  1. OK thanks Nick, yeah I was a bit confused as to whether to leave the {0} in for a Vanilla install, to remove completely or to substitute for another variable? Does {0} act as a variable for username on non RM? Sister Annex if you could send me yours when in today would appreciate it. Thanks Again PS am I correct in thinking that it is best to only run this on HTTPS and disable access on HTTP.
  2. Hi All Just started looking into HAP on a vanilla system runninig IIS 7 on Server 2008 R2, but am struggling a bit as not really gone into IIS before! Would any one be able to PM me a copy of their config file minus any admin passwords so I can have a look at what needs to be done - I tried the tool but am still struggling somewhat. Thanks in advance
  3. Sorry I haven't worded my query well enough. I know that the wireless should be encrypted and that the reasons are pretty obvious but I've just started supporting the school today and was hoping that there was some kind of document out there that I could show to the head to support my concerns, e.g. something like "Bectas guidance on wireless security" or "LGfL wireless security guidelines". I just can't find any such document.
  4. It's not a guest wireless, it's not filtered, not on a VLAN. @plexer - I realise it's common sense, I was just hoping to find some supporting documentation.
  5. Just been in to a new school to do a bit of work and noticed that they have a site-wide unsecured wireless network. I want to raise this issue to the head ASAP. Can anyone point me to any current guidelines about wireless security? Thanks in advance.
  6. Just out of interest, how much does the Sophos Web Appliance cost? It gets really good reviews.
  7. Will look into secondary DCs. Has anyone used windows inbuilt software mirroring? I know there will be a performance overhead but is it any good?
  8. OK, it looks like dropping off the domain and rejoining is the way forward and a valuable lesson learned. Thanks all.
  9. 1. - Just the one 2. - again, just the one 3. - Yeah I'm starting to get that impression Any recommendations as to what Backup to use? Is the new Windows Backup in server 2008 any good?
  10. Embarrassingly, no and no This is soul destroying!
  11. Had a HDD fail in the PDC, turns out it was the HDD with the System partition on so have replaced the HDD and restored an older Ghost image of the HDD. Everything looks ok except for the fact that every workstation on the network can't login with the following error, "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed." Windows 7 clients and Server 2008 (non R2) Is there any way to fix this besides dropping every machine off the domain and rejoining? Thanks in advance.
  12. Having exactly the same problems, lock shows the desktop and show demo does the same. Did anyone find a fix to this?
  13. Has anyone successfully setup Cobian within a school to backup to an FTP server? Really struggling with this - don't know what the working directory should be. Also the Proxy server is proxy1.equinoxsolutions.com, is this a SOCKS 5 Proxy? Any help would be appreciated.
  14. Did anyone find a solution to this, I'm having this problem now.
  15. Straight hook, bag for the Dyson, Virtual memory
  16. That's a nice idea - had been thinking of a good way to send messages out to staff, i.e. "Server maintenance Next Thursday" or "Stop breaking the computers" This one's perfect - Thanks.
  17. I will give that a try aswell - although the PE takes quite a bit longer to load up.
  18. I got it working on a 2008 R2 Server today with minimal complications - had to change the himem.sys on the boot image for one from a WinME bootdisk.
  19. I found the following post on edugeek and it works - after a bit of fiddling.
  20. Teamviewer looks perfect but it's blocked here and we have no control over the filtering - the borough deals with it and won't unblock anything. Logmein Rescue does work though (at least it does at the moment), it's just a tad expensive.
  21. I would be very interested in this too - would save a lot of time with usb drives.
  22. I know the last post of this thread is only 6 months old but any other suggestions - love LogMeIn (both free and rescue) but as we've been offering remote support for free so far, don't really want to start charging for it if we can help it.
  23. Confuseddotcom I'll still send the screendump to WiX - they may have a solution (doubt it though)
  24. Can anyone else with an Ubuntu m/c at their disposal have a quick look please? It seems I haven't spent nearly enough time testing this out.
