We've got a config file that unbelievably stores the admin password for a particular program. We know the password is actually 'password' and in the file it is stored as VHfZKXg0cfthMCwTA What is this and how do we covert it to confirm? Many thanks.

A family friend recently passed away and some weeks after the funeral I happened to notice with some surprise that his Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other accounts were still active - although obviously not being updated as regularly as they once were... It was a difficult thing to do as his death had been totally unexpected and was still a great shock to us all, but I eventually raised the issue with his partner and his immediate family, who were all unaware of his online persona carrying on as such, and so hadn't begun to deal with the electronic aspect of his passing. We asked his solicitor who had dealt with his will to help, who fortunately was quite knowledgeable in such matters, and who has now written to or emailed the various companies to ask that the accounts be closed. No mean feat as we were dealing with all the major social networking sites and a dozen or so email accounts from the likes of Yahoo, Hotmail and GMail. There were also numerous subscriptions to websites and mailing lists, as well as Flickr accounts and the like. In all, it's taken several weeks to get most of it dealt with, although some of the accounts are still in the process of being closed and deleted. I was wondering if anyone else has had experience of this and it made me think about the digital footprint that we will all leave behind us on the Internet when we pass on.

Update. This wasn't a VLAN issue after all and was a software issue solved by an upgrade. However, I was hoping that you could help us with another technical issue that we have that our reprographics/print solution contractor cannot at present find a solution to? We have PCounter v2.30a installed on our Windows Server 2003 SE SP2 Domain Controller. Alongside this are PCounter Embedded For Sharp OSA v3.1.0.2 and Apache Tomcat v6.0.10. We have four Sharp MX-6200N machines on site. Previously, we were using a version of the DACCS Management software on the server but our reprographics contractor removed this as the maintenance licence had expired, and installed the PCounter Embedded For Sharp OSA v3.1.0.2 software. Since then, we have an issue whereby anyone using their pin number on any of the MFDs is able to use any of the client codes – not just the ones that have been assigned to them in PCounter. As you can imagine, staff have had a field day putting their copying charges on other departments budgets! Has anyone experienced this and know of a solution? Many thanks.

I modified a head torch I picked up from the £1 shop - took the lamp off and fitted the camera to the plate using the bracket supplied with the camera and some velcro. I wear it when I go cycling around some of the less salubrious areas near where I live and I know there's going to be pond-life around. The look on the chavs faces when they realise they're being filmed is priceless.

Incidentally, I believe the crash in the title sequence is genuine footage from a crash involving a test aircraft although I may be wrong: From Wikipedia - "The lifting body seen crashing in the opening sequence of the show is real footage of the loss of the Northrop M2-F2, though the sequence is misleading in that it shows both the M2-F2 crash and images of a different model, the Northrop HL-10, being released from its B-52 mothership. This continuity error is notable by the presence of the central fin and dihedral of the outer fins of the HL-10 at one point followed by the lack of a central fin and presence of the vertical outer fins indicative of the M2-F2 on the crash footage a few seconds later. The dialogue spoken by actor Lee Majors during the opening credits is reportedly based upon communication prior to the M2-F2 crash that occurred on May 10, 1967: (“Flight com, I can’t hold her! She’s breaking up! She’s breaking—”).
