  1. I used a powershell script to remove them from the wim. When I'm back in the office I'll dig it out.
  2. Ha, just doing the exact same thing! Thanks
  3. Ok so rebooted the server and the setting appeared. Go figure. This is filed firmly under "it works now so don't worry about why it didn't" Initial testing seems to indicate that it has fixed the frozen menu and task bar issue we were seeing. Next question. @Michael how have you hidden the 'search' and 'task view' icon? Via the registry? Can't seem to find a Group Policy setting to do this?
  4. Good idea @DJ-1701 I sneaked in a secret camera, let's see what goes on at BETT before the doors open... *switches camera on* Hmm ok well... I can't quite make out what... what... what the..!? Oh my God it's... I can't believe they're...argggghhh turn it off, turn it off! *shaking* Never go to BETT before the doors open.
  5. And I thought I was keen
  6. Yep on all our machines to mitigate against malware and suchlike.
  7. Oh no sorry I wasn't clear, yes I moved them. It's really odd as i can't find anything else missing. I'm going to try re-downloading and copying again tomorrow. I am working on the assumption that I am doing something daft.
  8. Yeah I read somewhere that but I don't have that setting. There's no one drive key. I repaired that win 10 gpos via the installation msi and installed the v1511 gpos as well but still not there!? Currently trying an idea I read about removing the reg key from the default profile that runs the one drive setup for every user on first login.
  9. Ok got a handle on the frozen start menu issue. So after stripping everything out it still happened but have narrowed it down to OneDrive doing an update. I can see exactly what happens, Toast notification comes up about the OneDrive update, the OneDrive icon disappears, the menu/explorer freezes, the icon comes back and after a while the menu starts working again. Problem is it seems to happen on every user's first logon. Anyone know how to prevent OneDrive running? Annoyingly there is a Local Group Policy setting to disable it but no central GP setting and the reg setting that worked in Win 8.1 no longer does. Guess I could setup AppLocker?
  10. Hmm just says "Staring at 15:00"
  11. *blinks* I am free! Free! I am free to emerge into the light, to run, to jump to sing, to throw my arms open wide to the world and shout "My name is sparkeh and I...." Wait its back on!
  12. Its funny, at the height of the VLE madness we had an inspection. So we prepared loads of stuff to demonstrate how we used our VLE. Do you know that the inspector said... "What's a VLE?" Awesome.
  13. That's what hip flasks are for.
  14. There was a lot of confusion at the time as, if I remember correctly, there was something put out saying it was mandatory. Our LA certainly told us it was. Unfortunately the misinformation is still swirling around.
  15. @VeryPC_Colin_M wave to camera. Now
  16. Phew! Just in time. I was just cutting out little @Dos_Box, @Little-Miss, @Domino, @robk, and @elsiegee40 figures and placing them around a minute BETT stand made from a matchbox. And no there's nothing weird about that.
  17. Turns out our office is the warmest room on site. People keep wandering in for nonsense chats and lingering. Thinking of charging an entrance fee
  18. What time's the stream start? Need to get lots of work done before its live and I stare zombified at the people wandering past the camera.
  19. Been doing some testing and research and it could possibly be something to do with Universal Apps trying to update and screwing up the start menu. It does seems to coincide with errors in the logs about updates failing. Going to test a new build with *all* apps striped out from the .wim and see if that is any better.
  20. How can I make it to London in 15mins!? *running feet* *car door slamming* Vrrooooommm... (I like pizza. A lot).
  21. Interesting as I think I have just hit this problem. Can't nail down exactly what's going on but randomly the start menu (classic start), task bar and notification area just stop responding. Then you have CTRL + ALT + DEL sign out.
  22. Media converters are one of the worst bits of kit I've dealt with. They seem to break very easily. Moving to gbic modules saves a lot of frustration.
  23. Yeah we are not allowed to use Enterprise, has to be Education or Enterprise LTSB.
  24. Ugh, I hate this horror genre of "let's think of the most disgusting thing we can think of but not actually put anything else in it that remotely makes it into a movie" At least give me story and interesting characters! Mrs sparkeh cued up "The Duff" the other night. I was not overly keen but actually quite enjoyed it. It's not going to change your life but its above the normal moronic teen fare that's churned out.
