April%2009.pdf Regards
  5. The 360AFD isn't the best flash around - I've read that it suffers from some fall-off. Nissin seems to be well regarded - try this one: Nissin Di622 Digital Flash for Canon EOS TTL II Camera uk £84 The Interfit kits are quite good - I want one at some point. The 150's not very powerful, but probably good enough for anything other than pro work. Regards
  6. We'ev used Dataquest International: Dataquest Int Ltd - Hard disk data recovery services that you can rely on - Home They were very good. Good luck with your data

    Wii Games

Samba de Amigo. We had this on the Dreamcast years ago and I've just bought my wife the Wii version and a pair of maraccas. I'm useless at it, but it's fun watching my wife
  9. I'm REALLY fluent in Bad Language. Does that count ?
  10. We've been reading up on MS's System Center Configuration Manager. Anyone use it and is it any good ?? Regards all Adrian
  11. Mines made of wires and boxy things with winky lights on
  12. OK, I don't THINK it's any of the above. Have simply deleted the security group and re-added it (and re-done the security on all the relevane folders). Will keep an eye on it this afternoon
  13. It's just done it again, almost right in fron t of my eyes... However, looking in the Security event logs, I have a whole load of entries with Event ID 633 and 641 where it shows the following (example): Source: Security Category: Account Management Type: Success A Event ID: 633 User: NT Authority\system Computer: Server01 Security Enabled Global Group Member Removed Member Name: DN=Julie Sutton,OU=Staff,OU=school,DC=fairfieldjnr,DC=internal Member ID: FAIRFIELDJNR\juliesutton Target Account Name: staff Target Domain: FAIRFIELDJNR Target Account ID: FAIRFIELDJNR\Staff Caller User Name: SERVER01$ Caller Domain: FAIRFIELDJNR Caller Logon ID: (0x0,0x1D76005) Privileges: _ I get one for every staff member... Seems this thing's got a mind of it's own. I don't have any clever scripts, or indeed anything weird set up at all on this server... Odd, odd, odd.
  14. I have a bit of an odd problem. I'm currently setting up a brand new server/domain, etc for one of our local feeder primarys. We're using Server 2003 (Standard ed, SP2), just a single domain controller. The new server is sitting on the same physical network as the old one. I have set up a 'Staff' security group in AD. I then add the staff members to this group - all fine and good. I then come in the next morning, log on to the server and discover that the Staff group has no members. This happens every day and I can't find anything in the event logs as to why this is happening. I have another security group with just a couple of staff members in it and these staff members STAY in the group. Totally baffled. HELP ! Regards all Adrian
  15. You do realise that your husband deliberately broke the old one during decorating, don't you ? Anyhow, last leccy thing I bought was a Wii for my wife. Need Wii Fit now. Gyrating wife....mmmmm...
  16. Just ensure that you have RM Application Wizard and Winstall LE allocated to the PC
  17. We use a dedicated PC here for building packages and restore it using Ghost after making any package. Avoids this problem and dead quick to restore
  18. 1 Zoom X6 router 1 self built PC (wired, can't be arsed to write the spec) 1 old Celeron Toshiba laptop (wireless in the kitchen - ideal for recipies) My Wife's work laptop occasionally (wireless) Xbox 360 (wired, streams music, videos and piccies from PC) Wii (wireless) Original Xbox (wired, and yes I STILL use it on and offline) DS (for those Professor Layton puzzle downloads) After a day here, why on Earth would I want to come home to yet another server ? Don't you guys have other hobbies
  19. Good Lord, whatever happened to live and let live ? Jade Goody hasn't done anyone here any harm, and surely must be dreadfully frightened at what is about to happen to her. My compassion for someone isn't governed by their intelligence either...
  20. Is there a list of suppliers who will be there ? Also, we are a CLEO school in Cumbria. Can we come ???
  21. I've been having much hilarious fun over the last week or so trying to get an iMac (with OSX10.5.4) to authenticate to the domain. It sometimes works, it sometimes doesn't. Also, the RM supplied CC3 logon app and scripts don't appear work properly with OS X10.4 and above - the shares refuse to mount on the desktop. We are seriously looking to dumping our Art Macs. There's little software that we can't run on PC's and maintaining them is time consuming. You need to set up security at each machine, and the little oiks will still find a way of trashing the desktop. We have to periodically clear them up. Not worth the hassle in my opionion.
  22. We use an RM Diskbox and a Sun LTO-3 autochanger for a disk to disk to tape backup system, with Backup Exec 11d. Huge storage on the autochanger.
  23. Yes, I am kind of after something somewhat smaller... Thanks anyway !
  24. Our music department are wanting to buy 40 MP3 players. All fine and good, EXCEPT they want players with a 'slow play' function... I know Tascam do something like this, but I imagine they will be horrifically expensive. Does anyone know of a player that can do this ? Ta Regards all
