Afternoon, We have successfully redirected desktop and start menu's, however the first menu is blank as screen shot shows below, then the 'all programs' list is populated with the shortcuts in the redirection path. Is there a way of populating the first menu too? (IE is at the top as it allowed user to pin this himself, however normally he cannot right click to pin anything else) We would like a uniformed look for student accounts so that they all have the same menu structure. Many thanks

Same here, would love to know if you can redirect this for all student users etc

Sorry for digging this topic back up but did anyone manage to populate their start menu's? We have successfully redirected desktop and all programs menu but our start menu's are blank?

Start Menu and Desktop Redirection

Anyone know how to populate the start menu rather than just the all programs menu?? -
Sorry for slow reply guys, things are really busy here. So after some testing we have found that this issue occurs when the PC is restarted then a user tries to logon after being on a PC with a different image. Here are the errors in event viewer...any ideas?

Thanks guys. Ill take a look and let you know my findings. The staff image contains registration and SIMS software so it is not practical to roll this out to the whole school. The imaging has been a bit of a nightmare, they need completely redoing at some point. The company who put it in decided it would be better to have a big image with everything on than to install an OS and then roll out software via MSI.

Good Morning, In the summer holidays we upgraded from an old RM CC3 network to a brand new HP vanilla solution and its fantastic but we have a big problem with roaming profiles. We installed 3 different Windows 7 Images onto client machines via a WDS server: Staff Image - Includes all software including curriculum specificf software i.e Photoshop Student Image - Office, Plugins and ICT programs Admin Image - Office 2010, plugins and windows updates only The problem we are having is if a user logs onto a staff imaged PC then logs onto an admin or student imaged PC, they then get stuck on the 'Welcome' screen for over an hour and the HDD is being hammered. I checked event viewer on a machine once it logged on and it reported an issue with dynamic link librarys and having to install every single one. Im guessing when that user logs on, the PC is installing all the software from the staff image as it all seems to be in the programs list once completed. Is there a way of stopping this? We use roaming profiles so that users can access outlook etc anywhere in the school but this issue is causing major disruption. Also once the user has this issue, how can i reset their profile so that they can get back onto an admin machine? Is it as easy as deleting their profile from the file server? What data will they lose by doing this? Hope this all makes sense and any advice welcomed. Its a huge learning curve coming from an RM system but its so much better! Cheers guys!

Good FREE SPAM Filter for Exchange 2010
Darylrese replied to Darylrese's topic in Enterprise Software
Sounds ideal. I just watched a video on youtube and looks simple enough. All i need to do is put our blacklist / whitelist into a text file and i should be able to import it all over to Forefront. I'll let you know how I get on and thanks again! -

Hi guys, We have just installed a new network at our school and we now have a virtual Exchange 2010 server which is up and running but we are being ridiculed with SPAM emails. I have recieved in excess of 100 over one weekend to my personal mailbox alone. Can you guys recommend me a decent FREE SPAM FILTER which is easy to use and setup? Until recently on our old exchange i was using a program called Vamsoft Enterprise Edition which stopped SPAM to users mailboxes but meant i have to sivve through thousands of SPAM emails a day to ensure there were no false positives as all it did was redirect them to a specified mailbox. Hoping to implement a better system on our new exchange following recommendation by you guys. All suggestions welcome, thanks in advance!

Hello, We have a problem with Exchange 2007, where by if you give a user 'Send As Permissions' or 'Manage Full Access Permissions' the setting stays for about half an hour then dissapears. This is causing all kinds of complaints from staff as they use PARs software to send emails out to parents and it keeps failing when the settings in exchange drop out. 5 users are given full access to a mailbox as PARs only allows you to send emails via one specified address. Any ideas?? The only quick fix i can think of is to create a new account and ask all members of staff to logon as that user to send emails home so they already have full permissions to that mailbox but I would still like to get it working so that they can remain logged onto their own accounts and send via the shared mailbox. Many thanks

It just says unable to connect to the server when you test the connection. It then lets you save the settings but says it might not work....and it doesn't! -
Dear all, I'm having problems connecting our Business Directors IPAD upto our Microsoft 2007exchange server. I have checked his account settings in A.D...he has ActiveSync services enabled and he can get his work emails on his blackberry storm device but wants them on ipad aswell. Has anyone connected an IPAD to exchange and successfully accessed it internal and externally? I have looked on the internet and i have set the account settings as they should be but it says unable to connect no matter what. The same settings stored on his blackberry work fine! I have tried following this guide but no luck: http://blog.fosketts.net/guides/ipad-exchange-activesync/ Any help appriciated as always Daryl

Installing Moodle for the first time *newbie*
Darylrese replied to Darylrese's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Bart21 kindly helped me install Moodle 2.0 on ubantu and we are now up and running!! However, it only works internally. We want to give external access to our teachers & Pupils. I have contacted our local council to create us a domain pointing to the ubantu server but they are reporting it may be difficault to create a .sch.uk address as they are restricted via Nominet? We wanted something like most other schools in the format http://www.moodle.schoolname.sch.uk I'm guessing this is all we need to do to use moodle externally?
