  1. The installer media rather than the actual os.
  2. Not giving a lot of information is not going to help you get answers. Try answering some of the questions to get more helpful replies.
  3. 18c air con. Servers register between 16-19c on intake. Out is showing 26-30 during the day using a probe.
  4. Having a bit of a nightmare time trying to work out how to legally use music in a video for a school. We want to make a video effectively promoting the school, have interviews in another video with the same sort of music. Now looking on YouTube under the "music policies" I see there are lots of tracks in the current charts and past that can be used. It does state these policies only relate to YouTube videos which is where we will post the videos. So is this ok to do? The school wants a current song, and as long as it is in the music policies allowing use I assume it's fine. But I cannot find information anywhere about this apart from royalty free music which is not what the school wants. Has anybody else done something similar and can you advise please? As a side note I have emailed customer services at PPL who do music licensing for background music (which we have), but again couldn't find information relating to what we want to do specifically on their website.
  5. Hi all, Bit of an issue today. We have Malwarebytes Enterprise for anti-malware protection on all of our staff machines. This morning I have had complaints about staff laptops and desktops freezing and becoming unusable, some have recovered after 10-20 minutes. If I boot without the "MBAMService" running it works perfectly, I have logged a support ticket with Malwarebytes but hoping someone on here might have some ideas. This is affecting a growing number of computers like it is spreading. As a precaution I have disabled the staff network completely to stop anything potentially spreading, my initial thoughts are either a virus is attacking the malwarebytes service or a bug in the malwarebytes service. I have reinstalled the client on a laptop and it instantly starts freezing up again after completion. If I stop the service from starting up and then start it after 5-10 minutes the same happens so it is not a clash on services starting up. I have also disabled everything from starting up and just left MBAMService on and it happens. Any thoughts or common problem solutions would be greatly appreciated while I wait for Malwarebytes support. Thanks, Tom
  6. I purchase baofeng 888s radios for £11 each, they are 5w (max power under the £75/5year license) and we program them in house. Work really well through our buildings and across our site. (We also have some uv-5x model but users find them too complicated because they have buttons)
  7. Student Numbers: 1050 Staff Numbers: 95 FTE IT Staff: 2 Servers: (virtual/physical) 25 virtual on 4 physical (+2 other physical hypervisors with 100 VMs) Computers: 350 desktops Laptops: 100 Tablets: 70
  8. So does every user have 2 laptops????? 730 staff and students combined, 1450 laptops.
  9. Appologies, I was talking in respect to the cable we had previous... the cable was deteriorated and all external runs broke when temp dropped outside on our external runs. We came in next day to all external fibre runs broken (this was 5 years ago) and the fibre was about 10 years old at that point, probably not fit for purpose on installation. Our new fibre is guaranteed, they were talking in respect to cabling that was installed up to 8 years prior, as its temperature range on the cable was insufficient for the cold weather we experienced and in terms of future proofing with 10gb capable fibre. Although I have had a cable prior to that big freeze that was degraded in sunlight and moss, exposing the inside of the cable. Hence why I referred to this. It is probably a good time to get cabling replaced with OM4 armoured cabling installed if you are thinking of replacing it and getting it future proofed.
  10. If the cable has degraded over time which is possible, especially with old fibre cable where the cable cannot stand a wide range of temperatures, or is in sunlight and effected by UV it can expose the inner fibre strands to low levels of ambient light which affects the transmissions across it. Effectively we were told to replace fibre cabling if it is 6-8 years old by more than one specialist.
  11. Agreed, if switch isn't on ups then the second server wouldn't be reachable in a power out and your config will be pointless to try and shutdown a second server if only one server has direct connection to ups.
  12. Ha, fixed... I had changed the lesson names in the HAP config to "Period" but in the static bookings it was "lesson". Typical me fiddling.
  13. Hi, I have been using HAP+ with room bookings for a while now, however this morning on logging in all of my static bookings are not showing on the bookings page. If I go to the control panel they all appear. User bookings appear just not static bookings from Sims? I have tried to clear the XML and just put in one lesson but that does not appear either. TIA, Tom
  14. So the teacher thought my clues were too hard and I have opted for the, "something is broken where do you take it" approach. I did think about getting the previous treasure point to give them something like a USB stick that doesn't work so they would end up coming to me.
  15. I have been asked to provide a question that some sixth form students will be given as part of a treasure hunt to find my office and then receive another question/clue. Simply, what question should I ask? I thought about just giving them my offices GPS coordinates, but think that might take them too long. Maybe a quick URL to maps with a marker on my office? Or as my office is between two rooms (T3 & T4) I was thinking of just putting T3.5. Or a question that would give them Silicon Valley as their answer which should lead them to IT... or a question that would lead them to my surname? The opportunities are endless but want something that will challenge them, but not take too long. Any ideas?
  16. Looks like pretty normal stats for us around this time of year for 2.5 days. Out of interest how big is your school in student numbers?
  17. Sorry for confusion, my email didn't confirm office 2016, however that a new plugin was required with the new link (see below) and when I go to the plugin system check page it has office 2016. Email was from BCS. https://ecdluk.psionline.com/
  18. We have been sent an email with a new URL which has 2016 support with plugin.
  19. As said above, ICO under the DPA states it should have "appropriate" levels of security including physical security. Ours are in a secure room with bars across all windows, frosted glass and double deadlock security door that only myself and senior tech have keys for. Server cabinets are also locked and under alarm. Hopefully new server room soon, near our new office which will be of same level security but with added access control ontop to provide auditing.
  20. When it states "unrelated to education illegal", technically you are using it to provide some sort of educational content such as a VLE?
  21. So based on no time to learn and try other bits (although I would like to) I ended up just updating my smartdraw subs and using that. At least I can copy some old room layouts and just change the walls windows I guess.
  22. Sounds like your firewall might be stripping info.
  23. Don't have an issue with drivers here... but then again I don't do any imaging nowadays so I wouldn't know! [emoji3]
  24. Visio seems to be a winner amongst you. Will try this if licensing stops Autodesk, although I could get a student to do it for their lesson????
  25. Thanks, after some searching I found Autodesk Autocad is now available free for education! So signed up and got a free 3 year 3,000 user license. Will see what this can do.
