Has anyone been successful in getting 7.7.5 to deploy from SCCM? My batch file looks as follows - @echo off msiexec /i "%~dp0AppleApplicationSupport.msi" /qn msiexec /i "%~dp0QuickTime.msi" /qn REM Removes Auto Launch from registry reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" /v "QuickTime Task" /f REM Return exit code to SCCM exit /B %EXIT_CODE% From what I can gather the ApplicationSupport MSI is installing fine then everything stops and SCCM reports it as 'Installed' but Quicktime isn't on. If i run the .bat file again QuickTime installs. Any ideas?

What classifications and products have you selected on the SCCM Software update point to download? On the SCCM console go to Administration > Sites > Configure Site Component > Software Update Point. Check your classifications and product selections. If certain things aren't checked, they won't sync and download to SCCM. Checking online shows everything as it bypasses the SCCM update point.

Are your clients requesting updates from the SCCM server or the Microsoft update servers?

We use Wake on Lan with our machines and deployment of an update with Solus3 wakes them and installs it. No point relying on staff to leave things on!

I seem to recall having an issue with this and it turned out to be the fact that no printer was set to be the 'default' in Windows. Try setting the printer you have installed to default if it isn't already.

Hi all. Just to update with this, have ended up with 30 Kindle E inks to now sort out. Have locked down a few things via the parental settings. However, a few things still trouble me. A device password can be set and the device language can be changed...two things which would render the device practically useless until reset. Any way of doing anything with these? can't find any information anywhere! Thanks in advance.

Create and test your policies first. Then just unlink the old ones and link the new ones to the correct OU. Once you're happy things are working OK, delete the old ones completely.

Does the update warn about C++ being needed the first time the software is ran even if it's already installed? Mine seem to be doing that. Don't want any issues come test day!

Touchpads here. No reason to provide a mouse really, the kids are perfectly familiar with using them.

Can't really add much else but, if you have laptop/tablet charge trolleys put them on timers to only charge during certain hours. We're also in the middle of setting up a new print solution along side Ricoh to cut our costs. The printers / copiers will be setup by default to print in duplex to save paper, not sure how good of an idea this is yet...but it something to consider.

Hi all, An order has been put forward for 150 Kindles to be purchased for English because 'Kids are so used to looking at screens they will read more'. I'm firmly against this and have been putting together a plan to get it thrown out, or at the very least the number purchased brought down to a class size of 30 at most. I've no experience with Kindles but it is my understanding that they must be linked to an Amazon account and books can be downloaded to a maximum of 6 devices. Is this the case? I've also read conflicting information that by using them in a school environment you are breaking Amazon UK terms of use agreement as they are a 'personal' device? Could anyone shed further light on the legalities of using them? Those who may have them how do you manage them and the books? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, We have a few instances of software that cause the following to be displayed when a member of staff logs out - The above is just an example, more often than not it's SIMS that causes this as the members of staff just don't bother to close it down before logging off and walking away. I'm wondering is there a way to skip this step all together and just log the user out? It's possible to cancel the log out when the above happens and continue using the computer as the user, which could lead to potential security issues. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, We have two edge servers setup that i inherited when i took over. Haven't done much with them as they work perfectly fine and everything. However lately we've been getting a fair few emails addressed to recipients that don't exists sitting in the queues. To counteract this i thought i'd setup the recipient filtering to 'block messages sent to recipients that do not exists in the directory'. However, this appears to then block all incoming external mail. Does anyone have any experience with settings this up and with what I need to do to get it working correctly? Thanks in advance.

We use it and also host on-site. Very easy to setup and use and (since the latest update to fix a SIMS timetable issue) has been very responsive. Updates are straight forward and AD integration with SSO was easy peasy. We also have it setup for external access.

Thanks to some of the posts above I've managed to get the ones we have imaging...albeit slowly! They are taking much longer to deploy the packages than any of our other laptops do. Has anyone else experienced this?

Been using Cheap Printer Ink Cartridges, Laser Toner & Inkjet Printer Cartridges here. None of our suppliers can get close to them and everything we've had has been here next day and worked a treat.

You shouldn't ever be in a situation where you are forced to 'tinker' in a live environment. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. The fact you were having to perform tasks on the live server forcing downtime for students could also be used to back up the argument.

Had this with a Mac Mini we purchased recently. I did very little when setting up myself and didn't have the problem, but when it went out to the user they reported this issue. Recommended the below to them and have had no complaints since -

I remember us having an issue like this when we ran 2010. Was something to do with one of the Exchange services not running, can't recall which one though. EDIT - Exchange System Attendant i think it is.
