I wouldn't bother looking at gaming PC's... Look for a spec that incudes something like an NVidia Quadro, or ATI Fire GL video card. These are specifically geared towards CAD work.

Remove the device from Device Manager and completely re-install it ? Is it a SCSI drive ?

We haven't bought client PC's from RM for some years - they're just too expensive for the spec you get. All our new PC's are bought with Vista Business licences allowing us to downgrade to XP Pro. Providing you can get hold of drivers to allow a network build and your covered with CC3 licencing, there's no problem.

I also had this problem once with a new monitor. Turned out that the OLD VGA cable I used to connect it wasn't fully wired, so the PC had no idea what type of monitor it was talking to. I could get a picture, but only use standard resolution settings. A new cable solved the problem.

I think witch is looking for something a little less bulky than an SLR. Not only that, the standard kit zoom can hardly be discribed as long and alternatives would be rather expensive... I'd second the comment about Panasonic stuff. From what I've seen, they're very good.

You may end up with parents being concerned about the use of 'violent games'... You would also need a licence for each copy - I'd be amazed if you got this running with a single copy of terminal services. Try Paintball 2.0. It's free and no-one dies

What's you budget ? I'm currently commisioning a nice little RAID5 server for one of our big primarys. Cost about £1100, but you can get them a heck of a lot cheaper than that, though. Desktop PC's don't always make the best servers as they're not really designed to be left switched on for months on end. Best regards

Self-build Celeron 336, 1GB RAM, 80 + 20GB HD, FX5500 Video, two monitors. Anything more powerful is totally pointless for network admin. I'd rather spend the money on resources for students.

you need one of these: Xbox 360 Crossfire Wireless Gaming Receiver - Xbox 360 Accessories - GAME.co.uk Or, you can get away with a play and charge kit if you're happy to have a wired connection to the PC. Not all games will work with it, though. I think quite a few MS Games for Windows have the ability, otherwise you might need this: Xbcd 360 Install Guide to get it working with other games.

This can actually be a DRM issue. My 360 refused to talk to my PC after I upgraded the CPU. It turned out to be a DRM problem, even though I had no DRM'd media on the PC. Try this: Do a search over drive C: for DRM*.*. It should find a folder. Delete the contents of this folder and try to reconnect to the 360. Worked for me. Good luck Adrian

Good idea for backgrounds - I've found some really good studio lighting kits for not too much money (including an infra red or radio trigger), but the cost of background frames seems a bit steep considering there's not much too it ! Where are you placing your wide andgle background light ?

I've got a Little Pentax K100D. Avoided the typical old CaNikon path as I've always liked Pentax kit and I can use some REALLY old lenses with this camera. I've had some of the best pictures I've ever taken with this camera, have also used it to shoot two weddings...it's good money if you've got the balls to do it Getting a K20D this year to go with it and am seriously thinking about some part time portrait work soon.

Don't know. Haven't tried, since I have both connected and can't be bothered to download a load of conversion files onto my 360... Gamertag's Noddy1969, by the way. I'm on Halo 2 & 3 online, often on a Friday (after a glass or two of wine) :-)

Err...I still play games with mine, despite my wife bringing home a new 360 for me. Still plenty of Halo 2 online goodness to be had.
