ok thanks, think i might start again as none of the commands are working. Does MailCleaner allow any kind of user access? The boss has just told me he's after a filter which the users can see a report of what they were sent and can approve / disallow themselves at the end of the day???

ive got the the mailcleaner login screen, do i need to give it an IP etc?

being a bit of a noob to this, do i need a linux box as I only have Server 2008 R2 at the moment and zero experience in linux to be honest. Our exchange is running Server 2008 R2, Exchange 2010 SP2

What is the best SPAM filter to use? We currently recieve over 1000 SPAM emails a day to the school and its becoming rediculious. I have a SPAM filter called VamSoft ORF on exchange which is a simple filter comprising of a whitelist, blacklist, greylisting etc however all it tends to do is redirect mail to a mailbox which i then have to manually look through everyday. Also it marks far to many genuine emails as SPAM which staff are not happy about. Which filter do you use? We have a microsoft volume license so anything microsoft would be great as we are already licensed, however we can look at alternatives. I did install Forefront 2010 for exchange, however our exchange grinded to a halt, probably because i need to increase the number of cores on the virtual machine (currently only set to 2). If this is the best product, i will look into upgrading the VM.

Most strange then. The other problem is the amount of SPAM we are recieving and also google and ntlworld have blocked us as a source of SPAM as they have recieved a lot of unsolicied email from us...any ideas how to stop that?

So having returned to the office today, i have looked at the send connector again to find there is no FQDN specified in the connector. I added the FQDN of exchange, applied, sent an email to my ntlworld, hotmail and yahoo and all recived instantly...not sure if this is a fix or a pure coincidence.

thanks guys. Can you have a second send connector or will I need to delete the current one? Sorry I'm fairly new to exchange 2010. When emails come though, they have the same header which they were originally sent with, nothing added, nothing taken away.

anyone? mail is being delayed between 30mins and 3 days for all mail at the moment! We receive a stupid amount of SPAM to the school each day, not sure if that's got anything to do with it

yep, redstone is our ISP for the council, our interent and email is hosted by them

OK so I wake up this morning to 17 emails all timed at 5am - 7am and the whole lot have come through....strange! Why would there be a delay for so long? Users were reporting this last week but we didn't think much of it until yesterday. Just sent another 2, one to Hotmail and one to ntlworld...both sat in queue, Hotmail one arrived about 15mins later, no sign of ntlworld email. They sat in a queue on exchange at our smarthost labelled as 'ready' for a long period of time then disappear but not always being delivered

Hey guys...need some urgent help! Just installed Exchange 2010 SP2 and the install went fine. The problem is I cant send external emails since upgrading to sp2, they just sit in a queue. When I restart the transport service some push through, but a majority do not. What could be causing this? I have changed no settings other than install SP2 and rollup's Receiving mail is working just fine and is instant.

Do your students have roaming profiles then?

We had this, you can download administrator templates into group policy manager to disable the students from changing to high contrast in the intel driver panel (if you have intel motherboards) To remove the high contrast setting from a students account, we just delete their profile. They dont need roaming profiles anyway. If you need roaming profiles for students, you can always just rename the effected folder and log back on to automatically create a new one

We gave up with it and installed an old version of movie maker (2.6) which works fine. Created a GPO and pushed it out across the network no issues. Works fine on Windows 7 and older machines too

We have recently got our WSUS server working but my machine doesnt report or pull down updates...i get this error on my machine: The GPO is denied aswell on my machine saying the GPO is 'Empty' but works fine on all other machines?? is there a way of resetting it? Im guessing OP has simular problems
