The thread is generic I think. The advice I was given on tripods is that you want a metal head and something fairly substantial, otherwise it will wobble and be a waste of time. Calumet do some nice own brand ones.

In the Uni I work at it there are both ways of working - a central Computing Services department who look after infrastructure and communal facilities and then teams within each school who look after stuff specific to their department and local infrastructure and facilities. The central team is bigger and people have more specific responsibilities - one team looks after the network, one team does the servers, one team does purchasing, one team does helpdesk. Here in the schools we are much more jack of all trades - in effect the three of us here are a microcosm of the whole of Computing Services.

Can anybody recommend a decent (free) CMS that can handle content in multiple languages, ideally where each page in English has a counterpart page in each of the languages you are using? (I'm not looking for automated translations, just a structure into which translated versions can be placed.) I've looked at Joomla and the various plug-ins it has for handling languages, but I have reservations about security because of the way it needs so much of the directory to be chmod 775. I plan to install onto a shared/virtual host (as yet to be identified) so leaving the permissions so wide open concerns me. I've also looked at TribiqCMS which seems very capable (once you get GD working properly) but far too complicated for the people who are going to manage the content. Thanks for any suggestions

Might also be worth looking into adjustment layers. That way you can have a starting point document and then change the photo on the background layer and tweak the effect on each adjustment to suit each picture, and to make sure the cracks aren't in the same place on each pic.

At home I switched to an espresso maker rather than filter, as I can easily do a single cup quantity of industrial strength coffee. For the beans, Costco do big bags of beans which Starbucks have blended for them, which I find makes a very decent cappuccino.

Ahh, Java != JavaScript, so reinstalling the former won't fix a problem with the latter. Location is the JS object which handles the current URL, and moving to new addresses. Access to this object between frames/windows originating from different sites is restricted to prevent/reduce the opportunitites for Cross-Site Scripting. Obviously certain browsers are less security minded than others (or just report errors more!)
