Looking for something less than £60 for our new school that can be kept in IT office for staff & students to borrow when they just want quick snaps or short videos. Any recommendations?

I'm not cashing out my investment for 9.5 years, it'll tie in with my retirement! So it matters not what it's worth now, I rarely look. It's not a huge amount, some several hundred pounds invested.

Making a start on the computer naming templates for a brand new secondary school we're opening soon. For teaching rooms, the plans is to name the teacher PC : "-" eg. 1e500-2206 Student PC's will then be sequentially added; 1e501-2206 , 1e502-2206 Admin and office areas are a little bit more tricky - what do others do? I've ended up with things like: recept00-2206 attend00-2206 headpa00-2206 hho1-2206 hho2-2206 We try and always put 00 in teaching rooms to determine it's the teacher PC - but wondering if I should drop this in offices and number from 01....or drop the number altogether if I'm certain there wont' ever be a second PC in a particular area :/

Hi, So I created a new folder share - gave everyone modify rights. Added the following keys to a test PC: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration: SCLCacheOverride = 1. And SCLCacheOverrideDirectory = .\\\O365Tokens\%username%\token Rebooted the test PC. Logged in and the licencing tokens are still being created locally in Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Licensing Can anyone see what I've done wrong?

This has been suggested by MS as a possible fix. As discussed over the phone, you can configure the licensing token to roam with the user's profile or be located on a shared folder on the network. This can be done by enabling the include the SCLCacheOverride and SCLCacheOverrideDirectory. Since you already have Office apps installed the SCLCacheOverride and SCLCacheOverrideDirectory can be edited in the registry. Navigate to registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration, add a string value of SCLCacheOverride, and set the value to 1. Also, add a string value of SCLCacheOverrideDirectory and set the value to the path of the folder to save the licensing token. To allow each user license token be added in a folder within the licensing folder on the shared path, kindly ensure the file path is added in the below path format example. \\server\users\%username%\token OR \\server\share\%username% I'm struggling the next couple of days for time, but should be able to try this by the end of the week.

Sophos here, but not sure it's related, we can re-create the issue with Sophos disabled. If you sign in as a test user with Office licence, open WORD and check it's activated. Then sign as an admin and remove the user's profile manually by deleting C:\users\ & deleting the associated entry in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\ProfileList Log back in as the test user and open WORD - for me it's then unlicenced/ unactivated. However, if you remove the local profile by using "systempropertiesadvanced.exe" - then all is well. Be good to see if anyone can replicate the above.

Hi all, Can anyone recommend a decent solidly built tablet we can issue to a couple of PE staff so they can hop on the WiFI and do their lesson registers in Bromcom, seems overkill to supply them with Apple iPads (which is of course their preference!)

Another remote session with Microsoft on this today and they were able to run SetupProd_Assisted.exe to gather "fiddler" logs from the user when WORD opens and activates fine and when it's in the "broken" state! These are going to be analysed and a more senior MS guy calling back later for another remote session.... May not be making progress in terms of a fix but at least I feel I'm doing something :/ and MS seem genuinely interested/keen to get to the bottom of it. FYI It's MS Case #:30080538

Not sure what happened, but left it a while then instead of pressing enter once to get in, I pressed twice quickly and I got the menu prompt. Very odd, switch now configured and going in over lunch. Do have a micro USB which I'll test tomorrow when I get more time....

I have console cable connected between HP 2530-48 port switch and Windows 10 PC. Console cable is COM type - but then I've a COM to USB adapter which is working (drivers installed) - COM3 is the given port number. I change COM3 speed to 115200, Data Bits 8, Parity None, Stop bits 1 and flow control None. Open Putty. Change Session to SERIAL and enter COM3 - set speed to 115200 In connection I change Serial to COM3 and Flow Control to None. When I open the Putty console and press Enter - nothing happens What am I doing wrong? I need to get this switch configured ASAP of course
