Teacher gives me laptop saying "no internet", all the url dektop shortcuts don't work, you just get "this app can't run on your PC" further investigation shows chome.exe is zero bytes though the folder structure appears any ideas what could have happened? Tried a repair of the install but couldn't find the msi so did an uninstall and just reinstalling latest 64bit version 80 and about to do full virus scan.

Seems to be a bit of a craze at the moment of kids listening to music (plus tik tok videos ?) via scratch (we use the online version so can't block domain https://scratch.mit.edu/) e.g. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/324728082/ any ideas how to filter / block the music and videos (we have smoothwall)

But how do I report them ?! Google help says: Request removal of customer photos in your account Sign in to Google My Business. If you have multiple locations, open the location you'd like to manage. In the menu on the left, click Photos. On the photo you'd like to flag, in the top right corner, click Flag Report a problem. but the offending photos are not listed here. From what I can work out looks like the business listing is pulling photos from an unofficial facebook group named after the school somebody set up. Also if you click on photos there's 100s!, not appropriate/relevant

I was going to do a sepearate post but since this is similar I thought I'd chip in here. We have issue with a google search for school brings up inappropriate photos on RHS. I have managed to register via "My Business" but still have no control over the photos. There is an option to report the photos for google to investigate but my issue is the photos that appear under the search results are not shown on our "My Business" page so there is no way to report them that I can see !? Logged support call with google, got 1 Reply so far of no help just a paste of online help . Very frustrating.

Hi, we're pretty old school here, i.e. all VGA, so never had to worry about HDMI etc, most monitors 10 years old! Just replacing stuff as it dies (limited budgets) The new PC I installed has come with 1 x DVI-D 1 x D-Sub 1 x HDMI and the monitor has HDMI and VGA Hence my other question re installing monitor "drivers"/software, is it worth it on new kit? Maybe it would give teacher more control over low light / night settings ? Plus from my point of view if I query via powershell / WMI perhaps I will get more info, e.g. the monitor make/serial number ? One last question: some of the older monitors seem to be failing e.g. you switch them on, image appears for a few seconds then screen goes black, but you can just make out a faint image (actually I couldn't but one of the kids could, my aging eyes!). Is this the backlight / inverter failing ?

Hi, just replaced an aging PC and monitor in a classroom. VGA out from old PC was going to a splitter box with two outs: VGA to touch screen VGA to monitor so PC screen duplicated to touchscreen. Teacher uses freeze on touchscreen when required. Now new PC has VGA and HDMI outs https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/PRIME-H310M-A-R2-0/specifications/, monitor and touchscreen also have HDMI in. A quick install keeping same cabling config works but monitor res is down at 1366(or 1360?) x 768 Guess splitter can't cope. Whats my options to get full use of HD resolution? Hi, in my Office 365 outlook web app https://outlook.office.com my Inbox has a filter where i can select e.g. unread but this filter "menu item" is not present when I select a group, i.e. no way to filter/sort messages in a group? Can this be correct ? Seems like basic functionality missing ? Maybe there is a workaround e.g. a search query for "unread" messages ?

I've used studio one personally and quite like it. Not sure on pricing for a school. Think it was written from the ground up by one of the original cubase guys.

I heard something on the radio over Christmas about a US company that was successfully sued as one of their apps/software didn't fully implement "accessibility features". Not sure about legislation in UK maybe just need to offer a hard copy if requested ?

what about access to your work emails / account / cloud drive ? Personally I tend not to delete stuff so there a lots of things likely to be useful to a successor. I try not to use my work email for personal stuff so I think I would be fine with this but not sure what legal situation is e.g. I guess the school owns the emails but can they peruse emails off staff who have left without their explicit permission ?

thanks, I'm moving back to MDT now, did manage to get WDS working partly the way I had it was with 3 unattend files, one for the image with the oobe stuff etc and then two in the server properties (one for UEFI and one for BIOS) these two do the wipe disk and partition. In WDS managing the drivers seemed a bit limited and domain join / naming PC also tricky so like I said going back to MDT for now.

All users seem to get this. I think it's to do with how the council set up our email many years ago and migrated users to Office 365. Anyway looking in event logs for laptop I can see word crashed Slightly worrying given this is a fresh install, fully patched/updated with ltsc "as used in nuclear power stations" etc due to its inherent stability Maybe that knocked out onedrive too, but would you expect it to restart after a crash? tempted to clear the "use office applications to sync office files that i open" checkbox under settings -> office.

Hi, set up a new laptop for a teacher with windows ltsc 2019 (1809 OS Build 17763.805) and OneDrive installed just for this user(i.e. not pc wide / for all users) Went with version 19.192.0926.0012 and Office Professional Plus 2016. Was getting errors in word : Thought this a bit odd as didn't think you had to sign into word for onedrive to work? Anyway signed in. Got the message about "this email used with more than one account... work or school / personal" Never understood this! Chose Work and signed in with office 365 email account Things started to work but I noticed the files in OneDrive have the cloud icon, when you open them they get the green tick (before sign in file was stuck with 2 arrows sync icon). Must be using the "new" files on demand? My PC is still on 1709 and even though I have same version of onedrive I don't get the files on demand feature. All my files have the green tick. Thought everything was ok but teacher reports over the weekend at home she has been unable to use onedrive. Errors like "files stuck with 2 arrows sync icon" and "Can't open this file make sure onedrive is running on your PC and try again" Laptop seems fine this morning in school. Any ideas what the problem could be and how to get it working reliably? E.g. does onedrive provided any verbose/debug logs i can switch on?

Have you checked all the logs for any more info ? e.g. on the client F8 to bring up command prompt and search for logs via dir /s/b *.log from X:\ and C:\ or just get MDT to copy logs to deployment share via SLShare rule see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/configmgr/mdt/troubleshooting-reference

Hi, we do this with a student using Tight VNC on the teacher PC and the Remote Ripple app (£2.99 ish ?) on the student's ipad. I'm not sure its the best solution but was recommended by someone external so I set it up and not had any support calls on it so far which is a plus

Also what about my orig question, i.e. are two unattend files necessary for WDS ? I'm tempted to just try one unattend file associated with the image. Maybe the other unattend file is for any global WDS settings you want for all images ?
