Thats excellent, thank-you works a charm. Still, it doesn't achieve much as its only installed on a desktop pc on our network with an internal ip. We still need it setup so that it can be accessed externally aswel. I just can't get my head around installing it on a server! -

Hi, I have installed Moodle on a windows computer just to have a quick play around. Only problem now is when trying to access moodle from another pc on the network it says http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp24/Miltoncross/error.jpg Works ok using localhost on the computer but not by typing in the ip of the host from another computer. Has anyone else had this problem?? -

cheers mate. Im just having a go at uploading the uncompressed moodle folder to our FTP (hosted externally) to see if i can get it running that way aswell. The only stage i'm not sure on with that method of installation is creating a database as i dont think our web host has a CPanel, only FTP access. -

Morning Everyone, My school is looking at installing Moodle. We currently have uniservity and we can no longer afford it and no-one uses it. I only have basic knowledge of web design / hosting and would like to know where to start with setting up moodle. Do i need an internal server for moodle? We have some old servers that have been decommissioned that im looking to install Ubuntu Server edition on and have a play about with. We do have an external web host who host our school website and forums, could we ask them to run it from their end? What is the best choice? Is it easy to install if i do it myself? Once it is installed how hard is it to design / create content? Any help is appriciated...sorry i am a newbie when it comes to stuff like this!! Many thanks -
Good Morning, Sorry if i seem a little lacking in knowledge with this process. So if I nstall Adobe air on the network, how would we create a package for the Talking Dice program?
-
Good afternoon all, Our school has purchased a network license for Talking Dice, an interactive piece of software to aid teaching in languages. When i recieved the disk i discovered all that is on it is a .air file. I can 't see a way of deploying a .air file across the network or if you can convert a .air to .exe / .msi? Any help welcome. We have a RM CC3 Network so we can turn .exe files into .msi's but it won't convert .air Many thanks

Hello all, Our school has purchased several DVD's which contain SCORM files, created specifically to upload to Learning Platforms. When opening the disk content, the SCORM file is 1.08GB in size!! I have tried to upload this to Uniservity and i get an error saying failed to read source file. I remember last year a Uniservity representative saying if SCORM files were over 500mb they recommend sending them in to be uploaded for us. The problem is they want to charge £75+ VAT PER FILE!!! Has anyone successfully uploaded a large SCORM file to Uniservity? If so, how did you do it? I am going to take the disk home this weekend to see if it will upload from home. Many thanks

we had all the IT bods from the council in today and none of them can work it out! We are now looking at reinstalling SQL2008, Moving to a different server entirely (hopefully not!) or getting a conference call with capita and tasc to ask them. Its all still so slow you can't use it.
-
I know the video quality is very poor but it gives you an idea of whats happening (if you change it to 480p or 720p its much clearer):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP3S_wUkZo4
-
"Your current compatibility level is 100." No problem mate we are too. It's a nightmare. Even TASC / Capita and the local authorities are out of ideas.
-
Strange isn't it. I sat with admin staff last night after applying the patch reccomended by Capita, rebooted the server and tried a report again and still just as slow. We only have 4GB of RAM, this isn't a problem i assume? Others i have spoken to say we should have atleast 6 - 10.

Here is a screen shot: http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp24/Miltoncross/dbsize.jpg

Hi, Just to let you all know we applied the patch this morning and the problems still persist. Taking a register in PARs and setting merits / sanctions seems to be ok but when running any kind of report in SIMS or PARS crashes the system for all users logged on at the time.
-
they have now sent us a patch, Patch_14265 which apparently does the same as the other patches people have suggested on here. Will let you know how it goes once we have applied it.
-
Thanks for finding out. I'll give this information to our local council and see if they know what could be causing it.
-
Hi, It happened again just now and it just so happens i was looking at the management studio activity monitor and the processes screen filled up with blocking errors. After about 5mins they cleared and users could access SIMs again. Here is a report, again only 1 entry for some reason even though there were about 10 different SPID's blocking each other. http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp24/Miltoncross/blockingerrorswednesday.jpg
-
They did seem to flash up quite quick. I'll wait untill someone says its locked out completely again and then run the report. Cheers
-
Hi, When running a report in PARS it seems to throw up lots of SPID's being blocked. I managed to capture one. The biggest problem seems to be if more than 1 person is running a report at the same time....which happens quite often in our school http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/pp24/Miltoncross/blockingtransactions.jpg
-
Certainly will. Thank-you for your help so far.
-
yes will do. If i can grab a screen shot when it next happens i will post it on here. We are just giving Capita and our local council a ring to see what they say
