I've got it going now, I cheated and just added it to the Domain and then I could get to the network to run the stuff needed. Thanks for the fast replies again though.

Thats exactly what I was after, cheers. Don't suppose you got any idea why I can connect to the internet but going Start then Run and putting in the server (which works fine on already built machines) doesn't work?

Hi, I have done this before but can't remember how to do it and the RM site says I don't have the rights to look up the article anymore. Anyway, I have a laptop I want to add to the CC3 network, it isn't CC3 ready though and i know if you get xp set up with the right admin password and stuff you can go to Start and then Run, and find a file on the network which you run to start the CC3 build on the laptop. Does anyone know what I have to type in, it was something like: \\[server]\RMHolding... Also I have just wiped this laptop down and put xp on it, I have it plugged into the network and it can connect to the internet but I can't access the network (which wil be a problem), any ideas on that? Thanks.

Sorry, I forgot to reply here. I got it working in the end, turns out the updated driver was fine however the cable going into the back of the whiteboard was a bit funny/loose, it is now working after taking the board off and wiggling it about a bit. (bit of a mission with just me doing it haha) Thanks for all the replies though, they helped loads with trouble shooting.

Should do somewhere, i'll have to try and dig one out.

It's a Promethean board, I have noticed that it keeps putting on a serial drive (and doesn't show an exclamation icon) however if I untick the box that only shows compatible drivers then I can put on a USB version of the same driver but as soon as I restart the computer it then displays the exclamation mark icon in device manager and it only displays the serial one again for compatible drivers.

Ok I have it sorted. I have been having a few embarrasing D'oh moments the past couple of weeks haha, I was logging in as just Administrator rather than systemadmin... The drives are all mapped when logging on with any network account. Sorry but thanks for your posts.

It is native USB, it has power as the light is on in the top right corner, it has the latest driver and I have tried another laptop. I am not on site till next week but I will try un powering the board and unpluggin the USB cable and Putting it all back on, cheers for some ideas.

Hi, I have just added an RM Ready workstation on a CC3 network, it has finished building however it is not mapping the drives, it says preparing connection when it oads up and has a connection as I can go Start - Run to get to the network, the mapped drives just won't show up. When building this workstation it complained that the NETbios was incorrect however I knew it was, I changed it slightly I added a .Internal to it and then it went through but then all of a sudden came up that it stopped responding and needed to close, pressing don't send and then restarted and built fine. Any ideas why the drives won't map? Thanks.

Sorry if this has been posted before, i've searches but not found anothet thread on this specific problem. We have a Promethean IWB and it used to work fine for ages, recently it's started being a bit temperamental (working then not working), all of a sudden it has stopped working all together. The Active Control icon in the task bar has a red cross through it, usually when it does this I just upgrade the drivers and it kicks in, I have upgraded the drivers to the most recent, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver many times hoping it would just start working again. When I go to Device Manager it says it is working fine under the HIDs but the cross won't go away and the pens don't work because of this. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Well I haven't actually got it working yet as I am not going to be on site till next week. Just to lay this to rest, Putting in the EST/ and then the server is wrong...right? and I do need to put the EST/ then where abouts I want it to go in the MC?

I'm pretty sure I can get on as setup, I won't be able to look at this problem till next week now but when I can I will check all this out. Laptops have been added fine a few months back though so would that mean this should go through rather than time out? I've just remember it came up with this error though: Commissioning process failed Module: ApplicationDelivery Reason: StnLocation returned error -1 See C:\Program Files\Research Machines\Network Management\Logfiles\StnLocationLog file for details Seems like it's got the wrong location entered by that but i'm almost certain I put the right location in everytime I try a build. EDIT: Ok, after running through what I done in my head I realised I put the first 3 establishment letters of the establishment then a forward slash and then put the server in...was I meant to put in where abouts I want the workstation to go to in the Management Console? For example: HAW/Main Site/Workstations I know I seem clueless but it's been a while since i've worked with CC3.

Hi, I am having problems getting a workstation added to a CC3 network, I am having similar problems to this; http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/16582-rm-cc3-workstation-rebuild-having-problems.html The thing is though the workstation is a brand new RM ready machine, I put the info into the boxes (NETbios etc) and after it does it's rebooting and stuff it loads to a normal Windows logon screen rather than the RM screen and when logged on doesn't grab all of the programs from the network, it does allow the different accounts to log onto it and can access the network. It's as if it has made a connection, started to pull what it needs for the build and then skips the rest. Any ideas? Thanks.
