My brain has just died. We are starting now to looking to roll out and use Solus 3 on our site. We tested initially with a half a dozen PCs with a manual install of the SOLUS 3 Agent and it works fine with no problems. However, as we have some 180-odd clients to work with, is there a way to deploy the firewallsolusrunthis.bat file provided by CAPITA other than manually on each machine? We can’t seem to find a way to push this out to the machines via a GPO – the problem is that it needs to be run as Administrator. We don’t really want to have to go round all the clients individually as we don’t really have the time at the moment so your input would be much appreciated! Does anyone have another means / file at their disposal for making the necessary firewall changes that we can push out via a GPO? I can't think straight atm and everything I've tried goes pear-shaped (got a lot on my plate atm) Also if anyone has a new brain can I have it please?

Does anyone use an effective free AV solution that is permissible in an educational establishment? We're looking to reduce costs (I don't want to compromise security, so something that works is needed, obviously) so I was wondering if there is anything out there that isn't just for personal use? We had a delivery at 11pm one evening - a rusty, battered white van screeched to a halt, backed up, and parked half on the verge churning up the grass. A little old guy pops out with our package, smiles and hand it over to me without uttering a word and then screeches off into the night. Thanks Amazon for employing crazy sub-contracted people to do your deliveries!

Parcel left on driveway wedged under the front of my car. 3. Parcel just left on doorstep in full view. 4. Parcel left in Red Recycling Box - fortunately not on the day the refuse collectors were due. M U P P E T S ! ! !

We use QNAPs for a similar purpose. The only niggle we have is that the web interface is a bit slow at times.

And don't get me started on Ban Ki-Moon and the UN - he's useless as well. A glove puppet would do a better job than him. And the UN is impotent, useless. Useless.

Good advice from IrritableTech. I had to position a mirror so I could see the TV screen through the window as there wasn't anyone to tell me what the signal strength was. I loosened the nuts off just enough to allow small movements so I could adjust the position. Ended up with a better signal than the Sky engineer achieved.

We've got a bit of a headscratcher. One of our servers with Windows 2008 R2 - a HP G6 ML350 has randomly crashed twice now. The first time it simply restarted itself and the second time it completely locked up and needed a hard reset. There's nothing in the logs except that the previous shutdown was unexpected. All the latest updates are on. HP USA have the diagnostic logs but so far haven't come up with anything. A second machine that is almost identical and is in the same rack, connected to the same switch and UPS, is unaffected. It's started in December where we saw laggy behaviour at first on the network. We don't know if it's related but on three successive Thursdays now we've had slowness on that network. We can't see anything that happens on that day that might cause it. Thursdays are no different to any other day of the week for us. Thoughts and ideas much appreciated!

25 miles, 45 minutes on a good day.

I can't do it here - too much stuff attached all over the place that has hissy fits if it loses the network and also users in at all sorts of weird and wonderful hours. Nightmare at times trying to do certain tasks. We're thinking someone has it stuffed it in a cupboard or the like doing something we haven't been told about. It's recent though as it wasn't knocking about the other week. We'll find it soon. Thanks for all your comments. I'll let you know the outcome!

Were you using a breakdown service?

I live in an area where they ticketed a hearse that had broken down - granted it wasn't being used for its intended purpose at the time - but they refused to cancel the ticket and the undertakers had to stump up £35. They said that as there was no proof it had actually broken down - such as an AA call-out, etc - they couldn't do anything about it and they would have to pay.
