I am looking for a small, networkable, printer and copier that will be used by about 4 people in an office. Last couple I have chosen have resulted in endless moaning so thought I would look for other's recommendations. Cheers!

I know what you mean but I don't think it can't really be classed as a monopoly, you are free to go to other broadband providers after all. Its just that in a lot of places they have a better product. Also the predecessor companies (ntl and the smaller cable companies before that) invested heavily in their own networks to provide that better product.

I don't think that there is much to tweak really. I just went with the gpo that was created in setup.

Yeah we use it and it works really well. We don't use tunneling as we don't want to force all outgoing traffic through our network.

*ahem* Tested and this works perfectly (so far). I now have different users getting different pinned items depending on AD group and what apps are installed.

Well I was thinking of setting a gpp to copy shortcuts to '%appdata%\roaming\classicshell\pinned' which should set the pinned apps (as long as you're as telling the Start Menu to use the classicshell pinned folder rather than the standard start menu). But yes this would be per user which is a bit of a PITA. Just wondering if anyone had any better ideas? Having apps pinned might be good for our younger users.

Quick question. How are people controlling the pinned section of the Start Menu?

Quick question about the GPO settings. Is it me or are they setup a bit weird? So for example, if I want to turn off automatic updating and stop the user from altering the setting, do I set that option to 'disabled' or do I enabled it but not tick the box to enable auto updating and lock the setting. Does that make sense? It seems you have to enable the setting but then not enable it in the options to be able to lock it. Edit: Hmm looks like you enable the GPO setting then set the options below.

@Michael Thanks for your postings and work around getting a viable Win 10 Start Menu. Its so frustrating that MS can't give us a working, controllable start menu but this seems to fit the bill.

I have the client on DCs to manage AV as well. I think the caution is that with SCCM its very easy to stuff your whole network up if something is not configured correctly. Its not such an issue if you mess up a workstation but breaking a DC could be a big problem. An extra check is probably a good idea

Whatever works for you, but you can use times table facts to scale as well. Eg if I needed to work out 18x8 I would think "I know that 8x8 = 64 and 10x8 = 80 so the answer is 64+80 = 144. Only takes a second or two in my head as the knowledge is just there.

Wow. Everything I need I order out of the IT budget. But I then I guess in these austere times I am lucky to even have a decent budget. Yes that is incredibly annoying. Most staff here do use their laptops extensively but blanket handing out laptops can lead to waste of resources.
